The_Knight, if the law helps just ONE woman to free herself from her family/community pressure, I'm all for it. Don't give me that crap that there's no pressure because it's a known fact that the muslim communities in France like in so many other countries, keep to themselves and dont like to mix. I was just watching a documentary the other day about women who chose the non-muslim path and their family just stopped speaking to them.

Wether you try to hide it or accept it, this is a social/personal freedom issue against the freedom to wear a piece of cloth that your religion obligates. Yes it will not solve anything for now but it's a start.

When you have problems like this you have to think about what's more important. To you it may be the freedom of wearing the veil in schools, but I guarantee you that for the majority of the western world it's the social/personal freedom.


Wether you're willing to face them or not, and you obviously aren't it's your problem, but don't turn this into a discrimination/racism issue because it's just not.
It's not like the french government is saying in the offices: "Let's hurt those goddamn muslims however we can". If it was anything like that they'd close down mosques.
