My experience with crashes that you need to run the mod under the same conditions modders run theirs like their properties sittings windows/operating system they use and version of NET framework and directX they installed.. the more you come close to their PC conditions the better for avoiding crashes so if modders kindly let us know these sittings it will alot.

But e.g. FIP does ajdust the start year, or am I not understanding something properly? I would expect it to be encoded somewhere, hence it could be changed.


Are there any weird file formats involved?

In order to simplify work for others I would guess that some additional tooling might help, maybe something for automatically generating or patching those files from some easy-to-understand source, like a yaml file?

That would be work for a software developer, and once it's done people would have a far easier life. Of course some documentation would be crucial here.


This shouldn't be one person's job. And I understand that it is far less fun than modding. If you can name some sources of relevance I could set up a google docs document and start by copy-pasting stuff in there. Such a document could grow over time and would eventually contain the information needed to prepare mods in the future.

I haven't really followed all those threads where this information may be distributed, because I am more an occasional player and haven't really got the resources to spend a lot of time on this. But a modest contribution is something I could provide.

Like many I think that FIFA 14 is still a good platform, as it can be modded rather well. This may also apply for some of the later versions, but there are various drawbacks, like lack of the ECL, gameplay issues other than with FIFA 14 and probably less acceptable, etc.

But apart from that, happy to see you drop in again! I have been missing your posts here....
