My dad has the original copy of this, 1973. He is a great Pink Floyd fan... Which I found in a closet...the cd looks very fit for it's age...clean and all. This cd is a masterpiece so far, and I haven't heard it all. Stopped in Great Gig in the Sky...my favourite so far, what a haunting song...
don't stop now Johnny, Money comes next :jambo:

and I should say that "The Great Gig In The Sky" is indeed my favourite song of the album, so f'cking beautiful.

You guys still in the old Pink Floyd kind of stuff eh?

Anyways, some other album's I've gotten since the last time from bands that're still around that're really good would be:

Motion In The Ocean (2006) - McFly
100 Broken Windows (2000) - Idlewild (the best album you'll never hear)
Absolution - Muse
Changes (2006) - Lisa Miskovsky
Under My Skin (2004) - Avril Lavigne
Kasabian - Kasabian
Waterloo To Anywhere - Dirty Pretty Things

O-Car man, isn't it wierd how people who listen to indie and heavy metal and everything like Sigur Ros even though Sigur Ros sounds almost like classical music?

yup, it is. I didn't realize Sigur Rós had listeners in Canada. I know that they have been making a name for themselves in the US, their music has been included in some tv shows and they did recieve an MTV award some years ago. Amazing music, and we've had some great musicians recently. Björk of course is well known, so is her ex music group, the Sugar cubes, who recently came back together for a reunion concert, Emilia Torrini, she had a song featured in a Lord of the Rings movie, and many more who haven't made the leap to the foreign market yet and are still limiting themselves to Iceland. Oh boy, do we have some talented musicians. Contact me if you want to hear some more Icelandic groups

I think thats a bit debateable - most Idlewild fans tend to fall into "pre- Remote Part" or "post-Remote Part" categories and I definately fall the latter. The Remote Part is an absolutely brilliant album. I don't mind 100 Broken Windows but I find it just a bit too Indie for my liking.

Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness
Jimi Hendrix - Axis: Bolder Than Love
Johnny Cash - American IV

Couldn't choose one.. :)

Idlewild are a great band, one of my longtime favourites.
such is the progression of their music that the debate over someones favourite album of their's really depends on what your into.

i think it goes someting like this:
anarchich punk --> indie phase --> full out Pop band.

i love the early stuff from the Captain EP, but in terms of an album The Remote Part is by far the best. Every single track is of worth whereas on 100BW a few are a bit debateable and Hope Is Important is a bit to Pretentious Arty Indie for me.

I thought that Hope Is Important was crap until I listened to it a bit more. It's kinda different and not so catchy but still a really good album. I've always thought that Idlewild should make albums with a mix of music rather then have one theme. They're much better at the whole scream indie rock thing (they don't completely scream and it was only in the beginning music on some songs) then some of the newer bands that've come out in America.
