Commentary Call Names

I open this thread for collecting tools and patches for extending Commentary Call Names.

For installing new call names you need to use CM16 3.1.06 or further
Latest version is CM16 3.1.08 (added support for Arabic commentaries)

How to install a call names pack on your current FIFA 16
  1. Unzip the pack in a folder of your choice, check if the files are in .sps or .wav format
  2. With CM 16 open FIFA 16 as usual
  3. Click button Audio
  4. In the “Patching” section of the page click “Open Sound File” and choose your commentary language.
  5. Click the “Import Sounds (.sps format)” button or the “Import Sounds (.wav format)” according to the format of the files. Please note that importing wav files is much slower.
  6. Browse and select the files you want to import, wait for the import operation to be completed
  7. Click the Save Audio File button for saving the patched audio files
  8. Click the menu File\Save for saving the database
Please be aware that the sound name must perfectly match the surname of the player or the common name if it is not empty, including capital letters, blank spaces and accented characters. The original database do ont support all the accented characters, in order to have the full accented characters available there is an operation you should do once with your database. This operation must be done BEFORE to import a call names pack.

How to have the FIFA DB supporting all accented characters
  • Download DB Master version 24.0 or further
  • Open the DB you want to edit
  • Select the menu "Tools\Save and Patch Player Names"
  • Save the DB
you need to make this operation with your DB only once, after that all the accented characters will be supported.

How to install a call names pack on RFS
RFS db is ready to support accented characters.
All the steps are the same as above with the only exception of step 2:
2a - In CM 16 click “File\Open - Select All”
2b - Select the main FIFA 16 folder
2c - Select the database xml and DB files located in <ProgramData>\RFS\Templates\data\db
2d - Select your language DB from your FIFA 16 folder

Please note that <ProgramData> could be hidden, if you cannot find it, you need to change file explorer settings and enable the visualization of hidden files

How to create a call names pack
  1. In the “Exploring” section of the Audio page of CM16, select the file where the sounds are located, then choose “Generic Names”
  2. Check the the call names you want to export
  3. Click “Export Sounds (.sps format)”. SPS format is recommended because size is smaller and they are faster to import
  4. Export in a folder of your choice
  5. Some of the sounds exported could be “silent” sounds when the call name is not really available, you can recognize them because the size is 128 bytes. Unfortunately Windows Explorer rounds up the size to 1k but at least they are sorted correctly so you can easily find the last shorter call name that is not a silent one (for example it could be Tah or Bah). It is important to remove these files or the user importing the patch could replace an existing sound with a silent one.
  6. Finally create a zip and share it in this thread
where to find the commentary files? like english language?
bro also I have fifa 20 in my ea app library, any way I can help you with a request you made here?

I think you need Frosty Editor, then you have to browse for .sbs files (sorry, I can't be more precise)

for Germany, it could be great to extract the audiofiles because from fifa 16 to eafc 24, it was the same commentator

Not yet, somebody should extract call names from FIFA 20 that was the last year with Martin Tyler but, until now, nobody did it.

I have downloaded the game and I wanted to try it out. I now have the Frosty Editor but it is too complicated for me to access the playercallnames. I cannot figure out where to find them.

Unfortunately I do not have that version of FIFA so I cannot drive you exactly, but I can tell you how to find them in FC24 hoping that FIFA 20 is similar.
You should browse for sounds using the Data Explorer (on the left of the screen): they are in Sound\Speech\Commentary\eng_us\SoundWaves and then in the lower left part of the screen you will see the names of the various "groups sound", double click on those starting with pPLAYER_NAMES (all of them contain call names) then you will see on the right part of the screen a list of "sounds" that you can select and export as .wav... good luck.

Unfortunately, trying to open RFS Database via these steps:

2d - Select your language DB from your FIFA 16 folder

Solved. Thanks

Should be in the place you mentioned, but on the right side, the screen is empty or gives en error when loading soundfiles. But thats a frosty problem i think.

Generates an error while loading.

Double check you are loading the proper DB because it works fine for me.

Got it, I was in the wrong DB Folder in <ProgramData>\RFS\DB instead of <ProgramData>\RFS\Templates\data\db.
Okay I had the same issue but where do you even load up the database? Because for me I just had to select the FIFA 20 exe and then I open it up on frosty and then you are in the data explorer setting. What is the difference?

Okay yes, I was wondering what he meant, unfortunetly I can confirm that I had the same issue as Don TM, I don't know why Frosty Editor is not able to load up the sounds for FIFA 20. It is not possible to export anything

I exported the german playernames from Fifa 23. Now i have a lot of pPlayernames_simple_x_x.wav files. Is this correct? Tried to import them via CM to RFS, but nothing happens. Do they have correct names like this?

This would be amazing if we had Haaland and Mbappé etc in German
