I heard Everton signed Li Wei Feng by mistake......they were meaning to pick Li Tie, but picked the wrong Li by mistake, so now they have to sign both.........

IMO Asians are really breaking through on the world stage. Nakata, Inamoto, Ono, Sun JiHai and Li Tie.......all of these are great players and show how much potential Asian football has......

Nakata is not the best...
I personally think Shunsuke Nakamura is better..even though i hate the bloody guy...Inamoto's kewl, Atsushi Yanagisawa's kewl but Nakata is a commercialized idiot, that can't play...how can he be good, look at him at the world cup 2002! everything was focussed on him, Inamoto, only go the spotlight when he scored his first goal and he was sooh much better! And Nakata isn't better than Shearer Gawd NO!

but i do agree that asians are going better...Yo****o Okubo's a pro...even though his short... the japanese are going better, but know offense to the koreans ...even though they are considered as the best of the East Asia...i reckon the Japanese are better...i dunno Koreans bug me for some reason, maybe b coz in school people love k~pop so much and i'm the one who loves J~pop.
i hate Ahn Jung Hwan...Song Chion Gug is sooh Much better9

Asian players are too polite. They're already smaller than most other players.

They're not aggressive enough, not much tackling.

Young Asian players have potential but they never fully develop into good players. There are many factors why they never develop and that's too bad because Asia can be a force to be reckon with if they can develop good players. It seems Japan, with their Brazilian influence, knows how to develop players the best.

Why is it Asian is always related with people with small eyes and yellow coloured skin ? Asia does not consist only Japan and China. They`re eastern Asia. Asia also consist Arab, Iran, Qatar, etc which are Western Asia. And their body figures are not smaller than Europeans. And I don`t think the size of your body doesn`t mean anything in football. Take a look at Maradona, he isn`t tall, but that doesn`t stop him from being a God personification. And if you think that Asians are too polite then you must watch more Asian football. The tackles are hard, I can`t believe that comment came from someone who lives in Hong Kong.

One of Fulham's brightest academy players in Zesh Rehman. He is now a regular in defense. He's got Asian blood in him. Think there's a peice on him on the BBC website, certainly on fulhamfc.com

======================

We are lacking asian players in football..... why is that?

I would say lack of parental support even opposition to children's sporting activities is a major reason of virtual scaricity of Asian talent on show in the professional football and other sports, here in the U.K. Also there wa colour prejudice to hinder their progress from the very beginning which is being rooted out with a lot of success. The other day I was visiting my nephew and met a man there who told me the story of a Pakistani boy who was offered an apprenticeship in football by one of the professional league clubs. The boy was a good prospects but the inherint prejudice of Pakistani parents against taking up professional sport as a career, stood in the way. His parents wanted him to be a doctor or a lawyer (like most pakistani parents). The parents won and the boy is struggling to get through his GCSE studies. I can relate to this child's situation. My friend who was a great talent and whoever watched him play as a youth said that he wil make it to the top. True to form he was picked by his school for trials at Hertfordshire county. Days before the trials, while playing football, he broke his ankle and ended up having a metal plate inserted in his ankle. He had this plate for two years but after that he was not the same player. He was disappointed and i could see it on his face. But carried on playing, he loved football. Played for his University II. Got his degre, came back home. Got a job, but coould not give up football. He started to work with our local professional club in community division for development of footbal specially among the asian youth and also studied for a coaching licence. I am pleased to say he has acquired UEFA CCoaching Licence
and intends to carry on (in addition to his regular job) as long as possible. But as I said above majority of asian parents don't take professional sport as a worthwhile career and anything less than a doctor or a lawyer is a failure to them. As long as this attitude is prevailing i am afraid sporting talent of our youngsters will continue to go to waste. What a shame.

I think Japan,China,Korea and the Middle-East countries like Iran,Saudi Arabia are excellent. They r all well developed teams.

But i believe that the most important thing that affects an asian player in Europe is the temperature ! I mean take the example of my country,India, where 40 degrees is normal. If a player from here goes to Europe,he simply would have to cope with the cold temp. But if u ask any player what temp would be better,he would certainly answer 14 degrees Cel.

Talent is everywhere. What asian countries need is professional coaching, proper infrastructure and media coverage. The next big thing in football is certainly the asian players.

Wish India would start towards proper development at the grassroot level.

Very well put. The Hong Kong government hasn't put in a lot of money in sports in general. Football has always been a sport that is in great need of money at all levels. THe league is small, disappointing and the fan base is idea.

It also has to do with another thing. There is a prejudice towards being a professional football player. Since pros don't earn much, parents simply brush football off as a bad profession, only for those who are unedcuated. Youngsters are discouraged to put in time for youth sports as parents simply think playing football to earn a living is unrealistic and not rewarding.

Youth sports has a very different connotation in Hong Kong, compared to other parts of the world, say America.

I m a Hong Kong 16-yo boy and i think that Asian players are quite good. But the fact is that our body build is not as strong as European players.

and in some asian places like Hong Kong, the government dont really care about football training. maybe its because Hong Kong is very small and finding some good fields for training are difficult. Moreover, in HK, professional players can not earn much money and HK society thinks that academic result of students are so important.

but in recent years, i can see that more training courses are opened by government and goverment started to invite many different big clubs from Europe like Real Madrid, Liverpool, AC Milan, Newcastle to play some exhibition games here.

IMO, Asian players are agile, hard work. but stamina and strength is really important in present football world.
