well he's right in one thing. I predict the 3rd and 4th place game to be far more exciting than the final, especially with Ricardo Carvalho out and a sh*t defender in his place.

Man... I'm already nervous. Only Saha got a yellow card that will suspend him for the final, right?

Yeah, what a blow for France hey? Now they'll be stuck and forced to play Trezeguet. :(

Italians already think they won the world cup, they have a great team but their huge egos might get in the way. Whether France can find a means to get past Buffon and the Italian defense is the main question, they will certainly have to change their counter attacking game because it won't pay off against the Italians, but I think apart from Argentina they're the best team in the competetion to do it.

France have a powerful weapon in Thierry Henry, when it comes to the diving stakes i think he'll put the Italians to shame just as he did with the Spanish and Portuguese. The French also have the experience and the greater talent in midfield, and i don't think Luca Toni, Totti, or ADP have enough to trouble their defence. Age is France's biggest set back, they seemed to fade in the 2nd half of the game with Portugal but i think the fact that the next game will be the last for many of their players will inspire them to put in one last big effort which could just make the difference for them. Zidane will likely be heavily marked by the Italians, so i think players like Ribery and Malouda will have to step up a couple of notches and take it to the Italians.

Italy will need to defy a trend which has continued in this world cup, England once again have failed to beat Sweden and got knocked out by the Portuguese for a second time in 2 years. Germany still couldn't find a way to beat Italy in a major competition. And Spain, Brazil and Portugal were all undone by France as they had been at least once before within the last decade or so. France have the edge over Italy and if they play as they did versus Spain i can see them lifting the cup again.

That was the first thing I thought about too. :( Damn Saha.

i'm seriously gonna think that treze told saha to make stupid tackles, both of his yellow cards were totally lost causes.

ok with me i like treze better, as i said ever since we took out the spanish and brazilians, all of this is just the icing on the cake, we never thought "the grandpas" could take us to the final yet they did, and after watching the Zidane vs brazil match, i'm totally satisfied with everything he has done on a football pitch.

Zidane est magique!

Henry needs a partner upfront, he is so isolated. He gets frustrated as you saw, last night when instead of passing to Ribery he just went by himself.

I'm going to the Rogers Centre to watch this on the big screen with 60,000 others, don't care who wins, just hope it's a great match :bob:

We apologize for keeping the yellow too long
Yellow Card
Itay is too strong....too complete for the French. I would really like France to win so that Zidane can retire as a winner but just can't see it happening!

2-0 for Italy

dude malouda and giuly play different sides, your comparison makes no sense, malouda is a left winger, giuly is a right wing, just by watching ribéry's workrate i rather have him than giuly (even if ribéry plays for the forces of evil, olympique de marseille)

Well then replace Guily with my boy Rothen. By the way, when my parents went to the south of France a year ago the only thing I wanted was a Jerome Rothen jersey. Although with him not on the team, I'm glad now that the France jersey I did get doesn't say Rothen.

I say France 2 - 1 Italy

Henry gets the first, assists the second, and the Italians get a late consolation goal to make it interesting.

2 - 1, France.

Zizou x2 ; Zizou (OG)

If he goes out on top, it will be very interesting where he'll place as one of the great one's...

Ribery can play on the left but i think france may be better off playing two strikers otherwise they aren't going have a chance against Italy.

Starting XI
The only team that can score against Italy are the Italians themselves.

As much as I would like to see an entertaining and high scoring games, I don't see the best back line in the world making any mistakes.

It would take the greatest striker in the world in order to beat that back line, and luckily for Italy..... wait a second
