love your 20 seasons without a league :(.

sorry i I had to do it.

What´s your problem with Liverpool? I always liked Barca fans since that game at Anfield in 2007... but you are the exception.

He already said he doesn't like Liverpool because they didn't win a league for 20 years but people still consider them a top class team. :)

That's retarded. By that logic he would only like a handful of teams. It's also a form of gloryhunting, really.

Let's see if the thread can survive this time, ok?

There's lots to talk about outside the Top 4 + Spurs + City.

This thread is for any discussion about the Premiership, or any teams which are not supported enough on the forum to have their own team thread.

So, any thoughts about the season so far? I know a lot of people are really liking Burnley, but how long do you think it'd take for Turf Moor to lose its impact?

Right now, this is my bet on the final standings:

1. Chelsea
2. Manchester United
3. Arsenal
4. Liverpool
5. Tottenham
6. Aston Villa
7. Manchester City
8. Sunderland
9. Everton
10. Fulham
11. Stoke City
12. West Ham
13. Blackburn
14. Bolton
15. Burnley
16. Wolves
17. Portsmouth
18. Wigan
19. Hull City
20. Birmingham

Bottom five to be very close, I can see any of them going down.

Wow, that's really off. A revised table:

1. Chelsea
2. ManU
3. Arsenal
4. Spurs

5. Villa
6. City
7. Liverpool

8. Everton
9. Fulham
10. Birmingham
11. Stoke
12. Sunderland
13. Bolton
14. Blackburn
15. West Ham
16. Portsmouth
17. Wolves
18. Wigan
19. Hull
20. Burnley

And my reasoning is:

Top 4:
Everyone in the Top 4 but Chelsea have looked weaker this season. They've had their moments, just like Chelsea has had a bad run, but neither Arsenal or ManU really look like they can cut it. ManU have basically replaced Ronaldo with Rooney as their guy to count on, and it's not going to cut it. Unless Berbatov and Owen start taking some weight off him, he's going to burn out, or the opposition will just double-mark the **** out of him. ManU have a good squad, but the fact that Giggs is still the creative spark says less about him and more about the team as whole. Their best aspect in recent years, the defense, has been torn apart by injuries and it-ll take time before the best back 5 are playing consistently at the top of their game. Frankly, if either Rooney or Fletcher get injured for a few weeks, I-d give their spot to Arsenal.

Credit to Arsenal, they've managed to cut an 11 point buffer to 0. Also, Verminator and Song have filled in the two positions which Arsenal lacked in the most. But they're still not just quite there. The fact of the matter is they're not that hard to manipulate and many teams just muscle them into playing in a way they don't like. Also, whatever Rooney is to ManU, Cesc is double that to Arsenal. He's already getting the **** tackled off him, won't be long before his effectiveness is severely handicapped.

I went for Spurs because they're the ones with the best overall squad out of the contenders. They have muscle and spark and enough good players to be able to offer something new when things aren't working. They won't be able to beat the big sides, unlike City and Villa, but I think they'll do better overall.

UEFA: I gave 3 spots because I'm pretty sure at least the Carling winner will already be in Europe. There's a good chance it could become 4 spots, more if an English sides wins UEFA. Anyway, if Spurs don't do it, Villa will. They also have a great squad, and they do so on a tighter budget. Honestly, Villa are my 2nd favorite Premiership team, and they've proven that they can handle the big boys. I'm tipping Villa to beat Arsenal tomorrow, too. They're a great side, and O'Neill deserves some CL footie, he's done an awesome job. City are a fantastic side, in attack. They still haven't found their feet in defense, and if it weren't for Given, they'd be far behind in the race. The defense will improve with time, and they could challenge for the title if things go their way, next year. The last spot went to Pool. Even thought they're a crap side in a top 4 kit, they're still better than most, and they do have world-class and some very good players at the squad. If fitness goes their way, they could have a good run, but I hope they don't even get a European spot and Rafa gets sacked. About time.

Midtable Security: I really wanted to give Everton the last UEFA spot, but they're quite far behind, and the squad is paper-thin, you just gotta expect someone will get injured and they'll lose more points along the way. Birmingham's position is a result of a good run based on consistency, it will take one bad result or one injury to undermine that. Well done to McLeish for doing what he's done, but that bad result will come tomorrow, and Brum won't get relegated, r be close to the battle, but I doubt they'll get a European spot either. Everton and Fulham will overcome them because they're professional clubs headed by top managers. Everton are simply better, and Fulham share a lot of qualities with Brum, only they're better at most of them. Again, injuries and fitness could make any of these sides fail or succeed.

I really like Stoke. They play their way and when that works they can make it really hard for any side. The Britannia is a tough place to go to, and the Delap throw has proven to sitll be effective. They're also a very decent side. Fuller, Tuncay, Huth, Sorensen, Etherington, all good players. I think their bad away form is keeping them down, but every season they'll get better so long as Pulis is in charge and he gets some backing. Sunderland should really be where Brum are now. They have the squad and the manager for it. I honestly find it hard to believe that they're 3 points off the danger zone. That said, when Keane got them promoted I said they would challenge for UEFA immediately based on the perceived strength of their squad and boy was I wrong. They'll stay up, safely, but they need to step it up, it would be unforgivable for them to be in the relegation battle towards the end, and if they do relegated, I can't see them coming back with all those big names who will obviously leave.

I've become a fan of Coyle, and he was one of the reasons I tipped Burnley to stay up. With him at Bolton, I doubt that'll happen. Coyle will prove to be a breath of fresh air for Bolton and he will get them to safety. And they have Tamir Cohen, they better ******* stay up.

Safe: Allerdyce isn't a stranger to avoiding the drop and he can get unfashionable sides to push above their weight. They really need to get going soon, or they could face the drop, but I'm hoping for a Di Santo goal-scoring run to lead them to safety. West Ham are in a bad place partly because of their squad getting crippled, but I maintain that they'll stay up. At the end of the day they're not amongst the worse 4 squads in the Prem, and they'll struggle, but they'll make it through.

Now Portsmouth will probably go down. But, I have faith that Grant and Ben-Haim will keep them up. Frankly, they're not that bad a side, and a lot of people are surprised that they're doing so badly right now. They'll suffer right unitl the end, but so long as they don't lose too many points to their direct rivals, they can make it. But unless the financial stuff gets sorted if they don't get relegated now it will happen next season. I think Wolves are capable of surviving, because they know how to defend, but they need to step off the breaks against the bottom sides. Unless they beat Hull and co, they're going down.

Relegated: Now, frankly, I just don't like any of these sides anymore. It's bizarre because under Wigan under Bruce, Burnley under Coyle and 2008's Hull were all sides I rooted for. But Wigan are damn irregular, and if that keeps happening, they'll get leapfrogged by the other teams who will have good runs for a few matches. They'll fight to the end, and there's a good chance they'll make it, but this was the same problem at the start of the season and if it's ot fixed now, why would it be fixed by May?

Hull can avoid the drop if Bullard gets back. He is by far and away their best player. Las season they always had someone on form who was better than the rest, e.g Geovanni, to help them through. But they're a really weak side when we come down to it, and I wouldn't mind seeing them go. Hopefully Bullard transfers to Everton or Brum or somewhere like that. He's a UEFA-calibre player and World-cup winner personality, shame he's at Hull.

All Burnley have going for them is Turf Moor. Coyle was a huge part of their success, and some of their best players are really old. They'll go down, because even with Coyle they relied solely on their home form, and there are just so many sides that outclass them in every department, I can't see how they'll keep it up. Relegated for sure, probably bottom.

****. That should keep you going for a week.

Team Captain
It has been a crazy of a season so far. Much more competitive and more interesting than the previous seasons when only 2 or 3 teams were competing for the top spot.

I still think Liverpool will qualify for the CL in the end. I don't know why but I still think the top 4 will be United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool (in no particular order) again. The only team which can break in the top 4 is City IMO. Its gonna be either City or Liverpool along with these other 3 teams IMO.

I think you're just going for name-value.

In terms of actual performance against the specturm of teams in the league, Villa and Spurs are the teams to back.

I'm not suggesting Pool and City can't do it, but I'd be surprised if they do.
