Very well put. The Hong Kong government hasn't put in a lot of money in sports in general. Football has always been a sport that is in great need of money at all levels. THe league is small, disappointing and the fan base is idea.

It also has to do with another thing. There is a prejudice towards being a professional football player. Since pros don't earn much, parents simply brush football off as a bad profession, only for those who are unedcuated. Youngsters are discouraged to put in time for youth sports as parents simply think playing football to earn a living is unrealistic and not rewarding.

Youth sports has a very different connotation in Hong Kong, compared to other parts of the world, say America.
you are right and you express much better than me :p
i have only read the first page before i post... our opinions are quie alike. Hong Kong league is so small with only about 7 to 8 clubs.... earning money is another big concern

no Houston but I'll be coming back soon. Xmas.

I wish there were organised amateur football leagues for me. Wish I had player in the school teams. Wish I was actually encouraged to do so.

Instead, my parents believe in more schooling, after school.

It's really a cultural thing. that's why I decided tndo coach kids soccer when I came to NC. We had a smashing season. 3 losses, 2 draws, 3 wins. Not bad since the kids have never player with each other before. They all became a team in the end and did very well.

Coaching soccer, way better than CM and FM. Seeing your tactics work gives you such satsifaction =) :rockman: (woops, really went off topic there.)

Well, while it's been dug up, can someone answer something for me?
What happened to Nakata, how come he's getting benched at Fiorentina?

I love him dearly (he was a supersub for a while) but at Parma I started to doubt his skills, but Bologna seemed to prove to me that he still had it in him.
It's impossible for me to get Serie A games so can someone explain to me why he's now a sub at Fiorentina? From the soccernet match reports it seemed like he was consistently putting in some nice crosses and whatnot...

U r right man. We need youngsters to take up the game. But it the school/college's responsibility to have facilities and encourage them.Studies r important but there should be emphasis on sports as well equally. In India, youth sports means just one thing....circket :kader:

In China there alot of talents to be found.... Back to where I lived there were elementary schools just for soccer, and those 7 or 8 year old kids were fast as hell and could juggle thousands....

There are alot of potential, but the problem with football development in China is the corruption of government and society is linked with football. In the Chinese league for example, there is almost "black-whistle" everyday, and teams pay each other to fix matches... Everything is about money, those big fat owners don't care about developing Chinese football, all they want is money and championship...which is more money.....

Also the professional players in China get way too overpaid. I remember an article 4 or 5 years ago with a Croatian player in China saying that he makes 5 times as much as he does in the Croatian league, even though the standard of the Chinese league is lower... Those players and clubs need to realize that money is not everything, improvement matters.

Again, there is a lot of talent to be found in China, but the problem is corruptness and scandals... Young players are great until they become professionals or play in a league where money is involved. Then everybody gets greedier and nothing gets done...

All you people masturbating over Japanese players:

Japan doesn't love you back. Sorry.

Germany got beat 3 to 1 by Korea. Klinsmaan's first loss. Japan's Zico really needs to be sacked, they lost 3 to 0 to Germany.

so? it was just a friendlydude, no need to be cocky.
Zico tried his best, Korea is a good team, i can tell you that, but they haven't put a great performance since Guus Hinddink left,
Japan is growing to be an alright team, what's dissapointing is Korea, and what's good about japan, is that football is not their no. 1 sport, so they are not dissapointing no one, it's a pity though, but at least they tried their best, Korea's been in more world cups than Japan, so what are you on about, duh japan lost, they don't have a lot of experience than Korea, i find Japans loss as experience, you do hve to always face loss sometime...

oh yeah Hyun, since you have a Feyenoord banner, that must mean you support, you should know a japanese footballer plays in Feyenoord, so show some respect for Ono...

I wasn't bashing Japan. Beside, Korea still got more work to do in reconstruction. I was bashing people who masturbate over Japanese players acting pretty much like wannabe Japanese and embrace everything Japan.

And I was worrying over Japan. I never said Korea was better than Japan or anything.

You Japanese? Or those people I was just talking about? Either way, take a chill pill, and reread my comment.
