Top 10 albums of 2005

Blunt. ;)

Jeff Buckley had the better voice, singing ability, talent and sex appeal. Couldn't swim, though :(

Meanwhile, American Idiot just rots itself with self-indulgence.

"This is a political album... 'cos ... erm.... Bush sucks, woo!"

Aside from the title track, the political influence is non-existant. Just jump on the bandwagon and it'll sell. Throw in a couple of remarkably overblown videos to take away 20 minutes of my life and you've got yourself a band that's just imploded.

I agree with all that but all 13 songs on the album are just great, at the end of the day and in my opinion.

I can't remember if I've posted in this thread but I think I did. I'd also like to add Some Cities - Doves to my list. And Shindig, dare I say it, I think it's better than The Last Broadcast.

Ebonix

YELLOW CARD - Sarcasm

My favorite album is Madvillain - Madvillainy

Close call. I prefer Last Broadcast because it had more standout tracks. I'll give Some Cities another spin, though. It's a really close call, when I think about it.

oh, you have your own band? you must enlighten us! you can't pull anything out of your ass in the genre of this how you say.. rock n roll? oh 'great pariah of rock n roll', you must be totally right. either that, or you're just shit. personally, I think it's just the latter.

dude, who da hell asked you anything about it? I'm defending a band, what's your ****in business comin' and trying to insult me with anything to do with my band or my taste for rock without even knowing me? the whole point of my post is to explain why the Tokyo Dragons are a great ****in rock band, and I used my own experience to value them, which is perfectly reasonable... and you can't even take that and make a decent comment on it, you just want to offend me for whatever reason? dude, honest, I don't see how you can get some kind of arousal out of such reply, I really don't wanna think about your twisted ways, but you could at least post something usefull for some discussion... that kind of reply just let's us presume you don't have any opinion on the matter

I'm just informing you that you don't have the credibility. just talking about some failed attempts at doing something isn't much of an argument.

stop calling me dude, and take this so personally.

well, it's normal to take something personally when you directly refer to me as ****

and credibility? who are you to judge that? I did not mention any failed attempts by the way, I reckoned the hardness of making such great songs, and used it to praise the Dragons. I work hard to reach their level, so I look up to them. The album is pretty ****in awesome, and that was the whole point of my post, and you probably didn't even listen to it to try to understand what I meant, you just tried to be funny by trashing me and trying to come out on top as if you're a better music expert than me, as if there was a way to compare that...

Here's Classic Rock magazine's top 10 rock albums of 2005

For those who don't know, Classic Rock is the most well reputed rock n roll magazine in the world (it's british, obviously), and has the biggest music review section of all music magazines. It's content is purely rock, from older classics like The Who and Zeppelin, to current mainstream like System of a Down or Green Day, to Patton's wacko briliance, to scandenavian death metallers, to young rock phenoms like The Answer. These guys are the top experts when it comes to rock n roll.

They got together and selected the top 50 rock albums of the year

That's a justified position for Opeth. But at the same time, I'm baffled by the fact that The Darkness made the list -- let alone ranked #1. It's comical, really.

I also thought so, but here' their justification

"1) The Darkness - One Way Ticket To Hell... And Back

The honest truth is that we spent hours trying to talk ourselves out of making One Way Ticket... our album of the year. We tried putting Plant, Porcupine Tree or System Of A Down in the no.1 spot but, as great as they all are, none of them convinced. And then we wondered why we were trying to get out of what was staring at us in the face.
Quite simply, The Darkness's second album refreshes the parts other albums don't reach. Funny, clever, brilliantly produced, catchy as hell, it's an album that longs for and harks back to more innocent days, to an age when frontmen were flamboyant, riffs ruled and concepts were king. Other album might be cooler, some might be face-savingly extreme, but admit it - none are as enjoyable as this one."
