So what is everyone reading at the moment? I'm guessing that most aren't reading anything ;) , but those who are, what? Also what have you read recently?

Just finished..
Black Boy by Richard Wright
Animal Farm (again) by George Orwell (seriously people, this is probably the best 2.5 hours, give or take 1 hour, you can spend)

Currently reading...
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

All of them are good, and Richard Wright has become sort of a hero to me over the past few months. I'll also recommend Native Son by Richard Wright.

Just finished all but the last few pages of The Universe in a Nutshell.

Partially into The Fellowship of the Ring (again) and Harry Potter - Chamber of Secrets (been on one chapter for about 6 months).

Reading a bunch of poetry and myths for school: So Hesiod's Theogony, right now, I guess could qualify.

Just was given Dave Barry's Big Trouble (i think that's the name).

Planning to read in the next couple months (also known as a year in my reading speed during school): On Equilibrium, The Gospel According to Jesus Christ; and Guns, Germs, and Steel.

1. War in the Age of Intelligent Machines - Manuel DeLanda, a multimedia artist, who writes from the perspective of the evolution of technology as an independent phenomenon rather than 'man' as the first person (I hope that makes sense). Another good one of his is '1000 years of NonLinear History', where he writes history from three different perspectives of morals, genes and bactaria.

2. Manslaughter United - Chris Hulme, a true story about a prison football team at HMP Kingston.

3. Empire - Michael Hardt and Antonio Negri, this one is massive and requires multiple readings and numerous breaks to mull over the content, I have put it down for a month and then come back to it. In a nutshell it is a treatise on the current political and economic climate of the world. Hardt is a lecturer in Literary theory at Duke, while Negri is an Italian dissedent and political prisoner. If anyone considers reading this, be warned: it is big, and it is dense. But if you have the time, it is worth the effort.

I HAVE to get Animal Farm. I'm dynig to read that book!

Hey Evan, so you're going to read "The Gospel According to Jesus Christ"? Great! You won't regret it. I just hope the translation's good and that you can adjust to his unique writing style. [yeah, Saramago doesn't use any ponctuation except commas and full stops.]

Very interesting books everybody's reading here. That's great to see! :)

The last book I read was "The Year Of Death Of Ricardo Reis".

Currently, I'm reading "100 years of solitude", by Gabriel García Márquez, which is one of the best novels of the 20th century. I'm half way through it, and I'm definitely hooked. The book is awesome!
I'm also reading a Portuguese dictionary and a grammar book.

Next, on my pile of books, I have:

- "Love in the Time of Cholera", by Gabriel García Márquez.
- "The Duplicated Man", By Saramago.

I know, I'm becoming obsessed with these 2 writers, but I have to read their stuff before they die.

That's the one - the book's at school so I couldn't check it up.

It is very good so far, although I'm not very far into it yet.

I have read Lord of the Flies and didn't think it was anything special.

You should read Kidnapped by R. L. Stevenson - magnificant book.
