Has anyone notice how hard it is to win headers now??? You have to fight for it like in fifa07, BUT of course it looks very different. Also the AI is very good at scoring headers. OMG I just got slaughtered with Colombia against chile 4-0. This never happened to me ever. Looks like I have to play with the really good teams before I even think of winning any titles with mediocre teams like I did in WE9. which I find to be a good thing :rockman:

Indeed the game rox... :lui: (C) btw how r u?

I like how they made headers in mid-field less fool-proof as in PES5. but overall i still think it's a tad too difficult to perform a decent header (especially in attack). i hate how the computer always positions your player behind the CPU opponent, and R2 doesn't always seem to respond.

I tried a little international challenge on normal to get me into the new game, beat italy home and away but drew 4 times with finland and croatia lol.

I must admit it took me longer to get into pes 5 than pes 6. I like it, but they're doing less each time to make it worth the money.

Shooting from a distance is good, but inside the box, is a whole different thing, its ridiculous because the shooting gauge is too fast, the slightest tap of the button will power it up and the shot will balloon into the stands, even from six yards, nft. There must be a setting to slow it down surely. The fouls are terrible, a perfect full-blooded tackle where the ball is won cleanly = yellow card? fuck off. Passing is excellent in my opinion, I love spraying the ball around just like Scholesy does for United, and the ability to lob the ball over the back-four (throughball) is a welcome addition.

But other than that, I for one am glad that the PC version is a direct port of the PS2 and not the 360, I've heard from plenty of 360 owners (on another forum) that the PS2 version is superior and plays better gameplay wise.

I really don't understand why 'some' people are overjoyed with pes6.

Sure, it's a slight improvement over pes5, but not a fecking massive overhaul for a year's work.

Not all of the annoying bugs have been corrected and the online mode is really a joke.

Now it's clear why they didin't release a demo .......

I don't get why there is so many people complaining about PES 6.

They're always looking for something to complain about. The game has been improved a lot compared to PES5 or WE9LE.

If you are complaining about online mode, ok, you're right, but for the game itself, it's not substained.

It's not just about graphics, and that's where us, fans of PES6, must be proud of. What would change if you were able to see the nose hair of one player or the mole in his cheek? Nothing. As far as I know you only see those details in the replays or in the animations when the ball goes out or when fouls are committed. I really don't see the need of changing the graphics in that way.

The gameplay is the key of the game and it has always been about this. It is far better than in previous versions. No more constant fouls, better passing and shooting system, better IA, no more moron goalkeepers.

In summary a much better game and much more fun. :jambo:

PES6 gameplay-wise is a slowed down version of PES4 with brand new hit and hope shooting mechanics and some new clever (read: blatantly obvious) cheating scripts. Although it plays a bit better than the pile of ****e that was PES5, I still don't see why it should be marketed as a new game. The few changes in the gameplay are so subtle they could hardly even justify releasing it as a patch, let alone a new game. If PES had files which we could easily change in order to modify the gameplay (i.e the *.ini files in fifa), the editing community would themselves be able to create 1000 different versions of this, all of which would probably classify as a new game by Konami's standards. And I don't really care if their resources are directed towards next gen or not, PES6 on current gen isn't priced as a budget game so it shouldn't have been produced as one. It's a goddamn disgrace tbh.

As a matter of fact, those "subtle" changes are the main reason why this time the gameplay is far better.

I don't see the point why a game seller company would give you the chance to edit the gameplay. They develop the game and they change it as they want, because that is what they work for.

If it were for you, they would've only released PES4, waiting for PS3 or XBOX 360 to go out, as the would make the "major" changes for those platforms.

Maybe they should give us the code. That way we would all be able to change the game as we want.

I don't want to create a huge problem about this. Ultimately we, as consumers, have the chance to buy or not the game if we like it or not.

For me those changes make them a new game. In your case they are minor changes and you need a a whole new graphic and gameplay system to label it as a "new game".

Until the release of next-gen graphics and game, I think this is the best game available.

I think it worth the money.

Well dude you have a peculiar concept of "new". If u wash ur car, put a better radio and maybe fix the unstable gear un can surely call it "new". I would just see it as cleaner and fixed. Nothing worth buying it again..........

But then again it's only a pc game. There will be plenty to come. American version, Korean version, the new jap version for the PS3. Plenty of patches to buy...........

The point isn't about whether they should have made the gameplay files modifiable or not, it's the fact that those changes that make a new game for you could easily be done by anybody with a brain and a reasonable knowledge about how the game plays. You may think of it as a new game if it makes you feel better, the fact is that there's nothing new to it. I don't ******* cry for any major updates or graphic revolution, I want the game to have at least some new content. A revamped ML for example. A new menu structure wouldnt hurt. Some new tactical options instead of removing the old ones. New shooting or passing animations (and I mean new, not slightly tweaked old ones). New grass textures (seriosly, is that too much to ask?) Anything to justify selling it for £30 FFS. If you're willing to throw your money away for **** all then by all means, go ahead. But this release still remains a goddamn disgrace.

darklomba

Youth Team
It's not about throwing the money, of course.

It's a different approach to the problem. For me it's far better the gameplay and I don't need anything else. Maybe it's just that I don't care that much about graphics, or changing the ML, or adding new option to the tactics (I really don't know what else you need there, it's almost impossible to add something).

Of course graphics, menu and ML improvements wouldn't hurt at all. But I think that if washing my car and changing the stereo would improve my car like this, I would be washing my car every weekend.

Again, I don't want to create a huge deal of this. It's just a game and we have different opinions.

As the things are given, PES6 is far better than PES5. And as I want to have fun with the game, I wouldn't doubt on buying it again.

Starting XI
PES/WE has always been about the gameplay, rather than graphics or sound. Personally I think PES6 is the best in the series. They improved the dribbling, crossing, fouls, shooting, penalties, and slide tackles, just to name a few things. The long balls in particular feel much better with their lower arc. Shots require timing and positioning. Through balls now work properly.

Those worried about unrealistic fatigue in ML, can rest easy because it's now adjustable based on how hard you set you ML to. After choosing AI difficulty it now lets you choose how hard you want your ML to be. At the easiest level, your players never fatigue, they barely get injured, and trades are no hassle. Player development can also be turned off.

Well, that's all I have time for now. I'll post more opinions later.

I have played the game for about 20 hours now. I have won 2 cups with Man Utd and won the first D1 Leangue, D1 Cup with Man Utd. All at the Top Level (5 stars). Here is my review:

Video, Graphic: There is no distinctive improvement. But to be honest, I don’t care much, I still play Final Fantasy 7 sometime because it’s just so good (I beat it more than 19 times already)

Sound: Slightly Improvement. Aside from all the commentator we have all heard from PES5, there are some new lines now for Trevor and Peter to BS. At least now they can call up the name of the player dramatically (when he about to score).

Gameplay: A lot of changes

Defensive:

- A lot harder than before. In PES5 all I have to do is hold R1 run close to the opponent and time my X at the right time and I got 95% success rate. In PES6, If I hold R1 and run at 200 mph at Lampark, he will 100% move slightly to the side avoiding me and then run at 300 mph to the space behind me, and I’m telling you, it is almost impossible to catch up even when I have a decent guy like Rio Ferdinand.

- Good players are a lot more trickier (at least at 5 star level), if the ball are at the leg of Robben, Luis Garcia … some of those confident player, they will run all over you. Sometime I got one guy just run thru 3 of my defenders and score and all I can say is F***. I even get a feeling of the real defender when facing 1 on 1 with one of those Christiano Ronaldo type, when you just know, they are not gonna pass! And as I mention above, defending got harder, you really wish the guy just pass to someone else.

- To stop 1 on 1 situation, you really have to apply Real Knowledge in Defending Football here. Most of the time in PES6, you will only get the ball when you pressure them enuff for them to make a bad pass.

- Oh, and by the way, the notable defensive error is that: NO ONE gonna help you, your mates are either trust in you too much or just so scare of the attacker that they gonna back off from you doesn’t matter how much you scream: “HELP, ROBBEN’s gonna to rape me”. Konami really need to fix this problem

Offensive:

- It was really hard for me to score in my first ML season, I won about 20 games but most of them are all 1 – 0 or 2 – 1. I tried to apply all the tricks that help me to score about 15 goals in a match at 6 star in PES5 but none really work anymore in here.

- The shooting are a lot more real I think. In PES5 eventhough you might have someone close to you, if you are a good player like Rooney, you still gonna score with a bang. In PES6, I’m sure you can kill 2 birds at one with one of those sky high shot. It is so real though, and I LIKE IT, at first I think the it was BS considering I use C.Ronaldo shot about 10 shots and 9 were sky high. But when you look at it real like, C.R does shoot over the bar a lot. You really have to time the shot right and create space for yourself. When you been thru a lot, you will get a hang of it. Now I’m in my second season and at average I could score about 3 – 0 now.

- Crossing and heading are way more diffcult, I think in 20 hours of play, I score about 3 goals by heading. And 2 of them are free header. But that is the way to go, in real life, it is the same freaking thing, Man Utd had about 10 cross in a match and they all score from other situations, but they still play it, because that is the way to play. You have to use width to drag your opponents out.

- Passing improves a lot, and this is the DISTINCTIVE different from PES5 IMO. I have a lot more appreciate for player like Paul Scholes and Carrick now because of their awesome passing skill. In PES5, I use pacy midfielder because PACE is everything in football. However, now passing count a lot as you really have to work you midfield and keep procession of the ball. At the beginning I use C.R, Oshea, Scholes and Park JS in mid, and I lost the ball the most when the final ball is from Oshea.

- Passing also crucial in the final thru ball and counter attack, you will appreciate Carrick a lot when you need someone to deliver that final thru ball from your half to the other half to C.R to do a fast break from flank.

- Freekick: It is harder to score from more than 23 (meter or yard), the goal keeper move faster, they don’t even have to jump to catch any more. I have score 1 so far from 19 meters ( and I consider myself a pretty good freekicker)

Referee, game rules and other matter:

- Cards are handed out WAY MORE CORRECTLY then in PES5. How many times in PES5 when you are in a 1 on 1 with the gk and then that mother f*** CB just ram you with his feet right on your neck that you have to go to hospital for 12 weeks and all that CB get is a freaking talk show with a Ref. No more here brothers, if that f*** CB is the last defender, you have a good chance to give him a Red card by drawing the fault from him, especially if you already pass him. Even in midfield if the opponents tackle you hard, he will get Yellow card easily. All I say is: JUSTICE IS DONE.

- A lot of 1 on 1 situations with defender. This is definitely an unique feature of PES6. I have got myself in a lot of 1 on 1, it seems to me like Konami wants to encourage the 1 on 1 football so much that one you got into it, no defender gonna help out the poor defender guy. I have so much space around me whenever I engage into a 1on1 battle. No defender run behind me, no defender even care running back cover for the poor lad that I gonna jump all over.

- In a 1 on 1, the defender gonna back up just like real life football, you will have a lot of time to do the usual step over and bust thru the side.

There are some other changes but I’m writing too much already. Later.

overall i think it's a slight improvement. Not sure if it's worth full price. However, if you have a way of trying the full game before buying it, you should definately do that before spending any money.

Things that bug me so far (i haven't played online yet):

-playing defence is strange. It's like your guy is stuck in strafe mode. Defenders can't change direction fast enough and they seem to prefer sidestepping then just turning and running. Seems like Konami purposely made defending "sluggish" to provide more AI offence. This makes it a lot harder to defend, and a lot easier for tricky players to get by you. It's another clever cheating mechanism by Konami. They can try and hide it in different ways... but we all know it's still there.

-passing seems more accurate in mid-field and defence than in the attacking zone. I noticed this in PES5 and it seems like it's still here in PES6. For example i will control the ball effortlessly in mid field, but as soon as i get near the box, passing seems much harder and balls are a lot more likely to mysteriously go right to the defenders boot. This makes for really annoying "i did not pass in that direction" talking to yourself moments.
