I've got a really bad impression for crouch for some reason and I don't know what he's done to deserve it. When ever he comes on I grit my teeth. I got a memory of him falling over all the time, with his legs flying around.

I seem to recall one game he fell over into another England player which knocked him onto the ball and scored lol.

My mental perception is that he's untidy, but the fact is he scores goals.

That was Owen.

He's not actually untidy, he looks untidy, but so does Kanu. That's just the way they're built. Crouch is actually a great passer.

I was very impressed by Capello's substitutions. He clearly has a Plan B which Eriksson did not have. Carrick was very effective, as was Crouch obviously.
So do you guys think there would be any room for Young and Agbonlahor in that squad?

Same for me. I think because he's got such tall legs when he pokes one out to score it looks like the shot has been scuffed into the net. I always think watching him the goals are very scruffy but that may not necessarily be the case. He's got a good record with us so I'm happy for him to be on the plane at least.

Agreed on the first part. I think breaking up the 'marquee' partnership of Lampard and Gerrard in the centre has helped, although the continued inclusion of both makes us a little light out wide left and against a side like Brazil or Spain with Maicon and Ramos bombing forward that could be a big weakness. Milner perhaps could solve that if he played and I would then propose benching (most likely) Lampard and playing Gerrard where Lampard currently plays but with more license to go forward. I actually was pleased the other night that Capello went for the Rooney-Defoe partnership simply to prove (what I previously believed) to everyone that wanted it that it quite frankly doesn't work. Showed also for me the value of Heskey to the side. I wanted to see if Carlton Cole could provide what Heskey does but with more goal threat. Capello didn't give him enough time.

I don't want Young or Agbonlahor anywhere near that WC squad, every time they've put on that England shirt they've looked worse than average. They're both doing well for Villa and their time will come, but it isn't 2010 for me I'm afraid. Too many other options.

lol if England select Hargreaves, shows how desperate they are. I'm guessing they'll play with Carrick as the holding role partnering Lampard and Gerrard on the left. Capello never uses both Gerrard and Lampard as CM. There are other options for Capello like Scott Parker.

Milner is not a holding midfielder. Playing Milner with Lampard will be like playing with Gerrard and Lampard together i.e. 2 attack minded midfielders together. It wouldn't work. Milner would be an excellent backup for both wings. Huddlestone is also being mentioned. Hargreaves should be last resort.

He's retured 4 years ago lol. No way he'll come back to the England setup. And he's an attacking midfielder as well. England has enough attacking midfielders: Gerrard, Lampard, Milner. That's more than enough. England has only 1 holding midfielder (Carrick) if Barry doesn't make it. At least 1 more is needed to backup Carrick. The options are: Parker, Huddlestone, and Hargreaves.

hahahah, my friend saw your post and he said "OK. if Scholes is retired, how about his v2, sidwell".

Its time for Carrieck to prove himself.

And Carrick's been ****e lately.

Is Jenas injured? If you're considering Parker and Huddlestone, you might as well consider him as well. He's worse than both of them, but more suited for the role. At least more than Parker.

I'm wondering who they're going to partner with Rooney up front.

Speaking of strikers, I was thinking about Argentina today and realized something truly amazing- Argentina can go to the World Cup with FOUR strikers who have scored 20 goals or more for their club this season (Messi 32, Higuain 27, Tevez 23, Milito 20). That is truly amazing. And that's not even to mention Aguero!

Don't forget Lisandro and Palermo as well, who have been profilic for their respective clubs. We only got Lamps(who's not a striker) along with Rooney and Bent to choose from.

Well, I think if Fabio wanted to try out something different with England for the friendly matches before the World Cup begins, he could try dropping Gerrard in favour of Lampard playing in an advanced role. Knowing Capello, where club form is paramount to guarantee a starting place, I think Frank should be given the position where he can play at his best.
Gerrard has been terrible this season. If Barry makes it fit or Hargreaves takes over, Lamps should be given the license to run play from midfield and freedom to attack. He's been held back when playing with Gerrard and I think that's why he hasn't been as prolific as he's been for Chelsea.

Although I am skeptical about this, I hope that Fabio gives Joe Cole a chance to at least show what he can do in an England shirt. Because as mentioned before, Coley can bring something different that none of the other midfielders can. The way he played when he came on against Wigan, it looked as if he was really determined and he looked like the Joe Cole of old.
