I'm pretty sure the ref traded the handball for the clear penal on Anelka, so meh.

Which clear penalty was that?
Do you mean when Anelka dived and didn't even get booked?
Even if it was a penalty, it still doesn't justify what happened, so meh yerself!

I think Henry is not to blame here, the referee is. I don't think Henry conciously decided to handle ball. He just did everything within his power to get that ball to Gallas, because he probably wanted to win so badly. It's a disgrace the referee didn't see he handled the ball, but it's not a disgrace that Henry did so.

All your interest here is about the Henry's handball...

Well it is obvious that even Nicolas Sarkozy would stop the game and give foult and a yellow card to Tierry Handry...
It is also ovious that the ref decided to equalise his former decision not to give a penalty to BLEUS few minutes ago... I do not say that it was penalty but I am trying to imagine his thougthts after the event...
It is finally obious that Platini = France and Ireland deserved to qualify but what can we do now?
It is sad that games like Slovenia -Russia, Algeria - Egypt have not been discussed at all...

How can any of this crap be the refs fault FFS? If Henry didn't cheat then there would be no controversy. What a warped view of life some of you people have.

And Arsenal fans....you are so pathetic, but then again Arsenals success under Wenger was built on cheating. To you lot it's normal and acceptable to cheat. The fact that Henry used to be an Arsenal player should have no reflection on your opinions regarding what happened. Thats the sort of mindlessness I would expect from a kid.

Didn't Henry tell the World after Arsenal were beaten in the CL final by Barca, " I could never play for Barcelona. I just couldn't play for a team that cheats to win." He actually said that. He isn't just a cheat, he is a liar and a hypocrite. Probably why gooners can identify with a piece of sh1t like Henry.

And Help, don't you think that a line needs to be drawn sometime to make an effort to eradicate cheating? Yeah corrupt FIFA could have sorted this out long ago if they really believed in "Fair Play", but the truth of the matter is that the status quo suits FIFA. This is how they have manipulated the game in their favour for years.

For the same reason FIFA will not use technology in the game. With goaline or gameplay replays available to the ref, they will be helpless in deciding who is going to win and who is going to lose. A lot of money could be made with inside info of that quality .

Players should not cheat. It's that simple. Sportsmanship and integrity SHOULD be the foundation of every academy. The fact that some players do cheat, and there are more players out there that don't cheat by the way, is because this sickening practice has never been confronted by football's governing bodies.

Examples need to be made until a clear message is sent out that cheating will not be tolerated.

Eduardo of Arsenal ( oh what a coincidence), was given a 3 match ban by UEFA for diving, (overturned on appeal). Henry should be charged with the same charge of "decieving the referee". Lets have him banned for the first three games in the summer.

Better still kick the cheating bastards out and give the Republic their spot.

The fact that he now cheats for Barca does not give you the obligation to defend him Barca fans. Show some integrity yourselves and admit it was all Henry's doing and that the guy is a disgrace to sport.

Some of you people just can't see any further than the club you support. It aint about that at all, but you'll never get it will you?

Do you seriously think he thought: 'I'm going to make a handball and cheat so obviously so we can score'? Ofcourse he didn't. I mean I find myself on the football field sometimes also doing instinctively something wrong or against the rules, because I want to win. The only difference between me and Henry on this matter is that the ref usually calls me back and the ref yesterday didn't against Henry.

What? Which Arsenal fan has defended him here? He's not even an Arsenal player anymore, or is this just an attempt from you to have a go at Arsenal?

Again you try to turn this into an anti-Arsenal rant...lovely

I hate what happened last night and it's hard to feel any sympathy for Henry because I so badly wanted France to go out (and because he's a cheating twat of course)

Rationalising it though, Ireland would have gladly scored a goal like that so would most other nations if it meant a trip to the finals. Ireland are appealing for the game to be replayed. Obviously there's no chance of this happening but they have to register their discontent.

What I think is very important is that FIFA don't just try and brush it under the rug. They are constantly forcing players and viewers to adhere to their "FIFA Fair Play" campaigns yet when it comes to the crunch they never help to guarantee a fair playing field.

At the very least I don't see any reason why Henry shouldn't be given a ban, you cheated and got away with it, ok that's one thing. But it can't not come at a price. He should be banned for 2 or maybe all three of France's group matches.

Good post Pede54

First of all Henry should have never used his hand, that´s a poor cheat But if Henry really told the referee it was a handball i think the referee if full to blame.

Henry is the guy to blame because he didn't follow football used and cheated to win the match.

I hate the way that people point the blame just to the ref.

It's like you violate traffic rules and then say police is responsible to control me and fine me if needed.

people should obey rules in any field. and again shame on you Henry. and C'mon Fifa, make the replay, how "fair play" is their motto?

The worst thing is that footballers are getting the message that cheating doesn't make you popular, but it wisn you matches. Diving and voluntary cheating should be examined after every match and players should be fined and/or banned. You can't start changing results and asking for replays, that'd be like opening a Pandora's Box of whining, but there's no reason for them not to punish players afterwards. You're not going against the ref by doing that. Unless, of course, you start rescinding red cards or banning a player who dived and the penalty was awarded.

I also love the fact that Henry claims that he told the ref that it was a handball. When exactly did he do that? When he was running to the corner flag in celebration or afterwards when he was celebrating with Gallas and rest of the french team:blush:

Apparently the Irish Minister of Justice has asked for a replay after the Irish parliament debated the result during a plenary session. Does anyone know anything more about this?

Oh shut up, I love Henry, but he deserves to be punished for this. Cheating should be ppunished. It won't though. Even Zidane got punished.

If Henry wasn't a Barca player you would be saying the same thing. If it were Rooney, the ManU fans would do the same, and if it were LAmps, I would defend him, too. But if you say Henry should just be patted on the head and sent on his way, you're condoning cheating. You'd better not say a word about a single bad penalty call for Barca then.
