Don't have to wear formal at work so, those would look fine with jeans at work or when i'm out and about.

Anyone have suggestions on what to wear with something like this? I would probably wear a button down underneath the sweater. Looking for casual, to go with jeans and to wear out to a bar. Boat shoes? Loafers? What kind?

I'm not a Harvard Asian BTW.

Awesome. I think I own 5 cardigans. Couple really thing, simple ones, and a couple heavier, chunkier nits. Very versatile, atleast some cardigans, let's say like black or gray, thin simple cardigan - you can wear over a t-shirt, a casual button down, or even shirt and tie.

Yeah, I think I need more dress casual stuff. Here's a cardigan I like, although I'm not sure which color I like the most... I guess the black/grey because I'd look like a Smurf if I wore the blue with jeans.

I also think a Henley would look nice under both as a very slightly dressier option than a v-neck t-shirt, but not by much.

I also really like this rugby style crewneck which I think I'd only wear an undershirt underneath

All of these are from Psycho Bunny because I like the company, but also because I recently ran an Amazon search for their company and these popped straight up.

Also think I'm on the verge of grabbing some classic ass Clarks Desert Boots. Going to go down the my "Town Center" on Sunday and bounce between Banana Republic and J.Crew and other places to find the best deal, and of course if they can beat the internet.

Clarks are nice. Considered getting a pair a long time myself. They're just so expensive in Finland, compared to the States. Like 130€, when you can get them for half the price there. Good basic shoes, for casual everyday use, that still look nice.

Cardigans look decent, and your thinking on picking the color is good. If you mostly wear blue jeans, you probably don't want to buy too many blue sweaters. These thinner cardigans look especially good on a bit more muscular guys. I've heard, that if you're skinny (like me) chunkier cardigans look better usually.

Yeah, that's my thought on the cardigans too. I'm naturally very broad shouldered, maybe not as muscular as I could be :$, not Stewartesque, but definitely naturally bigger. Skinnier arms, but a wide torso I guess you could say.

And I'm vaguely embarrassed about this, but looks like a few brands are trying to really dump their 2011 summer collections right now, so I'm thinking about some striped seersucker shorts. Although I have to remind myself that stuff like that is where its acceptable to cut back because in shorts the difference between a $500 pair and a $15 is basically nothing.

Yikes the stuff on the Psycho Bunny site looks pretty pricey.

Revolveclothing.com has a pretty nice selection as well. If i remember correctly if you're a first time customer after you made your purchase email them and tell them you're a first time customer and they reimburse you 30% of the amount of your purchase. Bought myself a nice Nixon watch from there at a way cheaper price than its going for where i am.

Alright, continuing my interrogation of Jakko...

I've started to think about summer the last couple of days, and want to get your opinion on a few things:

1) Shoes. As far as I'm concerned, only 3 pairs are needed during the summer (obviously aside from athletic shoes for sports) and they are the casual penny loafer, the boat shoe, and the flip flop. Dark brown, (not light) blue, and whatever; dressier, casual, and daytime loafing respectively. How say you?

2) Pants. Shorts are pretty easy IMO as they basically should be a light color and go with either a t-shirt or short sleeve button down (which I actually have never owned, but it's fine for others). No need to really get into those. What do you think about chinos, specifically different colors of them. I like to have some interesting items, but also don't think I'm as comfortable dressing as flashy as you do sometimes, so do you have any recommendations? I'm thinking just like navy, olive, and something else. Thoughts?

3) Shirts. T-shirts are easy and acceptable in most places during the day in the summer, and easily paired with flip-flops and shorts, so no biggie. But for the night what kind of patterns or colors would you recommend, particularly with the colored chinos? The rule is to stay simple if your pants are more flashy than usual, so just blue and white I guess, but any other thoughts? Gingham I suppose is an easy pattern answer.

4) I'm almost 100% going to buy a white sportcoat/blazer/Carlos*et/whatever, and it will also 100% be some sort of off white like eggshell or cream. But what would you wear it with? It is extremely easy for me to just put it on with some nice jeans and a darker shirt, but do you have any thoughts on pairing it with an interesting color pant? I would personally feel strange pairing it with something really bright, which is kind of why I suggested olive and navy in point 2.

Anyone else can jump in if you have an opinion.

1) Obviously it's better to have a larger collection, but those will do you nicely. I assume you have some dressier shoes, that aren't necessarily for summer, which you can use if needed. And as with everything, depends on your style what shoes to wear. But tough to go wrong with those. Obviously you can add some low profile sneakers, like Vans, or some hi-tops, to wear on chillier days with jeans and Carlos*et.

2) Shorts are obviously a must. Concentrate on light colors (as you said) with a good fit (rolled cuffs look better on shorter people, causing the illusion of length, straight cuffs work better for taller guys). Wear with t-shirts, henleys, polos, button-downs (doesn't have to be short sleeved, can look great with long sleeves too, and if it gets too hot, you can always roll up the sleeves). For some guys, even a wifebeater can look good. Not talking about your typical, tight, white undershirt, but something a bit more loose, flowy, and a bit of colours. Aztec prints and such work well here. Chinos are a must, too, imo. I myself have a beige pair, a grey pair and a red pair. Wearing something like red is a bit more of a statement, and it's harder to pull off. Same thing with bright white, yellow, etc. To keep it safe, navy, beige, brown, grey and military green/olive are good choices. Can be dressed up with a Carlos*et and nicer shoes, or more casually with your everyday shoes and a simple shirt.

3) For shirts, I like patterns. Even just a little bit. When your wearing a totally solid button-down, without a blazer, it can look a bit boring. Stripes, herringbone, gingham, plaid... Makes the look more interesting. I suggest you get a couple (assuming you don't already have) nicer t-shirts from the usual. Better material, better flow, etc. When dressing for summer, often it gets a bit boring with some neutral colored shorts, t-shirt and flip-flops. Pastel colors are kinda nice. And yes, when wearing flashier pants, it's safe to stick to the basics with the rest. Obviously it can be done - going all flashy - but it's tough to pull off, and when done wrong, can look pretty bad and try-hard. Nothing wrong with sticking to classic color palettes.

4) I like the idea of a white blazer. Goes well in the summer, especially if it's unstructured, and doesn't look like a stiff suit Carlos*et. With white, pretty much anything goes. When it's used as a blazer though, it may restrain the use of other colors a bit. Olive chinos with a neutral shirt and white blazer should look good. You could also maybe rock some small floral pattern on your shirt. You can even wear the Carlos*et with shorts, if you feel like it.
