By the logic of some people here, you should NEVER control a ball that is 3 feet high whether there are players around or not. Let the ball go out for a throw in or let the ball go to the opposition. Logical.

Pretty much, how dare he try to bring the ball down.

FIFA should just ban raising a foot above knee level, because you know a player might otherwise want to run into it and hurt himself

I'm a level 3 ref and I'd give a straight red for that
Mus, SG's house referee, just called into the show and settled it for all. We can all go to bed now. (H)

Former Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher: "(The decision was) harsh to say the least but in fairness the Real player did Nani no favours whatsoever. At worst Nani catches the underside of his arm, certainly not the ribs as the guy has gone down and shown. I can't reiterate enough that he (Nani) is watching the ball over his shoulder, there was no malice in him. At worst it was a yellow for dangerous play, but if I was refereeing that game I cannot see what stretch of the imagination where I would have sent him off for that."

Sportingintelligence: "Won't do ref any favours on Twitter he follows only 2 non-Turkish clubs; 1 is Real Madrid, other Barca. Also follows Spanish tourism board!"

Fuck that ****

If your arm is outstretched it's still handball. 90% of penalty box handballs are like that one.

Ive seen more not given then given. There has to be an intent to handle the ball.

And this wasn't a regular handball, Higuain headed it against a hand from point blank range, it wasn't a cross deflection.

Maybe i watch too much EPL and it just didn't catch on to the rules being played in rest of Europe yet.

exactly, thank you. the leg is no where near Arbeloa's chest.

LOL, what!? You know your ribcage goes all the way around to your spine, right? He kicks him in the side of the chest, studs up, not on his arm.

this was always going to be the best thing about the glamour Real-Man U tie: Mou through + Srallex out! (Y)

Harsh or not, Madrid were the only team trying to play football and the better team went through.

Typical Spanish, eh Fergie?
wow, that is music to my ears :33vff3o: ...

I haven't watched the match yet (I listened to Onda Cero's coverage at work), but I'm looking forward to this!

also, shame about Waxtap not pulling off a result ... but looking at the stats, that was a more than deserved result ...
