I'm not a big fan either. There is a great competition right now for that 4th spot. Spurs, Liverpool, City and Aston Villa are all in the mix.

I wouldn't mind seeing playoffs being introduced for who gets relegated.
They used to have the winner of the playoffs playing the 3rd from bottom team to see who gets to play in the top division.
On another note, I reckon Everton will finish in the top 6.

so Wolves got fined for fielding a weakened side against Man Yoo ... can't believe the decision; absolutely ridiculous! and it sets a terrible precedent ... how the hell is not the prerogative of a team's coach to field the XI he wants?

this is not an uncommon practice in cup matches, so why should a league match be treated any differently?

and what makes it worse is that I am sure such a decision would not have been taken by the FA if the "weakened" Wolves had taken a point from the match ...

thoughts?

Ridiculous decision by the FA. Wolves also provided a valid reason for fielding a weakened team. How can you fine a team for playing their reserve players? There's no rule in football stating you can't do that!

I remember watching that match when it was played, and they were talking about a future fine already. Apparently, it's in the Premier League rules, that you should play your strongest possible team. Ridiculous.

Strictly speaking it wasn't in the premier league, but did anyone see Zamora's goal against Shakhtar Donetsk? Quality goal.

Btw, Pompey have had their appeal to sell players outside the transfer window rejected. My prediction is for Burnley and Hull to join them in relegation. Fascinating to watch, the relegation picture changes all the time.

I think a bigger question is will Pompey make it to May? And if not, does the third from bottom go down? because if Pompey get expunged (which could happen) then the Premiership will be down to 19 teams. Presumably that will require either another team coming up - or a "relegated team" staying up.

It's like wathcing a disaster unfold in slow motion.

I think the point is that Wolves rested the entire squad (10 players), and I don't think any of them were unable to compete.

Still a stupid rule.

the problem was Mick rested 10 players not 5 or 6.

Edit: Mandieta6, me and you posted the same thing at the same time, WTF.

The playoff system should NEVER happen. A team scratches and claws its way to 4th place and you want them to step aside in favor of the team in 7th place?

Glad Pompey bagged themselves a win today, they deserve a result.

Complete madness that Bridge got booed by the Chelsea fans, he did nothing wrong. I know he didn't shake Terry's hand but then I can't blame him really.

Title race and 4th place have got even more thrilling now.
