Well it seems Rosario Central and Estudiantes still got some chances.:o

Got to see if Newell's doesn't screw up tomorrow and if Vélez wins again over Rocha.

Well Estudiantes finally made it, i knew Rosario Central wasn't going to do it. Of the other argentinian teams, well Vélez already made it, but i don't know if Newell's and River will make it.
Great victory of Vélez over Rocha in Uruguay.
Seriously is that the uruguayan champion?:nape:

It means play beautiful in portuguese.I guess its a promotion to stop the dirtiness, dives, time wasting and any other thing that takes the beauty away from the sport.

One more week before eveything is set for the best 16 round.

As to who has the best chance, I'd say that anyone within the top 10 could take it, yet as it is with the libertadores, there could always be a surprise with one of the other teams.

That's really the great thing about this tournament. (Y)

yes Rocha is (embarasingly) the uruguayan Champion + Also the final sign of the incoming apocalipse (since they won the Apertura last year....somehow <and without even playing well in URUGUAY too <they were inferior to every team but won out of pure balls and luck> :nape: :(

Velez is awesome and Im glad Estudiantes made it. Hopefully Nacional will join you guys in the next round by atleast getting a draw in Mexico.

The only reason Rocha's in the Libertadores is because Nacional was penalized by AUF and lost three points in the Apertura. I never understood exactly why we were penalized but if we hadn't, Defensor and Peñarol would have played instead. Not sure if either would have done much better than Rocha, particularly with Peñarol's current form, but I doubt they'd be losing their home games by 5-0...

Pumas 1- Nacional 1

YES WE DID IT!!!!! Nacional and Inter qualify. (First time a Uruguayan team passes the group stage since 2003, I never thought we'd fall so much)

But 2nd stage baby. :rockman: :rockman:

I heard Tevez played very well in the victory of Corinthians against Nacional!!

3-0 was the final score...

Starting XI
Tevez was huge last night, but it was against Deportivo Cali....

He was tackling in the defense, getting to balls that were apparently lost, but then again, this is usual for him... he had to be subbed off late in the match though, as the colombian side have been fouling him the whole match...

Just to have an idea how tough the match was, a Cali player tackled Carlos Alberto, but he managed to avoid contact... the sliding tackle then hit another Cali player who had to be subbed off! the guy managed to injure his own team mate...

Tévez did good but the whole team played pretty fine. I wonder if actually Tévez grew up some inches on his goal.:funny: Tévez's goal was good looking.

Congrats to Newell's with too much effort they are in the round of 16, unlike their rival's Rosario Central who so far seems to be the only argentinian team that couldn't make it, now got to see River tonight if they can win over Libertad, it should a tough match. But i guess River will make it, it would be a bit shameful that a second division team makes it to the round of 16 and not River.:jambo:

So, so far to the round of 16 we have from Group 2: Independiente Bogota and Estudiantes LP. From Group 3: Goias EC and Newell's Old Boys. From Group 4: Corinthians and Tigres UANL. From Group 5: Vélez Sarsfield and LDU Quito. From Group 6: Internacional and Nacional. And from Group 7: Atlético Nacional and Palmeiras. Then Group 1(which is definied already although 1 matchday left) already qualified Chivas and São Paulo and Group 8 gets definied tonight.

Unless we bring in some players for the Libertadores, we're going to be massacred in the next round. Losing half of the starting XI has basically ruined any thought of a serious push for the title.

I can't wait to see the reception Tevez will get when he comes to El Monumental next Wednesday. I predict it will be at least 10x worse than what Barihjo (of Banfield) got in the Clausura. :rockman:

I feel horrible about seeing Masche play against River, it's really sad. He's a legend in my books and it will hurt to see him wearing the Corinthians jersey in el monumental. I hope he plays well, but we manage to win.

I'm really happy River is home for the first leg, we play far better at home than we do as visitors (we only beat Tiro Federal and Oriente Petrolero). If we played first in Brasil, i'm afraid we'd get receive a beating and wouldn't be able to recover. Hopefully we play well and can build up a good lead going to Sao Paulo, but it's going to be difficult.

Is the transfer window open for the Copa again?? or is it for the next round??

Injuries permitting, the line-up should be very similar:

-------------------Lux------------------
---Ferrari---Caceres---Gerlo---Mareque--
---Santana-----Ahumada------Zapata---
----------------Gallardo-----------------
--------Rolfi--------Farias---------------

Ok, we are finally in the second round...!!! :rockman:

We didnt played great, but we were the only team in the pitch trying to play, Libertad defended with 8 men, near their goalkeep. But after 80 minutes of going going and going, the goal appear, it was a great GOAL..!!! Cross of Ferrari, Farias with a header to Zapata, and Zapata before it hit the ground, BOOM!!! GOAL...!!!

Ahumada, Zapata and a little of Montenegro was enogh to win.

ES PARA BOCA QUE LO MIRA POR TV...!!! hahahaha...i had to say it...

Now we have to face Corinthians, ok. Thank god we dont have to face Sao Paulo or Chivas.

It would be sad to see Mascherano play against River... :kader: But hey, we get a chance to see Carlitos crying...hehehe...

Last year was 0-0 in Sao Paulo, and 1-1 in Buenos Aires. We can do it...!!!

I have faith, but of course we have to improve a lot...!!!

Wow, that's going to be a great games.

Btw, we're facing Inter again in the next round :( :nape: .

1st game - 0-3..........2nd game 0-0 (with Inter dominating the game in Montevideo).

But oh well, now its different and I guess we'll have to relly out "huevo" and balls out/take no prisoners style that the Brazilians wet their pants with. 1/2 of that Inter team isnt going to the quarter finals thats for damn sure :rockman: :p

Corinthians should have two new players, if they're allowed to play this round that is...

Sao Caetano's keeper Silvio Luiz (better than Herrera, better than Marcelo) and defender Rodrigo, ex-Dinamo Kiev (though it's a bit dodgy, since the documents are a bit messy).

Corinthians have a team good enough to go through, though I'm a bit worried about their nerves... Mascherano and Tevez will be fine, but the rest hardly have experience in a knockout round for the Libertadores...
