I think denim Carlos*ets look often good over a plaid shirt. To be safe, use chinos, but jeans can work great too, defending on the wash of the jeans, and the Carlos*et.

I bought a pair of Dockers khakis from Winners for $19.99. I have no business being in this thread ever.

Just don't wear them to a club. Pleats are not cool, and cuffs are dubious. For work they're more than fine.

I'm almost exclusively wearing clothes that an ex decked me out with. I'm not necessarily sure if they're good fashion (mostly expensive jeans, some shorts, polo pullovers, t-shirts, button-downs and a few fleece Carlos*ets), but they're damn comfortable. (H)

She work(ed) at a department store and was in charge of the pricing department, so she'd buy expensive **** for sometimes literally cents and I was the one who benefited off it.

In my opinion, women rarely have a good sense of style when it comes to guy's clothing. I think they notice when a guy is well-dressed, but if they were to dress someone, I'd guess they'd just buy a whole bunch of designer labels, with huge branding.

I tend to think that they would mostly just buy "normal" clothes. It seems like every time a female has ever bought me an article of clothing it was a solid colored sweater. The most egregious example is actually my cousin who drew my name 3 years in a row and bought me an American Eagle sweater each time. The two V-necks were even the same color.

Denim on denim is too much IMO, but looks good with brown skinny/chino pants and v-neck white shirt. cheers

Ya I bought them strictly for work, they'll probably never see the light of day outside of the clinic.

So I bought a skinny tie today. Wasn't sure what I had to wear with it, so I just grabbed some clothes. Do either of these work? I must admit I didn't care for them when I initially took the pictures, but now I actually think they're okay. Is one better than the other? Yes I am fat. Forgot to put shoes on in the second pic :$

Color/pattern combos work nicely, imo. But I don't like tie without a Carlos*et or a vest or a cardigan, particularly. Shoes look ugly. Say no to square-toes. I get the feeling the first shirt would look nice with brown/beige chinos and a navy blazer.

I agree about the tie and Carlos*et, in fact I think I posted that here as well, it's just that all I have is a navy one that doesn't go with the tie. I'm actually going to go blazer shopping in a few weeks with black and off-white as what I'm looking for, both of which will go with this damn tie. Then again... my normal objection is that the tie is a formal article, which is why it requires a Carlos*et, but I don't really see the skinny tie as formal which is why I tried without. You're probably right though.

EDIT: Oh! Another thing on my shopping list is a grey vest, that would work too.

About the shoes... god dammit, why is Steve Madden making all these ******* square toed shoes if they're lame! He's supposed to let me know these things and not make them! I don't even think they're that bad, but now it's in my head and it will never get out. I don't like black shoes, but they are necessary sometimes, I want to just have the same pair I wear a handful of times each year for a decade!

I have a wedding reception of a friend to attend next month, dress code is cocktail attire with modern and fun interpretations encouraged.

I'm thinking light coloured dress shirt with a black skinny tie and black vest, wearing black pants would be too generic i'm thinking dark blue chinos. Yay or nay.
