Konami were only permitted to use two licenced FA Premiership teams, as EA have got the full Premiership licence for FIFA 07, so as they've now got Man Utd licenced, as well as Arsenal - Chelsea were the makeweights for the Man Utd licence.blackhawk8891 said:Neither has their attempt in licensing, apart from LFP. I mean Chelsea is now called London FC...wtf is that?!
aahh.. well.. i was waiting for that kind of comments..blackhawk8891 said:..Its really hard for me to say this being a fan of PES, but this year, FIFA 07>PES6. But still, PES5>FIFA06. So it balances i guess. lol
Cheers!
zerocool said:why do people give a dam about the graphics? as long as the animations are as good as the last game it doesn't make any significant difference to how you enjoy the game. unless your really superficial, lets face it most of you wont be playing the game the way seabass intended, same old tricks will be back - lurking outside the penalty box finding samey goals so you can make the game look like fifa, trying to win anyway you can

Then fine, try to go to an empty stadium to watch the game and tell me if u like it. Then watch the same game in a very old tv with bad blurred video and tell me if u like it.
Or go out and **** a beatiful woman and then an ugly woman, same gameplay...........but different graphics........

I would share many of ur views in this review.Aarfy Aardvark said:I really don't know what people are moaning about to be honest, the several scatter-brain rants are from people without the intellect to actually articulate any sense on the issue for those involved. Please save the server space and type something meaningful for christ sake.
Anyhoo. Yes, they are less teams (lol @ China) and licenses - and to be honest if this does radically effect you - then simply don't buy it. I've never once understood this argument, because this rhetoric comes from idiots who play Barcelona/Milan/Manchester United to death.
If you like a smooth playing, very engrossing and technical minded football game, then buy this. Graphically its a slight step up, but nothing that radical from previous versions. Animations are lot more sweeter, and the player animations as well the close control really adds to the feeling of the game whilst trying to sweep all those annoying miscontrols in PES5 under the rug.
What I do like about this game, is that it has plugged some of the annoying holes in the previous version - by getting rid of niggling fouls and employing a far more accurate shooting system. In the past it was far to easy and annoyingly ridiculous that a player could launch a thunderbolt from 30 yards when he was being closed down or was hitting on the angle on his weaker foot. When thing I've found is that, you really have to make the space for yourself, and its not as easy as shooting on sight with a superior player. The likelihood is those daft Adriano power-blasters are a thing of the past. You really have to understand your team, and the pick the right pass and the right shot at the right time.
Goalie animations are a lot, lot lot better. Plus the nicest thing about them is that they actual hold onto the friggin ball this time. There was chances in the previous version, whereby keepers would parry a fairly weak shot at the centre of their body. Another thing worth noting is that when you play on rainy conditons, the keeper can at times have the ball slip out of his hands. Which I thought was awesome. I also liked how Lehmann sort of fell into the net when I bent a Ronaldinho fk into the top corner. Keepers also now tip shots one handed around the post.
Heading is now a lot more harder as you really have to time it. It was so easy to either hold down the shoto button or bash it randomnly. Now you have to time it, so the player reaches the jump when the ball is in the air. In short, its a lot harder to get a good header on goal.
The long-balls are far better implemented for their range and scope. I think in the older version - it was very difficult to direct the long-ball. I also like the new long through ball passes. Before they were sort of chipped through, whereas now they are sort of cleverly driven over the top, which really adds to the direction of the play.
Tactics. Improved for the noob. Now includes an auto function that will pick your best team and formation/tactics to go with it. This is handy if you don't like setting things up and just want to play.
I also like the automatic selection team, where the computer picks a random team based on certain continents or via 3 seperate teams. That's a fun mode to play, and quite a challenging one to sort of play a certain way with players you're not used to.
Negatives?
* Of course if you like the Bundesliga, you are gonna have to wait for a patch to fill in those blank teams. Shame really, but if Fifa continue their oligarchy more fans will end up supporting that god-awful franchise for longer. Especially if it breeds more petulant fans.
* Far too easy for pros. I've not really found it a challenge yet on the highest level. The CPU, although very well implemented still doesn't really give a great test of your playing ability. But tbh, I think I need to break this a bit more - this is my impression after about 10 games.
* Tactical system is too laboured and at times confusing. They have removed such things as closing down, pressing etc. And now its a manual configuration. I also don't like the layout, its too confusing. The lock-on on the set-piece stats is a nice touch, as it helps you see who your best kick-taker is without having to trawl through the stats. Also shows if you have any PK specialists as well.
* Not really that much in terms of a leap, both in gameplay and in graphics. The graphics have been touched up somewhat, whilst the gameplay is merely and advanced and remastered one of PES5.
Whilst it would be so easy to jump on the Konami bashing bandwagon without even giving as so much thought to the game - I'm not really going to do that. Yes, its not a huge step-up and yes its not a massive improvement over the former - but on its own merits this is far and away still the best goddamn football game on the planet.
If you are a PES-aholic and want to make the step-up to a game that really tries and alleviates some of the annoyances of the previous version, then by all means this game is for you. However, if you feel as if £30 is a bit steep for what they are offering and you perhaps didn't mind what was in PES5, then its best to stick with the former.
I personally think this is far more technical in its approach and is now implementing gameplay that rewards player skill and awareness over the actual level of players you are commanding. Which in itself is a good thing for the longevitiy of the series.
I would hate this series to become a massive sell-out and start pandering itself to the lowest common-denominator. I personally don't care about licenses or about graphics, so long as you can play a good football simulation.
And as a long-suffering football fan who doesn't support a globally based money making oufit - the question of whether you really care about the actual principles over the vain immaterial goods should be a blindingly obvious one to anyone who can truly appreciate both the sport and the gaming off-shoots it creates.
