well Almeida don't play in Porto (unfairly IMO) but still played and scored for the U21. Postiga is clearly out of form.

and when Basto will have an opportunity? he is doing a good season in holland.

I also agree. When the hell will Scolari realise that Ricardo is error-prone? For f*cks sake, call up Moreira, and START HIM. There's no reason not to.

P. Ferreira - Carvalho - Andrade - Miguel is the way to go atm, no portuguese full back comes even close to these two.

The only player I'd give a shot in the lineup would be Petit because he's in amazing form... but we would lose aerial ability by switching Costinha for him... so dunno.

i can only remember one mistake in league matches by Ricardo, dude, that shot from outside the area vs Moreirense...

of course on NT it has been a different story :rolleyes:

hope he makes a couple of mistakes tonight, though hehehehehe(H)

Petit looked pretty tired against Marítimo, so I agree with you, he should play the whole 90 minutes vs Luxembourg. :p

As for our defense, I think everybody agrees with that line-up. They might need some chemistry, but that comes with training and playing matches together.

Yeah, great to see Manuel Fernandes there! I think he totally deserves being called up! :)

Apart from that, it's the usual and what we were expecting (but I'm glad to see Meira back!), considering the players that are unavailable.

First of all, where's Maniche?! Do u think the amount of players called to the NT represents the quality of a team? Gimme a break... Just to remember, u can't forget that are 3 or 4 players in Porto's team (not counting Maniche) that could be called to the NT(Nuno Valente, Ricardo Costa, Quaresma, Postiga... do u want more?).

Maniche OBVIOUSLY wasn't called up, because he just came from a long stoppage from injury! Man, is it so hard to understand? Or is it the fanaticism speaking louder and the pleasure of dissing Scolari?

Everybody knows Scolari considers Maniche an essential first team player, so there's absolutely no problem at all here. He just didn't pick him because he was out for a long time. Some people want to creat problems about everything! :rolleyes:

About the others you mention: Valente, the same thing as Maniche; Ricardo Costa - you're joking right?; Quaresma - ATM, he's not playing enough (in quantity or quality) to be called to the first team); Postiga - Scolari also likes him, but he chose only 2 forwards and how could he call him instead of Pauleta or Nuno Gomes when he doesn't play and hasn't scored a single goal this season?

Can't people, just for once, put clubism aside?

Well, I agree, I think he should usually be called, but this time he couldn't, even if Scolari wanted, because he's also injured.

nakamura, uor talking about DFM being all for clubismo, just look at what Punkt has said.

When Maniche and Nuno Valente return they are shoe-ins to be called up. Fernandes is only replacing Maniche.

Quaresma can also be called up, he's been our best player lately. Even Bosingwa can be called up..

And yes Ricardo Costa should have been called up. He's the only portuguese player actually playing left-back, and unlike when Rocha was doing it, Costa is doing it extremely well. what's the problem with Costa.

That's besides the point, it's the ***in national team for god sakes, who cares who's called up as long as they do the job
