Yeah. I don't know if I will ever go to a white tie event though.

I plan on wearing mine if I ever go to a true black tie/formal event. When people say formal these days, generally a suit will even do, so if they actually want proper formal, instead of tux, I'll go tails.

Well okay, this is going to be a hella maricon post, but

I'm thinking of buying these

Which retail for $335...

for ~$140

This is basically my entire entertainment budget for the next two weeks. I will get to do nothing except work, eat, and come home and admire my new shoes. But I've been eying these exact shoes since about the new year and just noticed them on ebay in mint condition. What do you think?

My take on these situations is, if say 6 months down the road if i think back and i would regret not purchasing it than get it i will.

Now that we're past labor day I'm starting to think about things like sweaters and tweed. Harris tweed Carlos*ets seem to be plentiful and inexpensive on ebay, just a matter of sorting through them all to find the right one for you. I might have a look at the local thrift store as well.

Also you can get a great break on cashmere on ebay if you include scotland as a search term. I know I've been told that you can basically use "made in scotland" as a stand in for "good quality", and they have older and not as well known brands so you aren't spending a year's pay on something from Italy.

I got some Levi's raw selvedge jeans. The fit is ridiculous (I sat in the tub with them on and then let them dry while wearing them :(), but they are sooooo stiff!

Oh yeah, they're St. Paddy's pants. I wouldn't wear them any other day... who am I kidding, I wouldn't do laundry and trot them out on a random Wednesday in November (H)

Spending a lot money on a pair shades good or bad idea?

Try to get a deal, but I think there's something to be said for a good pair. I wouldn't go over ~125 though; you can get a nice pair of Raybans or some persols on ebay. Stepping up to $300 pradas isn't advisable (I did this and lost them).

If you're careful and take care of your things then it's a good investment. If you're not, stick to knock offs. I've learned the hard way.

^^Ditto! I don't spend more than $10 on shades! I break 3 to 4 shades each year! Now, I only buy the ones with metal frame so they don't break easily.
