This is the biggest crock of **** I've ever seen on these forums.

And Chicharito, while being better than anyone expected, and a very good player, was not a good investment for a "struggling" club, if that's what you claim to be. You had Danny Welbeck BEGGING for playing time, and more than good enough to get it, and then you spend your money on Chicharito? Hmmm.... Bebe is obvious senility by SAF getting completely swindled by an agent. Young was superfluous (Nani and Valencia), and horribly expensive. If you got him for 8m and moderate wages, then he's a fine purchase, but what's the point at that price when you have Nani and Valencia?

Bebe + Young + Chicharito = £30.14m = ~€38m

Samir Nasri = €25m
Arturo Vidal = €10.5m
Nuri Sahin = €10m
Mesut Ozil = €15m
Rafael van der Vaart €9m
Milos Krasic = €15m

Put that a la carte together however you want. My favorite is Krasic, Ozil, and Vidal for 40.5. The cruelest would be Nasri, Vidal, and Kagawa (from Japan). Hell, Nasri + Ozil would give you a top class playmaker and winger, and the transfer fees would have effectively been the same as Bebe+Young+Chicharito.

Don't talk rubbish. Nani off form, Valencia injured, young was defiantly needed. English players are always inflated as there a dime a dozen.

Welbeck instead of Chicharito!? are you on smack. Welbeck is good but is currently Mr no end product.

Nasri... seriously? wake up. Ozil was probably the only serious name you put out and we were never going to get him.

Way to avoid the point. Hernandez is better than Welbeck. But the biggest problem was always the midfield, but instead you bought a backup striker and an expensive winger, a position where you're pretty stacked. You can blame the glazers all you want, but the money was spent poorly on SAF's part.

And the list isn't necessarily to say who you could've bought instead, but to counter the argument that you need 40M to get a good midfielder, which is in no way true.

Don't be a Div all your life. Your stating what we have been saying for years. The midfield's our weakest position. Its such a shame Hargreaves never worked out... he would of been a different story.

SAF stated the players he did want were out of reach. He's not one to panic buy and believed the Midfield could cope. Considering the points we got this season the midfield did cope but obviously not good enough and blatantly our weakest area. For a team full of youngsters they have done amazingly well.

I hope the midfield issue will be fixed, this Transfer.

Of the City starting XI that beat United 1-0 at the Etihad last week, nine were in the core 24-29 age group, where players are presumed to be at their best.

United had just two in that age bracket — Wayne Rooney and Nani.

I thought that was an interesting quote. At the start of the season we were all saying this was going to be a transition year, perhaps another couple of years to add to that, but the fact is this tansition team managed to go equal points with City (could still win). Quite the achievement and not bad for a team whos wages are considerable out of the top 10 biggest spenders in the world. Goes to show you how good SAF is, real team management there. http://www.soccergaming.com/forums/showthread.php?t=173626

Ozil the only serious name from that list? The others aren't good enough for you? Wow. For a team that had to bring back Scholes from retirement, you guys sure are picky.

You missed the point. By saying we need at least 40 millions to buy a top class midfielder, he was taking into account the transfer fee AND the wages. You failed to consider the wages in your comparison above.

The wage for Nasri for example would be around 10 millions pounds per year, which would amount to 50 millions for 5 years.

Bebe + Young + CHicharito's salaries combined equals 210k, close to Nasri's salary of 175k weekly. Both Young and Chicharito had a great positive impact on United. How many winners did Chicharito score last season? This season he wasn't that sharp because he was injured for more than half the season.

I agree that the Young money could've spent on a central midfielder but he turned out to be an important buy esp when Valencia got injured or when Nani's form dropped. I think he's worth the 18 millions but he should have been much less than that because he had only 1 year left in his Villa contract.

Help?

We went for Nasri and Ozil but they wanted to join other clubs and we decided that we wanted VdVaart too late. The rest, apart from Vidal, I don't hear them tearing up all that much. You want us to spend 10-15 mil on guys unproven at the top level who could end up being like Carrick. So who else you got?

We need VdV, Sneijder, Modric type, not guys that are 50/50 to get there, might as well stick with Cleverly and Pogba.

Hernandez was averaging a goal every 90 minutes last season. This season he missed half the season, but still managed to get 12 goals. And don't forget he hasn't had a break in three years! Tell me a player who hasn't had a break in three years and is still killing it. You can have your opinion of coarse, but in my opinion, Hernandez is a steal that is as good as it gets.

At the end of the day you guys are still missing the whole point. I'm not complaining about City outspending us or players wanting to go to City/Real over us. I'm pissed off that Glazers are turning United into a midtable team and that some of you actually think they have been good owners.

Shifty's gonna keep defending the Glazers because he's American. I'm gonna keep goading you because I'm a City fan. Just deal with it (H)

It's really nothing personal against any persons, just a grudge against a club I've held for 13 years. I'm going to flame bait this thread as long as it exists.

BTW, the only other midfielder that I mentioned (who was referred to as "all the other guys"), is Nuri Sahin who was injured all year. He was Bundesliga Player of the Year in 2011, okay. He's ******* good.

What grudge? You beat us in 2001 and won the UCL. You beat us again 2 years ago and went in the UCL final. :nape:

Get over it. The team that beat you in 1999 is not even the same anymore. The only people left are Ferguson, Giggs and Scholes.

Yes, but luckily you (not YOU) have remained insufferable douches and the biggest glory hunter club in America, so my hatred has persisted.

lol your missing the point. Nasri, 3 years at Arsenal would never have come to arch enemies Manchester United you pleb. I don't think any player has inter transferred from the Big teams in the Prem, other then crocked stars.

And as a mentioned Ozil wasn't really a serious name either because he would never have come to us.

Anderson not fulfilling any of his potential also hurt.

So true, at the start of the season he looked really good with cleverly when we thrashed arsenal. Hes always hot and cold, maybe time to get rid of him.

What kind of mess is this? The dude was at Werder Bremen, and he didn't sign with Madrid until late August. He actually played a first round German Cup game with Bremen that year. If you wanted Ozil before the World Cup, you would have had him. You're making him seem like he was Leo Messi at that point.

Not to mention...

Messi, Ronaldo, van Persie, and just about everyone in world football. Most of them who didn't have the luxury of playing in the Mexican league for 1 of those 3 seasons and coming off the bench in the other 2.

He was injured for most of this season. Considering the terrible state of our midfield these days, why would you want to get rid of him? He's one of the better players for sure.

Mexican league, World cup 2010, EPL 2011, confederations cup 2011, EPL 2012. Not much resting time considering his developmental stage. This season he seemed completely rusted coupled with the injuries he had.
