Wow almost a perfect player!! I do believe ratings are out of 100 yes? Haha, I'm not sure EA have that quite right, but hey it's fun!

NK how come after I install your GP Update I see another version of the game installed in terms of size wise it says - 3067.00 MB GP Update plus the original install...Is there really a need to chew up this much storage?? Can I delete the orig?

How soon will v5 be publicly released?

It is still in beta development, although it plays better than v3 and v4 easily, I am concentrating on ball physics, shooting and goalkeepers. The ball physics are going to look well tuned and realistic; in fact I believe they'll be the most realistic for FIFA 06. The goalkeeper balancing and shooting is going to appeal to a gamer such as Ockham who believes in fair play and balancing, yet a challenging game, but not in a form of 'disadvantage'. I assure you all now that this game in no way has a disadvantage 'feel' to it. When you play the matches you realise that the better team stands out, the faster more skilled players' stand out and you'll score some amazing goals and so will the CPU. You'll see shots hit the post when usually they'd go in or the keeper would magically save them. Goalkeepers are much more diverse and they're not perfect. So far v5 is the best keeper tuning I have created for FIFA 06.

If I was to guess when it could possibly be released, I'd say April Friday 14th. but this is not confirmed.

I have never come across this before, it was you who also had the difficulty mode problems, something which my update does nothing too (that been the option to choose a certain difficulty mode). I'm not sure what's going on, but I doubt my update installs a new FIFA 06 onto your computer with a 3067MB installation, when the download is not even 1MB! That would be some Bill Gates sh!t right there!!! Ultra Winzip :p

V5 is been developed slowly and tested in Practice mode and 16 minute matches to ensure realism and low scores with potential high scores in certain matches.

Many games will be 0-0, 1-0, 2-0, but some games can be 5-0, 3-2, etc. Much more diverse than before.

Results from a test match, I lost 5-0. No fouls, which was a shame. This was a 16 minute match. The latest beta does have more fouls.

Are you referring to the entry in Add/Remove Programs?? If so, then I don't see a size on that entry, just a Change/Remove button, and the sum total of the data placed onto the HD by the version I have (not sure which one, because there is no README or any indication during the install, but I DLed on 15th February - so probably v3) is less than 120K

Nik how come your GP patches don't have the level after World Class?
In what context do you think it is missing?? I don't use any of the gameplay 'patches' (since no one seems to be able to create a proper patching mechanism that just changes the required parameters rather than stomping over other stuff that I have no desire to see changed) but the files updated by NK's patches certainly contain changes to the Legendary difficulty settings.

One of the first things you'll notice when you play V5 is the pace of the game and how the passing and air-play has changed. The ball physics have basically been re-done.

Judging from what I have seenin regards to the various gameplays I think a roadblock that may never be solved by altering the files associated with gameplay is the pace of the game.

When it is altered downwards by making the players slower, iit plays really unrealistically, and when played normally has a tendencey at time to get ping-pongy. It has more to do with an individual users play style. With normal speeds I work it around and pass back a lot to the defence like a normal team would, trying to build up not just for a shot but a great chance at scoring. When I see other people play and they throw long passes and try to always run down the wings and cross, cross, thats when it gets a bit ping-pongy....not that it doesn't happen inreal life like that sometimes anyways.

I still think the normal speeds without a huge dribbling penalty are the best IMHO.

From the looks of things it will probably be out in a week or so. I'll keep you posted. 14th April perhaps but nothing has been confirmed as of yet.

It is challenging and fun. After playing 16 minute matches on World class (I'm not testing on Legendary yet) I manage no over 12-14 shots on goal and this is a 16 minute match. I am yet to score more than 3 goals, and if you do score 3 goals I can tell you it'll be rewarding and entertaining. The update has a certain 'feel' to it, which will hopefully bring out a more rewarding game.

Matches are far tighter than ever before.

Really looking forward to this nk, heres a few comments i have for your consideration.

In your previous patches, i've always found it almost impossible to score long goals, the computer can score them, but I never can. I've even tried practice mode and played the other team with only their goalie, and continually had shots from outside the box, but can never score. In football today, it isn't that rare to see long goals, so it shouldn't be that hard to score them.
Also free kicks should go in more often.

I think shooting is probably the main thing that needs to be improved, It is almost impossible to score, or even hit the target, from tight angles - even if you aren't that far out.

One other thing is that I think the defenders tend to run at you too much when you have the ball, in real football when you have the ball in your defensive half, or just inside your attacking half the defence will often just sit off you and try and affect an intercept (unless you are moving forward of course).

I think that if you really want this to be the definitive version you need to make the computer less skillful on lower difficulty levels.

I like what you said about results often being 1-0 or 0-0, but then occasionally 3-2 (and I'm hoping even higher scoring occasionally).
By the way, is it possible for you to make the halfs longer, then you could make the gameplay even more realistic, and in a game with 45 minute halfs you might only see 1 goal.

Sorry, I still don't understand what you mean. Are you saying that you can no longer select Legendary level after installing the gameplay update?? If so, then that is odd 'cos the unlock information should be in your profile and I don't see anything in the gameplay update that would clobber that value. Perhaps there is some strange interaction between the update and the game's profile handling, but I really don't see why that should be.

You'll be happy to know that scoring from outside the box is very much possible! You will score some great goals and they are rewarding to see fly in the back of the net!! Goalkeepers are far, far more tuned to be less perfect, yet still very affective. They can save some amazing shots at goal but the issue with long range user shots is well and truly gone and the overall feel of the ball is actually a 'free' feeling, or more so than before! You won't be scoring anything silly, but you might take a shot and the keeper will dive and get to it, but his save won't be 'complete' and the ball will hit his glove and bounce somewhere realistically leading to either a scramble in the box, a goal or some good defending! You'll know what I mean when you see it happen :)

Goalkeeper reactions aren't superhuman, so on the occasion they might react to the shot too late allowing you to shoot from quite far out and perhaps hit the post or sent one into the back of the net!! The goals that you and the CPU score are visa-vera, either one of you can do them.
