but the real question is : why do players dive - is it because they want to show the confronting player that u may be more talented , but he is much smarter to win free kicks or penalties, or is it just something that he can do amazingly consistently throughout the game? (6)

One blatant dive in what 400+ career appearances?

Diving to a certain extent is part of the game and almost every player will use it to their advantage at some point in their career, there's no doubting that. It's still not acceptable even that once, but everyone does it.

It's the PERSISTENT diving and playacting that really bugs me and most people.

exactly. How you can even compare a player who always stood up and was counted for, with players who constantly tumble AND clutch their legs for 5 minutes is ridiculous.

apart from players , the ones who curse the "divers " the most are the medical staff, especially the staff persons responsible for bringing the stretcher on the pitch ........its like this - the player goes down amazingly in a theatrical fashion with all the expressions of pain on his face, ref gets sympathetic and calls on medic , and then there are these stretcher guys who run to the player only to find that he doesnt need one!! , he walks gingerly out on the sidelines , and couple of seconds later ... he is running as if nothing happened. it has happened so many times , but yet people hate it but cant do anything abt it....

any ways, anyone of u seen lampard or gerrard taking fake dive?

Yes I've often thought that I'd love to be a "stretcher guy".
After running on two or three times for nothing I'd tell the guy: "Right, this is last time we come out for you, you soft twat. Next time even if your leg drops off, you can forget it, you're hopping to the hospital."

and now the petr cech issuse has come up , how many of u think the injury to cech was an accident or an intentional one, i think it was intentional , coz the player could have just stopped his run , reading knows they r playing against chelsea and when cech came to the ball , the reading player thrusted his knee into his face, the replays show that clearly, however many think that both of them have every right to go for the ball and it was an accident , na na , i think it could have been avoided , i mean the match had just started where is the need for a team like reading to play that rough with someone like chelsea?
