Portugese players are overrated, Figo suck.. Rui Costa suck... Pauleta suck.. It looks that sudently everyone hates Portugal...

And Greece is a great team...

You guys just suck!!!!

It's very easy to talk after the game.... And it's very easy to criticise everybody after a lose...

Yes... And Portugal had 18. So, obviously, Greece didn't have more chances than us. Like Grunger 0x said "if Portugal scored half their chances the outcome would be different". HOWEVER, like I said before (many times already), Greece deserved to win. But let's not mix things here.

hey, it's ok. there's always gonna be bandwagon jumpers... a couple FC Porto fans act like Carlos-asses and all of a sudden ALL Portuguese fans are this and that

it's funny too because half the people here now saying "go Greece! " are the very same that were predicting Portugal to easily win this game...

i would have rather had portugal win against greece.. that way if spain beats greece in the 2nd match.. they would already be in quarters.. now.. a win in the 2nd only matters if portugal doesnt win

I think Portugal choked under pressure, I kinda feel bad for u guys, especially Cristiano, poor kid in his first big game for the NT and what a miserable start he had.

But you gotta admit that the Greeks played much more aggressively, always first to the ball, they have a better keeper and their #5 (Dellas I think) was simply amazing, stopping everything.

I think Rui Costa and Fernando Couto are starting for the same reason Raul is starting with Spain. Now, I only have to find what reason is that.

Couto is in much worst shape than Raul.. I mean.. he didnt even get in front of the first goal.. if you look at the pic on this thread.. it seems he is saying hi to the people on the stands..

yeah, Couto coud have done much more...i have no doubt that if it was Ricardo Carvalho he would throw himself in front of the ball to stop the shot

No man I didn't mean to put portugal down. They do have great stars, but I also remembered the world cup 2002, thats why I said they were a lil overated. Hopefully Portugal will advance.

Disappointed at the result. Portugal just never got going until it was too late. They must've had tons of posession but just didn't do anything with it.

Unfortunately there seems to be a lot of Portuguese players living on their reputation. Rui Costa is a shadow of the player that I once thought was better than Figo; and Couto was abysmal at the heart of the defense. In fact Portugal were very poor in defense.

Ronaldo came on along with Deco and they both made more of an impact that the players they replaced. Deco actually got on the ball unlike Rui Costa and Ronaldo caused the Greeks problems. Although Ronaldo did give away the penalty with a clumsy challenge I felt that he had little choice than to try and do something as the defense were doing a good job of running away from the attacker.

Ronaldo also delivered some very dangerous crossed along with some poor ones. It was attacking play that let his crosses down. I felt that he gave at least 3 perfect crosses to the far post where he had every right to expect at least 1 player to be stood, but everyone went near post. There was one occasion where there were 3 players around the 6yrd box all at the near post. Unbelievable. Then he showed them how to do it by getting a goal himself.

Hopefully Portugal can put on a better show in the next 2 games.

Dive Claim

Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo has insisted that Greece's Giourkas Seitaridis dived for a penalty that helped his side to a 2-1 win - with the young winger insisting he made no contact.

Seitaridis appeared to be bundled over by substitute Ronaldo early in the second half - and Angelos Basinas duly converted from the spot to give the Greeks a two-goal cushion.

However, Manchester United winger Ronaldo claims that no contact was made - and that Seitaridis conned experienced referee Pierluigi Collina.

"I swear I didn't touch him for the penalty," said Ronaldo - who converted a late header to give his side some consolation.

"The player ran past me, I tried to get out of the way and he decided to dive.

"I never made any kind of contact with him. I just hope the Portugal supporters don't give up on us after this bad result.

"We know we have failed them but they need to show us real support in our next two games to keep us going and give us a chance to qualify.

"I hope we can make up for it in our next game against Russia."

it was paulo ferreira who did gave the ball to karagounis and then just stood still and watched him shot to the goal. wednesday there's some more action.
