Which Premiership Team should I support?

I dont know which team I should support, because I like a lot of players from different teams, but I dont know which one is good to go for.

Heres some rules:
  • No bandwagoners may tell me to join their team
  • I like a mixture of youth and veterans
  • I like a rough kind of team.
  • No Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal or Man U
  • Must not be relegated

Thank You

I think Tottenham is pretty good, they have some good players like J.Defoe. Aston Villa, Man City, Everton and Newcastle are also good, but personally I think that you shouldn't ask any1 else to tell what team to support. It's your own choice and you make it with your heart, what fells the best and what you like the most.

You've eliminated all the others, so.

Congrats, you're an Everton fan.

You're in luck, the greatest American sports columnist not named Peter Gammons just chose an EPL team to follow and had criteria very similar to yours. Here's Bill Simmons' breakdown of all the teams, and his eventual decision. There are quite a few errors you would expect from someone who is just getting into the sport, but don't let that discredit him because it's a pretty good column. Worth the read even if you don't decide like him. And for the record, I don't really follow an EPL team exclusively, I go through periods where I like pretty much all the teams (except Man U), so don't think I'm recommending this column just because he decides on my favorite club.

i saw that column a week or so ago, i thought it was a decent read, and he ended up picking spurs, which made sense based on his reasons, which were similar to yours.

I liked the Charlton comment: "Do you like the Detroit Lions? Good, this is your team." Its funny because I know someone who is a Lions fan.

I'm a Bayern Fan. I played for the Milwaukee Bavarian Soccer Club back in my playing days. Not much of a leap was needed. I'll cheer for other clubs that I like watching though, for example I really liked Arsenal's style the season before, and then the season where they didn't lose. Really fun to watch. I love Gerrard, and I think Drogba is the hardest working man in showbusiness. I'm actually a little upset that Shevchenko went to Chelsea, because that will slash Drogba's minutes, and I just love watching him play. I can't see Sheva being that all over the pitch target man that Drogba is.

one of my readers described [West Ham] as "Good for people who like '80s music and make references to George Michaels." Whether he was referring to the former Wham! singer or the guy who hosts "The George Michael Sports Machine," I'm not sure, but either way I was a little turned off.

Care to respond Hermolt? (H)

Well his reasons for picking City are kinda ok... but they have reached a point where relegation would be a surprise now... interesting they made his final 6... guess I can't see the reason for supporting tottenham tho... they are kinda like the 'default' team for people who don't want to support the top 4 from last season... well, top four from most seasons... couple of years ago his logic would probably have ended up with Newcastle... its true we have the best jerseys in the league, amazing the range of places I can go wearing it... steeee-lyyyy-eeesssh.

Come on, choose City... we need more than two people posting in our thread :fool: haha

Nah... we don't want no friggin gloryhunters jumping on board in the year we win the TREBLE!!!!!!!!! :hump: :lui: :chew: (C) :jap:

Weren't you in Division 2 like five years ago? In fact weren't you relegated in two consecutive seasons, and then achieved two consecutive promotions? With City, anything is possible. Well, except for winning the league. I also loved the description of Jose Mourinho and Roman Abromovic, so funny and so true. It almost made me want to jump on the Blues bandwagon in the most shameless way possible.

Errr.... yes, that DID happen to us but aaaahhhh... we don't like to talk about that....

Seriously, I don't think we are in a position to be relegated this season. Seriously.

I am an athiest man, but I gotta have faith in something....

Bonus Reason to Pick Them: Manager Jose Mourinho. Multiple readers compared him to Bill Belichick, which obviously piqued my interest. He's also known to "write entire 200-page game plans in preparation for even the easiest of matches," "wears all black and broods on the sidelines the entire game," "basically looks like somebody is trying to pull out his toenails until the second Chelsea scores" and "jumps around like a maniac all the time." I feel like you need to know this stuff.

This thread is exactly the reason why I can't take half the people in this forum seriously when it comes to matters of football. You can pick any old team out of a hat to "support", but you can never truely have any real connection to the club on a personal level. To me it's as ridiculous as asking "hey guys, which God should I beleive in?" :|

DJSizzleC, get down to your local club. Trust me, they need your support more than Rupert Murdoch's media empire because let's face it that is the closest you're going to get to the premiership, your TV screen.
