Just finished watching the game. Decent outing for Zhirkov I must say. Nice finish off the rebound. Sheva looked sharp after coming on.

Great workout for the lads, although I'm suprised the back four wasn't changed in the match.(apart from Hutchinson in the end)

So far 3 out of 3 for Carlo. Not bad at all.

Yes, Zhirkov looked very though and impressing.

And the good thing is Chelsea played against good teams to test themselves.

Man has Ronaldinho lost his speed, even I could run faster than him. Great game, should've been there since I live 90 minutes away from Baltimore. I'm gutted I didn't go. Drogba had a great goal, but Ronaldinho held the ball very well so Seedorf could shoot.

Carlo's gotta use more of Mancienne, Di Santo and Hutchinson this season, we really need to get some youth into the team.

Hilario
Mancienne - Alex - Carvalho - Hutchinson
Essien
Sinclair - Malouda
Deco
Kalou - Sturridge

Our lineup for the match. Ancelotti is letting people have a go basically, but why Hilario? Turnbull's there, we brought him in, Hilario was pretty crap last time out, has Turnbull done this badly in training?

EDIT: 0-0 first half, and we're really poor. An awful match with no continuity, many mistakes and no vision from any of our players. Sturridge missed a sure-goal because Sincair's cross bounced and he couldn't hit it properly. Neither him nor Kalou have done much so far, nothing actually. Sinclair isn't ready. Whenever he does something right, which is always his dribbling, he overdoes and tries to do it all himself and loses the ball. Malouda should be getting more balls because he's one of the best on the field and he hasn't done much either. Deco has shown that he's the man with vision I'll get to now, meant that he's been absent for a while. Essien, haven't seen him do a thing, hasn't really had to. Alex and Carvalho are solid. Now, the fullbacks. They keep getting the ball... why? They do nothing with it. They don't know how to build the attack and they keep having to. So they pass back or short and it leads to nothing. They're ok defenisively. Hilario is actually good when I compare him with everyone else, but he needlessly threw himself at a cross and missed, showing me that he's still crap.

We got a lot of corners and free kicks and had a few good headers, as well as one or two shamble-chances. America's keeper is the man of the match so far simply for stopping these chances. We've done nothing else. Neither have they, but even with our subs we should be able to do something. Many bad passes, over-dribbling, etc. I think that if Mancienne and Hutchinson stopped being our play-starters we'll get somewhere. Deco and Malouda need to get the ball more. The youngsters will improve, but not if they keep getting the bal like they do because they can't do anything with it where they get it. Kalou should drop back and help build the offensive, but we'll probably bring in some other guys. I want Hutchinson off for Zhirkov, or he should move to centre-half. I think he and Michael will do better there.

Sheva on for Sinclair, Surridge off, Di Santo on, Turnbull on. I assume Di Santo and Sheva are forward with Kalou taking over from Sinclair. It's possible that Sheva is playing as a winger. No idea, it's as if they don't know whatg their position is. Not shambles, just weird, dunno who the right winger is supposed to be, but haven't seen Kalou or Deco there. Kalou seems to be playing either as a forward or in Deco's original position.

EDIT: Yeah, forget positions, no clue. Pizarro on for someone, I think Kalou. Ivanovic on for Mancienne, Cole for Hutchinson in the 60's. We're better now. Attacking more, keeping the ball further up the field, playing quicker. Hutchinson and Mancienne are better now too, without having to create an attack, they're defending well and when they attack, it leads to something, both have had good chances. This is better, but only slightly.

EDIT: 1-0. Malouda turns around after getting a pass from Cole outside the area and crosses it in, Di Santo stretches for it and puts it in. He runs to the bench and jumps on Terry, everyone looks really happy for him, so am I, in terms of who I wanted to score in preseason, it's been very good. Only Sheva left, and Anelka, but the latter will score. Holy ****. As I write this Di santo gets the ball on the flank, cuts inside on the byline and passes it to Malouda, who scores. 2-0. Di Santo and Malouda with an assist and goal each.

And that's about it. A deserved win in the end.

I'm really happy for Di Santo. He dropped back a lot to get the ball moving forward, basically doing things he didn't do under Scolari

It looked like everyone was dropping to get the ball, seriously, in the 2nd half, I think they kept swapping positions with one another. Sheva looked good, too, it's a shame he didn't get a goal. I think Pizarro is the striker we'll ship off. With Kalou playing as a forward instead of the wing, we have a lot of them now, and personally, this is my pecking order:

Drogba
Anelka
Kalou
Di Santo
Sheva
Sturridge
Pizarro

Drogba and Anelka are our best strikers, Kalou is extremely good and offers something different to the other strikers. Sturridge and Di Santo are our young guys who should get some time, I prefer Di Santo right now because he's been here longer and knows the other guys better. You could see that when he scored his goal, EVERYONE was glad. It was really funny when he scored, too, because when he got the ball on the flank after that I thought 'he's confident now, he'll try to dribble' and he did, and we scored.

Sheva is our back-up experienced striker, but he needs to score. Until he does he's going to be over-eager to score, like against Milan. He was quite composed yesterday though, but probably because he was mostly outside the area. I haven't seen anything from Pizarro to suggest he should stay, and he's participated a lot in preseason. We have to many strikers, either Sheva or Pizarro need to leave, and right now I'd rather the former stay.

Ancelotti has come out and said that Joe Cole is in his plans for the next season, but as a the man behind the two strikers. My question is, who will play on the right wing? Ballack, Deco, Lampard and Cole all prefer the AMC position, and I assume that either of them or possibly Essien, Kalou or Belletti will play on the right, but none of those players play best in that position. I'm struggling to see how this formation will work for us, honestly, even though we've been successful in preseason with it.

I think we either need a right winger to be signed, one of our players to shock us with how well he can perform in this new position, or switch formation.

I have to watch Chelsea matches. I started watching in the 65th minute, we're down by 2 against reading. Kalou scores in the 88th and an own goal at the 90th gives us the tie. I hope this a wake-up call to the players. Our first 7 league matches are really must-win against easier opposition and from what I saw, we couldn't get around their defense, and we need to be able to crack these sort of defenses, we'll be facing them in many games this season.

Anyway, I don't think I saw enough to really comment on. Sturridge had a few shots, all fairly easy for the keeper. Alex and Terry looked good in defense, and Bosingwa, yet again, attacked a lot, but without that much effectiveness. Kalou scored a nice goal and seemed lively. The midfield look alright, nothing special, which it should be, IMO.

Sinclair on loan to Wigan. Hopefully he can improve and toughen up there. Its good that we're letting Stoch, Di Santo, Sinclair opportunities to get first team action.

Apparently according to Goal.com, via reports coming from Italy, we're offering cash plus Essien offer for Pirlo. Don't they think much of us do they?

Please, no need to bring up the daft tags. Its annoying enough that we've got them in the first place.
