Lebron, Hughes, Ilgauskas.... that is a pretty damn good core to build a team around.... now if only they had a point guard.....

haha what a ******* idiot. he screwed himself by doing that, and has put himself in a black hole. he gave up a chance to be a perenial conteder year after year with seattle so he could suffer in a black hole like portland. they had a horrible draft, and have not adressed any of their issues. nice job there you retard, you deserve what you get. chase the money, because you can do a hell of a lot more with 6 million then with 3 you ******* deuche
i thoguht that the trailblazers deal was for about 27million, and sonics deal was only 18 million, so thats a good 9 million more. And I feel that Seattle cant get much farther than they did last year, Allen is getting older,he played well since it was a contract year, while they do have Petro and Swift, they will take more time to develop. i dont think that going to portland is that bad, but i feel it would have made more sense and been better for him to stay at seattle

Starting XI
I was watching something on TV I think it was Stephen A. Smith, saying the reason McMillan left was because he felt he was not respected in Seattle. He was there for 20+ years devoting his career to that franchise and they would not offer him more money or give him anymore power (GM, VP operations, etc).

Ariza is to damn small to be a superstar. The max he can get is becoming a fine 6-th man but other than that forget it. It's like Boykins no matter how much talent he has he is still a midget between giants. Big means a lot in the NBA.

He's 6'8'' and just turned 20 years old.... and he plays small forward. That's undersized????

I thought the Cavs needed a shooter, so Bron could kick it out to them and they could spot up and knock the three down consistently. I like Hughes, but I thought Simmons would have been better for them. Also LeBron can't play point guard, I mean he can, but a lot of his talent is wasted when he plays point. They should go after Damon Jones who can take the ball up the court and hit the three.

I didn't think the Bucks had the capspace to sign Redd to the max, plus Simmons and also resign one of Gadz and Zaza, but if we do, HELL YEAH!!! The Bucks with Simmons looks really good and if TJ Ford comes back healthy, DUDE!

a healthy TJ Ford will be crucial ...
but still simmons is a little overpaid for a 6th man (IMO I would start desmond mason instead of him at sf, but it's up to the coach... and he is cheaper than simmons)

hope simmons won't be another mark blount...one year wonder

btw is stotts a good coach? I only seem to remember his coaching in the terrible atlanta days

Bobby Simmons to the Bucks.... he's a solid player... but man the Bucks are throwing a lot of money at him.... IMO overpaid, but he's absolutely better than some that are overpaid to do nothing

the bucks are getting better ... wtg
there is a good article on him on the new ESPN magazine. He might be a bit overpaid, but he seems to be a good player who never complains, and plays the game right. The Bucks are looking good for next year.

cleveland are making moves..

"The Cleveland Cavaliers missed out on top free agents Ray Allen and Michael Redd, so their immediate plans now include courting Heat free agent Udonis Haslem. Sources indicate the Cavaliers are interested in setting up a meeting with Haslem to convince the third-year forward he can be part of the team's future, and they could be prepared to offer Haslem more than the five-year, $33 million deal the Heat can offer."
"According to two Eastern Conference executives, the Cavaliers are also in talks with Lithuanian point guard Sarunas Jasikevicius. The European standout is an excellent shooter, but a questionable defender that NBA teams have flirted with for years. Ilgauskas' best friend growing up, Jasikevicius, 29, reportedly turned down an offer from the Boston Celtics. The Indiana Pacers are believed to be offering him a backup role, but he'd like to start. The Cavaliers need a starting point guard and will still have salary-cap room even after a deal is done with Ilgauskas."

I don't think Simmons is another Blount, first of all he isn't lazy, Simmons has had to work his ass off his entire life, he even played in the NBDL. Regarding Mason, I think he actually is paid more than Simmons.... looks like he'll make roughly the same amount, about 700k less, but it gives the Bucks a lot of flexibility. First of all, Mason is overpaid in my opinion and secondly his contract is up soon. A good player like that with a contract that is relatively short is fantastic trade bait. The Bucks could move Mason and Joe Smith for expiring contracts next summer like an Antonio Davis perhaps and then have 13 million in cap space next summer. Or maybe they move Smith and Mason and a draft pick for Zach Randolph and Derek Anderson. I know the Blazers love Randolph, but it might be worth getting rid of Anderson to trade Big Zach. Whatever, I love speculating.

Also, the thing is that the Bucks won't be overpowered by many physical rebounding teams because they have guys like Shifty Gadzuric and Calvin Booth who have made their money solely because they are tough and rebound well. A rotation of those two and Bogut actually isn't that bad and is rather tough too, but we really need a power forward and probably a point guard if TJ doesn't come back like his old self.

Jasikevicius is a great, great shooter - Reggie Miller type -, but moving to the NBA at the age of 29? I don't know if that's smart for anybody... His buddy Sabonis did it when his best years were already behind him but I always felt he was out of place (and pace), at least comparing to his time in Real Madrid and Forum Valladolid.

The Cavs don't have much to trade for him, but PP is definitely on the trading block.

Infesta, the NBA NEEDS NEEDS NEEDS foreign players who can play well right now, desperately. The foreign backlash against guys like Tskitishvili and Darko is just insane (and really unwarrented) and every european is being equated to these guys. Every good foreigner in the NBA can help reduce the horrendous hatred of foreigners that this country's fans have developed.

Really? I had no idea it was that bad. What about the Dirks, the Paus, the Manus (South-American but played several years in Europe)? And how about the Pistons giving Darko a real chance? You know, quality minutes. He'd probably fail miserably, but at least we'd know for sure.

But I understand to some extent the backlash. In the early 90s Europe had amazing ballers who - I'm not even calling them underrated - weren't even considered in the NBA: Petrovic stands out. Then, in the early years of this century, the situation flipped completely thanks to guys like Dirk and Pau - and europeans were looked at differently. Of course the race for the next stand-out shooting 7 footer began, and obviously they don't come that easily. I'm sure many foreign draftees were brought in with this idea in mind and someone is feeling cheated. But don't blame the kids - they aren't responsible for the hype (or for sucking at playing hoops).

Shifty, I love the NBA, it's my fave bball competition by far, but I'd rather have our good guys playing in our backyard than in the US. Don't you feel the same about the MLS?
That's why  Bodiroga.
