What are you reading?

I'm trying to read more classics and so-called "must-read" books.
The last books I read we're:
"Catcher In The Rye" by J.D. Salinger, I quite enjoyed it.
"High Fidelity" by Nick Hornby, it took me a while to get into it but it was ok, all in all.

I'm currently reading "The Brethren" by John Grisham and have "Gravity's Rainbow" by Thomas Pynchon, "Of Mice and Men" by John Steibeck and "Island" by Aldous Huxley lined up.

I read 'Catcher in the Rye' and 'Of Mice and Men', both good. Is Hornby any good? I have 'A Long Way Down', but haven't even opened it.

I also have a similar-minded list, containing:The Oscar Wilde Anthology, Othello, Hamlet, The Old Man and the Sea (Hemingway), Hunger (Hamsun), The Idiot, Crime and Punishment (Dostoevsky), Anne Frank's Diary, The Gospel According to Jesus Christ (Saramago), Beyond Good and Evil (Nietzsche), La Peste, L'Etranger (Camus), The Canterbury Tales, The Great Gatsby, The Crucible, All My Sons (Miller), The Little Prince.

Long lists are hard to conquer.

I just finished "Of Mice and Men". I enjoyed. I started reading "Island" by Huxley. I liked "Brave New World" so hopefully this'll be good, as well.
Out of your list, Mandieta6, I've only read Anne Frank's diary. It's definitely worth reading.
Hornby's good if you just want to read something light and easy-going. I liked "Fever Pitch" and "High Fidelity".

Just got Rant and Tell-All by Palahniuk. Will probably start reading Rant and abandon A Long Way Down by Hornby, which I had just started reading.

Kind of shocked that Hornby is so popular, since his style of writing is one that I developped and abandoned when I was 16. Kind of makes you feel like he thinks all of his readers are stupid. Sort of entertaining though, I might give it another go once I read the Chuck books.

Chuck Palahniuk for the win.
