Who could steal the show at EURO 08

Fili, I know that it's not probable, but I may dream. (H)

No, really, I think he won't probably stay and if he did, I don't think he would play as good as he has in the EURO. If Pep, for some reason wants to keep him, to give him another chance, I sure hope he'll take it, and return to his old level.

About Deco's performance; I was surprised when the commentators said he was the player who ran the longest distance in the 1st half - 4.7km. I've never thought of him as a workhorse, but that shows that he really works hard, which always gets my respect.

really? you didn't see him as a worker? who do you think did all the work while Ronaldinho and Messi had their fun upfront when you guys won the CL? Deco's been a working midfielder since he joined Porto..he just tops that with great technique, vision and passing....world class man, just world class. One of my favorite players ever :D

Roger Guerreiro is for my money one of the nice finds of the tournament so far...had another standout game against Austria....also must mention Srna and Rakitic who had monster games Specially Rakitic who drove the German RB crazy today....Ballack had a torrid game and Podolski was too lonely...so far only Guerreiro has repeated his game one performance..

Well Fili, it might be because of last season. You know, the newest memories usually seem the clearest and truest. Yeah, and that distance I wrote there was a typo, it was 5.7km. (Y)

deco was the player who ran most during the game, almost 11km
he's a fabulous player, great vision, technique and passing, very good tactically and knows when to attack and when to defend. one of the most complete midfielders i've ever seen playing and in my opinion, barças best midfielder
as i've said before i'm pretty sure barça will regret selling him and will miss him in the seasons to come

Yesteday's game I really liked Sneijder once again, And Robben who turned the game on its head when he came on...oh Yeah Van Der Vaart has been very consistent as well....

I also fancied Rat from Rumania that is now his second game where he performs well...

Buffon had of course a good outing, and I thought De Rossi looked good for them...

For France, there is not a lot to salvage IMO save Frank Ribery who has been great in spite of how poorly the French have played...And Sidney Govou had a decent game as well..

Fernandez

Team Captain
I thought Russia's Yuri Zhirkov was ace for the 2 games he's played. Adventurous going forward, he's been Russia's best player so far in this tournament.

^ my thoughts as well, the guy is amazing. He's going out of where he is right now (i think some russian team) doing that kind of exhibitions...

How come you don't remember him? He scored one of the goals in the 2005 UEFA Cup final against Sporting.
By the way, his goal against Hamburger SV in the UEFA Champions League 2006-07 was chosen as best goal of the competition by UEFA Magazine "Goal":

Arda Turan

There was rumours that clubs like Everton and Newcastle offered around 12 million euros for him before the tournament but Galatasaray rejected it. Some call him a wonderkid, some call him the Turkish Maradona..
Well, i will leave it up to you how to call him but let me tell you a thing or two about this youngster.

He is born in 30 January 1987, he came from the nationwide famous youth system of Galatasaray, and he is already the most important player our nation has ever witnessed.
He can play anywhere in midfield, left, right, centre. He also played as a right attacking full back for an entire season and was very succesfull at it , he is basically a sort of player that can play anywhere.
He can use both his feet, i never saw any turkish player with such dribbling ability, and ofcourse his perfect vision, its just crazy.

So far in Euro 2008, he has been elected man of the match twice in row and scored very crucial goals for his team.
Well guys, if you havent realized him so far, make sure you know who to watch during the Turkey-Croatia quarter finals. ;)

Underneath is a year old video of his moves.

I thought the old warhorse Servet Cetin was much better. Standout central defender for me.

Servet is a robot. For example he was medically not fit to play for the last two games but nobody knows how was he able to play so good in this tournament. But Arda is an offensive player so cant really compare both.
But let me tell you this, if Arda crashes into Servet, he might go into coma.

I liked that Arda kid, he was esential i think in the comeback, but more important that he I believe was Tuncay who with leadership and spirit, pushed the team on when it all looked lost...but again taking my hats off to this kid who indeed looks very promising!
