Which Premiership Team should I support?

Don't give me that "let the team choose you" bull****. Oh what a surprise, both of you guys conveniently chose the far superior team that has enough of a fanbase in America to be on television. Not everyone is going to accidentally turn on a soccer game and see one team the first time they watch the sport. Some people get hooked by the World Cup and International game and then since they like it transition into following a league. It's not fun to follow a league without a team, so they choose a team. There's nothing wrong with that, and they'll likely pick a less glory hunting team than all of you people who "let the team pick you."

It's not bs. The first Barca match I saw was a defeat, and Nuno started following Madrid through Figo. None of us knew how big Barca and Madrid were. I sure as hell didn't, because I couldn't even tell who they were, I had to have my cousin tell me. But you'd know that if you read our posts and actually tried to understand them.

Oh and, by the way, following a big team does not make you any less of a fan, so I'd appreciate it if you didn't call us gloryhunters. Thanks.

Senior Squad
No but i completely agree with the fact you need to watch the teams on that list play, and at the end you will know which won you support, because when they beat a team in a david vs. goliath game, you're on top of the world for the next few days.
E.g for me : Fulham 3 Man utd 1 @ OT and Fulham 1 Chelsea 0 @ the Cottage.

Out of the teams you have - i wouldnt pick middlesborough, because even people in the place can't be ****ed to watch their games. West Ham, while a great team - do have alot of racial tension within their crowd; i hate going to their games. And i just hate blackburn because i associate twats like - Neil, Bellamy,Dickov and Reid, with their team.

I'm not having a random dig at people but for me you can never be linked to a club the extent of someone who grew up in the local city or at least country of a club if you don't speak the club's country native language or are at least connected with it's culture somehow.

You can support teams from other countries and feel sad when they lose and happy when they win, buy loads and loads of merchandise, but nothing even comes close with the feeling of growing up in a country or a town surrounded by all the rivalry and hate.

I know it's hard for you guys from countries with poor football teams and leagues (sometimes it's hard for me being a Benfica fan as well to an extent), but it's just the way it is. There are some things that you cannot experience being fans of a football team outside of it's home nation or culture.

You can be the most fanatic supporter and lookup every article concerning the club you support over the internet, watch games on the telly, party with friends after the wins and cry with the defeats, but that just doesn't change it.

Absolutely nothing beats moments like being in the Luz stadium last season when a 3rd string Benfica side beat an almost full strenght Man Utd side to qualify for the CL Last 16. Everyone in tears of joy, complete strangers hugging themselves. The next day completely without voice, looking at the face of the Sporting and Porto supporters at work/school who had said we'd get thumped the day before. I know I wouldn't trade that memory for a shag with Scarlett Johansson.

This is really ridicolous asking which team you should support, if you truly wanna support a team you cant ask anyone else. The most stupid thing was not relegated, real fans cheer for their team even if they're relegated find a team by your own!

I agree with your post, but why did you write that? It wasn't the subject of discussion.

When I was in Barcelona, I felt excited, and different. It's the vibe, I guess. And when I arrived in the Nou Camp, it was magic. Being there for a while was something extraordinary for me. I was influenced by that experience, and I wasn't even at a football game, but at a pretty much empty Nou Camp, with only tourists walking around. I can only imagine what a Barcelona citizen feels like.

Oh well

Well, since I'm actually in the situation you mentioned, I'm gonna reply, though I'm not taking it as a dig or something.

I believe you're correct in the fact that some things are just not gonna be the same, though I don't think anyone's claimed that... I can only speak for myself, and I believe myself to be a Liverpool fan. Sure, some people are much more linked to the club than I am. Then again, some people are not. That doesn't make me less of a fan.

Some people are lucky enough to be born in a place where they enjoy the football style played there, or grow to like the style played there. I'm not that lucky. I believe Brazilian football to be too slow for my liking, and sometimes it's a bore to watch Corinthians (who are my fav "local" side) playing. I'm sure you never experience that with Benfica, and I certainly don't experience that with Liverpool, even though they're called boring every now and then. To me it's more like "nervous", shouting at the telly and stuff like that when they go direct to Crouch.

So yeah, we agree on basically everything, it's just that I don't feel like less of a fan because I live miles and miles away.

(Y)

Yeah, while the "feeling" has to be different for those who live where their club is, it doesn't make the rest of us lesser fans.
If anything, I think I appreciate seeing Barca more than people who live there. Living in Barcelona, you can go to the match, or watch it on TV or in some caffe. I, on the other hand, can watch Barcelona games only when they're shown on TV here, and that's not every week, like in Spain. Well, Internet and some new channels changed that, but I didn't always have these things so it was hard at first.

Just wanted to point that out. It's looking at the matter from a different perspective.

Lets stop going off-topic now

I'm sort of a special case. I was born and lived in Bucharest for 12 years. In that time I became a Steaua fan simply because it was in my family. As I grew up and started to watch more and more football and go to matches my love for Steaua grew to a point where I could never let go. I was on the streets when they won big games and I was in my room sad and crying when they lost them. When I moved to the US in 2000 I knew that it wouldn't affect my love for Steaua at all. I still follow every single game whether it is by radio, sattelite tv or just website updates. Last years run in the UEFA Cup was the highlight of probably the last 5 years for me. If we qualify for the CL this year it would be a dream come true. Last time we were in the groups was 10 years ago, I was 8 so obviously it didn't mean to me all that it would mean now. I'll never stop loving Steaua, no matter where I live. I can't wait for the day when I'll go back and watch them play in Ghencea again :rockman:

I dont know which team I should support, because I like a lot of players from different teams, but I dont know which one is good to go for.

Heres some rules:
  • No bandwagoners may tell me to join their team
  • I like a mixture of youth and veterans
  • I like a rough kind of team.
  • No Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal or Man U
  • Must not be relegated

Thank You
:|

start watching games and find a team you like

i dont get why you eliminate liverpool, chelski, arsenal and man united. So what if they are popular, if you like the way they play and you support them, make them your team
