He is. Had Barca got him when they wanted, oen of Iniesta or Xavi would be on the bench and Lamps'd be getting the praise he deserves. One of the best passers in the game. And when you consider that he gets fewer chances than Xavi or Iniesta to make those passes in a match (because of the different passing mentalities), and the fact that he still manages a few every match, it's astonishing that hasn't gotten more international recognition.

Best Premiership player of the decade, btw.

Well, we've got Birmingham coming up later. Lets hope for our sake, Joe Hart has an off day and commits a howler or two. He's been super solid for City, add their solid midfield and defense, we've got ourselves a tough match. For some reason we've always had problems against City, but I reckon at the Bridge, we've got enough in us to put them away.

Having said that, game comes too soon for Drogba and Kalou, so it'll likely be Anelka up front supported by Joey Cole and Malouda. Carvalho should come in for Alex, although either one is fine by me. Lamps is fit to play but we lose Bella for a few weeks. Bad news about Essien, but hopefully we won't miss him too much. :)

Deco should continue in the holding position. He should toughen up his play tonight, since Birmingham's midfield are frequent pressers when they don't have the ball and will be looking to unsettle Deco in midfield.
C'mon u Blues!! :D

I agree about Ivanovic, he's really proved himself as an automatic starter this season. I always thought he would have problems at right-back particularly after being outplayed by Nani in the Charity Shield, but he improved when given the chance.

But I have to say, Bosingwa absence can be evident at times, although Iva can be deceptively quick for his stature, Bosingwa can bring us something extra in the final third with the ability to beat players as well as his crossing ability.
Iva is the more balanced full-back, but Bosingwa will trouble more opposition defenses(despite not being as good defensively) than Iva.

3-0, 2 from Lamps 1 from Malouda. J.Cole, Ballack and Malouda with the assists. Couldn't watch the whole thing, in fatc, I only saw the last goal, and the 2nd one on replays. But it was a good performance, I saw a lot of moments of brilliance from a lot of players. Ashley Cole had two dribbles which were simply amazing.

Excellent game for Lamps, even without the goals, but I'm glad to see him scoring. I think it's about 10 league goals? 9 league goals? Excellent. I was more worried about this match than Pool, and I'm glad the boys delivered. Great performance from petty much everyone, and I liked Deco today. Not a strong holding-mid, but he can get in there when needed and offers more class. Could be a good option against teams where we know we're going to dominate and need to break them down.

Does J.Cole wear glasses btw? Seems to get something in his eye at some point and I got the impression he wears contacts.

I lost count of how many times A.Cole did the Cruyff turn.

Its like a trademark for him now.

He even does it while defending, but effectively.

I think this system, 4-3-3, suits Lampard more. He scored 4 goals in the last two matches.

Cole and Malouda play magnificent as well.

He's done it under Hiddink, but I don't think he likes it, although he's become much more mobile under Carlo, so he could play as a faux-winger and drift in and out. Hiddink also gave Drogba a go on the wing, I think it would be interesting to see. Hoestly, no matter which formation we play someone great will have to benched, I don't really care.

That ties in to something I think I commented on before, but has become much more apparent recently, and that is hat out of the 3 contenders, we are the only real team. ManU are Rooney +10, and Arsenal is Fabregas +10. Sure, every game 1 or 2 players play well, but they're still the focus. Who's our engine? Can't be Essien, we've done well withou him, same goes for Drogba. You could make a case for Lampard, but a lot of people were saying he's underperformed this season. That's why we should win the title, and I'll be furious if we don't.

I hate these staff
Last year, we were Ronaldo+10
at the start of this season, we were Giggs+10
and now, we are Rooney+10

sell Lampard or Drogba, then we will see what position you will end up (few matches doesn't count)

We like to hold onto our best players. Most ManU fans have agreed that the team is too dependant on Rooney, there's no point denying it.

Terry has been hit with more controversy, apparently he had an affair with Wayne Bridge's ex-girlfriend. No man is perfect and I really don't care about his private life so long as he remains a professional on the field. We all know that he's done some bad stuff (the 9/11 incident being a big one), but he's grown and matured, and I just hope this doesn-t prove to be a distraction.

He plays an important role but it's not Rooney+10. We can still manage our matches without him, but again he plays an essential role, he's our best player.

That Terry news is everywhere right now.

Anelka drifts out of his position when play 4-4-2 too. And like Az said, he can play wing position drifting in and out into the box but we all know he doesnt like playing there and likes being the central striker. Obviously he can play with Drogba. LPS words come back to bite him in the ass.

The Terry news has been picked up by mostly tabloids, the article seems to be repeating itself to the original source, so there's only one side of the story so far. I wouldn't give much thought to it.
Regardless its the same thing with Becks a few years ago, and it eventually died down.

WTF. What does his personal life have to do with football? That's ridiculous. What counts is what he does on the pitch. Not what he does on the bed.

The only problem is if this leads to problems between players in the national team, meaning he could stop commanding the respect of the other players. I've always liked Bridge, but if that happens, ship him out and bring Luke Young in. Terry's one of the few players England can really count on.

I'm going for 4-0 today, even at Turf Moor, I can't see how Burnley would be able to stop us.

wow. you must have too much time on your hands. :/

Leading Burnley now. They've done well and tried to attack us unlike most bottom teams, but great goal from brilliantly executed counter-attack. Cech retrieves ball->long throw to Joe Cole->Joey sprints and plays a brilliant pass to Malouda->Malouda cuts back to Anelka->1-0.
