Today the first round of Eliminations has begun.
This is to define the final teams that will qualify to the Groups Stage.

I didn't see the first game, but the second game is on right now, in FSE if you want to see it.

2 Nacional (Paraguay)
2 Universitario (Peru)
Was played in Paraguay.

HT
2 Chivas (Mexico 3)
0 Colo Colo (Chile)
Being played in Chile.

I'm watching this one right now.
Chivas are doing a fantastic work defensively against a Colo Colo that came all guns blazing right from the beginning.
But that has been in part their downfall, they have been playing too closo to edge, just leaving three defenders against one of the best counter-attacking teams in Mexico. Chivas loves to play their attacking football, even as visitors, and so far it has payed off, Omar Bravo got the first one as he catched a lob on a defenders back, and the other one came from a penalty as a result of another counter in the last minutes of the first half.

I really see no way for Colo Colo to come back.
Its gonna get even more difficult in Mexico, they need to atleast score one in the second half.

Colo-Colo is what Chivas is in Mexico (most popular club) Ain't I right?

Wow, they're getting raped at home...can't imagine what the aggregate will end up being. 6 - 1 ?

Fantastic goal by Matias Fernades.

But Omar Bravo just killed the Colo Colo defense again in a counter-attack.
Great goal with the exterior of the foot.

3 Chivas
1 Colo Colo

This is turning out to be a great game!

any MLS teams participating this year?

In Libertadores?
You're kidding right.

They couldn't get past their first game in Sudamericana, where the worst team of Mexico in 2005 made it to the final.
I have nothing against the MLS, I'm being realistic, they would just get killed in Libertadores.

Final
3 Chivas
1 Colo Colo

I gotta say, I have alot of respect for teams that play with the kind of passion showed by Colo Colo today. Some of their players literally left it all on the field. (Y)
Oswaldo Sanchez had a terrific game, as well as our whole defence.
I think I can safetly say we're on throught to the group stage, there's just no way Chivas will loose by three goals in Guadalajara.

I did notice, Santana is just not in form, neither does he have the quality to be a starter in Chivas right now. We really missed the playmaking of Bofo Bautista today, it could had been a goalfest with him on.
Let's hope he gets better soon.

Chivas is in the Copa Libertadores with their away victory but lets see how far they get with all the National team players they will be missing through out the tournament because of them beign called up to the Mexican National Team....

Santana is just very inconsistent, like Bofo who could like brilliant at one point and then like crap the next. I didn't get to see the game today but what position was he playing, as a striker or was he playing in Bofo's position? Anyway, its good to know that our defence held up, that was one spot that was definitely a concern in the Interliga and was only reinforced with the showing against Jaguares this past weekend.

Yeah, he played Bofo's position.
Couldn't even put down a single pass, he seems to have like square feet (hehe), made alot of mistakes in passing, missed a couple of clear goals alone against the keeper.
Towards the end he got better, but only because the Colo Colo defenders couldn't keep up anymore.

I just want to see Magallon play in that position some time soon.
The kid has the best ball control in the entire Chivas team, I believe.

Got to bring some sense into Colo Colo, i mean what the **** are they thinking, they could have won by a good difference and suddenly everything goes down. :boohoo:
They don't deserve to qualify, i doubt they would qualify now anyway.

Chivas would get in the grioup of São Paulo FC, Caracas FC and Cienciano, it seems like anything could happen there.

In Mexico. Just like theyve always been. They were irregular in Mexico last year and look how good they playe dthe Libertadores.

Too true, we were pretty bad in the league last year but we did a hell of a job in the Libertadores until Lavolpe took the core of the team during the semifinals because of the Confederations Cup. :kader:

Anyway, I don't see what the point is of putting Santana in Bofo's spot when it clearly doesn't work. Santana is a target man like Borgetti, he doesn't have the technical ability to play the position.

Final
2 Palmeiras (Brazil)
0 Deportivo Táchira (Venezuela)
Played in Brazil.

Deportivo Tachira could had taken atleast one goal from Brazil, but they instead decided to defend the 2 - 0 result at the end. That was a really bad decision, Palmeiras only needs one goal in Venezuela and they're throught.
