And it is relevant, it just isn't conclusive by any means, shape or form. The best indication for performance in most contexts is previous performance. Youth player output is also not entirely depedant on potential, but opportunity and training. The latter two are not that different between the established period and the projected (as very few players are actually leaving) so it is not only relevant but likely indicative, that Barca have not had success with getting high-end contribution from their youth players since 3-4 managers ago.
Montoya/Bartra/Adriano will not replicate Alves' output, if they were capable of that they'd do it and Barca would be rid of him already.
I'm sure all of those players are pefectly fine footballers but you're using videogame logic. You have a crop of players with potential, you have 1-2 spots for them so you predict that you can select the best ones and they'll fill in. That doesn't translate to the real game. There is no way any single one of them will be able to step in and play at the same level even aging Xavi was playing at. If they were able to do so, they'd be regular squad players by now.
There will be a decline, the question is whether it will be significant enough to chip away enough points from your haul to allow the waiter to swoop in.

Deulofeu hasn't been a flop. He started very well at Sevilla, he was in the starting XI and then something happened, not sure what. Barça wanted to bring back Deulo and Denis because of the transfer ban and since then, Emery gave up on them. Deulofeu is out of the squad and Denis barely plays. Emery said something like Deulofeu is a great player but selfish and he didn't want to built the team around 2 players that would leave after 1 season. Emery didn't care about him since then, while at Everton they cared more it seems.
Someone must work with him in the psychological aspect so that he can cut the selfishness bullshit and be a team player. It's good to be selfish sometimes, but he is at another level.
Anyway, Deulofeu deserves 1 season with Barça. Lucho and the player can change him.
