I refuse to watch Game of Thrones.
Same here, the time period and the theme that the series is based on doesn't really suit me.

Same thing with Boardwalk Empire that a lot of people praise. I gave the first season a go, maybe 5 or 7 episodes, and it didn't really impress me. Seemed too slow-paced to me, and the characters weren't that interesting which could've made up for it. Made me lose interest quite quickly. I think it's quite overhyped. So i believe i haven't missed out on much.

Don't be so fast to judge. I generally hate fantasy as a genre, especially that sort of middle ages themed stuff. But I absolutely love Game of Thrones. Surprised myself.

Yeah, i sometimes tend to do that. But i don't really see myself watching it in the near future.

Watching the pilot wouldn't hurt, but still that doesn't give you the whole idea, at least 3 episodes would be required in my case to spark some interest. Maybe some day.
I haven't got anything to watch at the moment though. True Detective ended a while ago, as did Shameless on Monday.

Definitely in this case. The first couple of episodes are mostly about character development. It's not a sitcom, so there was no real "pilot" to speak of. It was made as a series, and they didn't try too hard to hook people with one early episode.

Mmm.. In general most of the TV shows that i highly appreciate start slow and the way you described. So i guess that's a positive sign. I'm highly selective when it comes to choosing a series to watch though.

And not that it would have anything to do with Game of Thrones, but just to mention i'm really not into sitcoms, only with a few exceptions.
