wow, I got really surprised by reading this thread, 'coz I allways saw Wolf the main anti-FIFA guy around :P I even remember ur astronaut cat sig :P I was allways a big FIFA fan (and editor) untill PES3, but besides playin more PES currently, I still get down with FIFA a lot.

u made sum fabulous (hard) work in favor of PES, and this change pretty much proves your honesty and unbiased opinion

congrats man (Y) I only started playin the demo of 06 (and starting to enjoiy it a lot) and I must say reading ur post made me rise my expectations for the game

Many of these complains have to do with difficult of the game, do you play in semi-pro? Cause it's default semi-pro on demo, i play in World Class and CPU is very smart, crosses and long range shots, also shots from inside the box...

No i am playing in default (semi pro?). have you ever tried to go in the small box and shoot? i never

I did and I'm play in pro mode not semi-pro

I'm a we/pes fan since we2002 or pes3. Now after I played several days on fifa2006 demo, I found it become a comparable game to we/pes finally!
Of coz fifa is still behind of we/pes, but it is catching up with his steps now.

Well here's my opinion on the fifa 06 demo, i must say i was very surprised by the game play. The graphics were nothing special really, just the norm for EA.
I have for the last few years allways played the pes games, basically because i believe there is nothing that comes close to the actual gameplay of pes.
I still think this is the case even after playing the fifa 06 demo, but still saying that, i believe the new fifa game has come on leaps and bounds since fifa 05. And i also think that easports has now got itself a solid foundation to create a truly great epic soccer game .
Mind you saying that i am a person who is easily pleased. I remember buying most of the fifa games and thinking wow this is great. But i also remember playing them for a certain amount of time and saying to myself what was i thinking this is not so great (or some other choice words).
I would also just like to say a big thankyou to wolf for all his great patches for the pes games. And also like me, i hope wolf remembers .

Yup, I second that.
And this applies to Mouta specially. He always interferes when someone says something that even slightly outshines the greatness of annual fifa title. Not that I consider pes/we as something saint and untouchable, but he's neverending EA hound dog behavieour is getting annoying.
Maybe there's something to do with him appearing in those fifa ''credits''.

My contract with EA doesn't have a line saying that i need to defend the game... :) i defend it cause i like it, i'll put this in other way, it pisses me of seeing people that just bash the game... did you ever thought that?

Well I've played the demo of FIFA06 just now and although I am a PES-player, I must say I like the demo a lot. FIFA is improving.

What I miss actually is crowd. There is almost no cheering, hardly any supporterflags or fans in the colors of their fav team. Is this normal for FIFA?

Since Wolf is going to FIFA06, I will give this game a chance. Who knows with all some patches it could turn out to be a good game. Just gotta get the crowd fixed :boohoo:

About smoothness use render_every_ai_frame = 1 command line on cfg_h.ini and you'll notice a great difference...

Where do you find this file?? Thanks in advance...

This is because it's a demo, also referee and linesman are not in the field in the demo...

"Voting with your feet"

The term “voting with your feet” refers to people going where they can get the biggest bang for their money. As consumers, we benefit from products that give us the greatest satisfaction at a reasonable or competitive price. There are tangible and intangible goods; I think you guys know where videogames fall under.

What Wolf did is correct, in terms of expecting the most out of a product for which he has to dish out hard earned cash. He has placed everything on a scale, he has weighed the pros and cons and made a rational decision, one based on his own criteria (those things important to him).

If there were more people like Wolf, the video gaming industry would be force to improve more quickly based on gamer feedback. This is something not always done in the manner we would like to see.
As for me, the jury is still out on both FIFA and W11 (I bought both last year). I am in a wait and see mode, I’m not buying out of impulse, not from any of these developers.

Konami has to stick to what made it a favorite with a lot of you while at the same time it should try to keep and eye on FIFA and make sure they are not loosing ground (as they might be doing). On the other hand, FIFA has to listen to us and react expeditiously, not when they feel it is the right time (given their own marketing strategies) to improve.
The only thing that can impact game makers is your money (or the lack thereof).

I totally agree with you on this. I mean PES might have better gameplay to most people and yet a lot of people want that but at the same time not many things are licensed and people are proably getting annoyed at having to download so many patches just to make it as authentic as possible.

But on the other hand FIFA might not have the best gameplay regarding to real football but at the same time they have what 21 licensed leagues, 30+ licensed international teams, licensed balls, stadiums etc.. I mean you dont have to download so many patches just to make it real, so maybe some kits arent totally correct but there closer than as to what PES has.

So all in all people are now looking at not only JUST gameplay but the fact that if your a PS2 owner like me you can't just go online and download a patch to correct everything. Im not here to side with FIFA but im not afraid to say that I never played a PES/WE game but at the same time I wont say PES/WE sucks. But seeing how FIFA 2006 to me isnt looking all that bad and they have what I want now is a decent career mode and the Portuguese Liga. So even though the gameplay isnt up to par with real football, again as a PS2 owner it has decent gamplay with the licenses that I want so its more of a "complete package" in my personal opinion. Ive seen a lot of mixed reviews of the demo but at the same time many of them could be fixed by the release of the final version.

Could FIFA get better, of course, am I a total happy about fifa these past years, of course not because I never bought 2005, I got 2004 for christmas, I did buy EURO 2004 because of it being in Portugal and having the portuguese stadiums etc.. but if it wasnt I would of never bought it.

Im going to give FIFA a try this year but to me its all about the total package and not just one or two things, its really about the "most bang for your buck" type situation, where yes if you are a PC user its easy to download and install patches but as a console user its easier to either not buy a game or buy the game that has the most bang, licenses, decent gameplay etc..

Again this is just my opinion and how I look at it, oh and sorry if you don't understand what I wrote I tried to make it as clearly as possible. :)

hi all 1st post here: juz wanna say, i'm gonna miss wolf :)
tks for the many wonderful patches but i'm sure we over at pes wld welcome u back with open arms if u want to :)

and though i played the 06 demo and we9, i still prefered we, juz didnt like the way the ball moves in 06, much too "pinball" for my liking.
plus another very impt pt imo, the muchh better ability to tweak tactics in the we series, abt finding the rite customized formation for the players, gives me lots of satisfaction after many practice matches b4 the players "gel" into the new formation. to me fifa doesnt offer that level of depth.
