Dont try to tell me otherwise. Dont tell me there's so and so games left. Dont tell me that it's not over till it's over with Man Utd cause I'm sick of it. The 98/99 season is over people, stop hinting that theres some kinda magic in the team that enables them to magically come back. It could've been so differently, but there's 1 event that triggered a whole chain of events for man utd. It all started back at Southampton. We looked ordinary for the whole match, kinda like how we are in all our games now. Many people think we needed something to spice up the attack, but as we continued to win after that no one paid attention.
Now fast forward to the winter time to the transfer window. Everyone wanted us to get an attacker, so Sir Alex firmly set his heart on Louis Saha, not knowing how much that would cost the team. BAM, Rio Ferdinand gets in this whole missed drug affair, the transfer window slams shut leaving us without the heart of our defense, and nothing to do about it. Without a confident defense, our attack cant be confident, therefore their form slumps as well.
That's how it all got to this sad sad stage. Now imagine if Rio didn't miss that test, what would things be like? Well, for one we'd have a solid defense, our attack would've been bolstered by the arrival of Saha, and we might've actually been wrestling with Arsenal for first place, maybe 1 point behind or ahead of them. But no, it wasn't meant to be, and I see no way back for man utd. No 98/99 season, no dramatic extra time season comeback. This is reality, and in reality, we have an ordinary team, on low confidence.
You gotta hand it to Arsenal, they're keeping a tight ship, and undefeated in some what? 29 games? Is astronomical. I applaud them, because they are undoubtedly the champions of England. Dont expect me to have a Real Madrid sig in a few minutes , I'll always support man utd 100%, but I'm also a realist, and this is the reality of things.
