yeah, I don't think Johnson has improved that much defensively. He was always more of an attacking full-back, he's shown countless of times with us, he will get beaten by pacy wingers one-on-one.
Perhaps he'll do well for Liverpool with Kuyt helping him out.
Now we're linked with Maicon. Hmm, now there's a player I wouldn't mind having. But the Boss is still our primary right-back IMO.

??? Bosingwa reportedly going to Bayern? HOW the hell do we let Bosingwa who cost us 16 million go to Bayern if this does happen and isn't a rumour.

I think this is just a media rumour spun off from the fact that Bayern WANT Bosingwa with nothing said from Bosingwa himself. But I'm really tired of some of our players like Carvalho and Drogba constantly speculating about their own futures Ronaldo style.

This is interesting, a swap for Pato and Drogba. I'd welcome the move with open arms, Pato is young and we need to decrease our squad age. Not sure if he's the most prolific goal scorer though.

If you will sign Pato you will also gain many thousands of fans! What means that? that he can became a useful bussiness, not only a good transfer!

Because we don't have anyone to cover for Cech. I assume Turnbull has potential, never seen him before, and he has a good 10 years or more in front of him, he could be a very good transfer, especially because he came for free.

We also have Sturridge and Zhirkov apparently, we'll see.

Sturridge, Turnbull and Zhirkov have all signed for us. It's looking good, we're not splashing, we're not in the headlines, I like it. Less pressure on the players. I can't see anyone but Zhirkov breaking into the first team right away, and even he has it tough.

Yeah, am glad we are not making the headlines for splashing.

Zhirkov gives much needed competition for Malouda.

Any updates on Joe Cole's injury?

EDIT..just checked the link posted by adek1991, J. Cole is back!!

He finished rehab in early June, so I'm really glad he's back. Also this Terry speculation has to end.

Pirlo, Sneijder, Pato, Dzeko, Villa, Ribery have all been linked to us. Frankly, I've always liked Sneijder and would love to have him. He'd also be the cheapest of the lot. Pirlo might be cheaper, but do we want another 30 year old whose never played in the premiership? Sneijder is still quite young and is as good, IMO, if not better than Pirlo. Pato and Ribery would be extremely expensive, we can afford that, but I don't see why we should revert to being big spenders again, there's no need for it.

I haven't seen much of Dzeko, but with Drogba, Anelka, Di Santo and Sturridge, I don't see the point of getting him. He's wanted by other clubs, too, which means inflated prices.

I think our problem is we don't have much on our bench when we need it. ManU have great depth, and that's why they're champions. I think another midfielder like Sneijder (who'd probably be a starter, or close to it) would do us good. Especially since it'd push the oldies to perform and stay fit. I hope we don't start selling, and with Turnbull, Sturridge, and Zhirkov, we've bought quite astutely, IMO.

Sneijder and we're done. I'm seeing:

Cech (Turbull)
Bosingwa - Carvalho - Terry - Cole (Belleti/Alex/Ivanovic/Zhirkov/Ferreira)
Essien (Mikel)
Lampard - Sneijder (Ballack/Deco)
Cole - Malouda (Kalou/Zhirkov)
Drogba (Anelka)

Even without Sneijder, that's a good squad. Several of those people in parenthesis are good enough to be starters, and it's good that many of them are versatile enough to play in several positions. That's why I don't want us to sell, any sale would need to be replaced. I especially don't want to see Carvalho leave, and he's been reported as leaving for the last few seasons. Terry won't leave, that's clear, and I can't see Cole leaving. Wouldn't be too bothered about Deco, and I hope this 'we want to sell Kalou' rumor is bogus. I'm hoping to see guys like Di Santo, Sturridge, Mancienne, Stoch etc. getting some time, because we haven't had anyone step up from our youth program and that ain't good.

Yep, we got a good squad, I'm excited about this new season, can't wait. I hope Ancelotti won't change things around too much, and if he does, for the better.

EDIT: Wow, I completely forgot about Pizarro and Sheva. Anyone think they'll step up?

Not reverting to big spending? Why not? I wanna win spoilt brat style. Buying Sturridge and Turnbull isn't gonna change our chances of winning a big trophy. Buying Aguero or Dzeko instead probably would though. Drogba is gonna have an inconsistent season again probably, same with Anelka. Di Santo is nowhere close to being a starter, and Kalou probably won't reach the potential we hoped he would. And Sneijder? That would be great and all but would have to get rid of Deco first. Also, I don't like Ballack anymore. He was great with Bayern and Bayer and is good for Germany but not for us. Still not a single proper right winger on the team

Meh it depends on Ancelotti and how Man U do next season more than anything.

For those who seriously believe all this cock and bull story about Terry "wanting" talks with City, according to "reports" without quotes from the man himself, here's a list of things JT said beforehand. With the addition of the club putting out a statement rejecting City's offer for JT.

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id...311&cc=5739

""Chelsea told me what had happened with the enquiry as a courtesy. I was very happy with their reaction as mine would have been the same. I have always said that I want to end my career at the club which I love and we all see no reason why that cannot happen. Given recent events I am more determined than ever to make Chelsea successful again.''

and even more recently...

http://msn.foxsports.com/soccer/story/9633...celotti-arrival

and earlier this month...

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id...929&cc=5739

"Next season we need to make sure we start a lot better than we did last year and really push for the Premier League because I would love to win that trophy again, as well as being back in the mix for the Champions League. It is important we realise Ancelotti is going to be here for a good few years, he is going to bring in his own players, staff and training methods.

"We need to adapt to that and move Chelsea in the right direction.''

Doesn't really sound like he's leaving.
Yes, JT hasn't come out and said anything since City's first bid, neither has the club.
But I can only assume that we're working on a deal with JT while the media wankfest goes on the surface.

I'm hearing people saying, since Soccernet/ESPN posted it, it must be true.
Wake up and snort the coffee.

Its evident that Soccernet is aspiring to become more like tabloid based sites like Goal.com and the Sun, with their according "to sources and reports" bollocks.

LInks don't seem to work mate.

This morning on the rumor mill, I heard that he wants a pay increase that is similar to Lampard but Chelsea are not willing to give it to him. So because he is in a contract, they are not going to do anything, and that if he decides to move, he will have to put in the paperwork.

It all may be a rumor, yet I find it interesting that Terry would move to City.

do you think chelsea's squad is a bit old? how many youngster you have? it's hard to keep momentum and consistency with an old squad like Milan and Juve last year.
