Wayne Rooney to miss World Cup?

As for me, the World Cup beats any club tournament anyday. But, of course, this one will be less interesting for me - there will be no Russia :boohoo:

The world cup is crap if you ask me. Just keep watchig club footie and you will never be dissappointed. 4yrs of waiting to see countries without thier full potential is just ridiculous and stupid.

4-5-1? No chance.

Darren Bent's the top scoring Englishman this season. That effort requires a reward.

Yeah I know... highly unlikely formation but why go with the same old expected formula. It worked for Chelsea and the special one especially against Man U this past weekend. England's midfielders are more likely to score than some of the strikers. Think about the chaos Cole and Lennon (and Wright-Phillips too) could wreak on defenses as they can swap sides of the field. You get some good service from Becks, Gerrard/Lampard and Carrick and they could be in business with whoever the striker is up front.

I think after Rooney it's wide open... I picked Owen mostly for his experience but agree Bent deserves a shot.

Great news!!

This guy has neat hair and a foreign accent. Rooney's troubles are sure to be over within days....and even if they're not, at least he'll have a set of bent spoons to look forward to.

We have Quality players, so even without Rooney we will put on a good show. Lampard, Gerrard and Cole score enough goals every season to have no worries there. So whoever is up front, with the right system, those three guys can wreak havoc on any defence in the World. Fergie says its crazy to expect to see Wayne at the World Cup. So we are gonna have to win it without him. Its as simple as that. :)

1958, a young up-coming striker is injured just before the World Cup. The doctors say it'll take him a while to recover, and wouldn't be fit until the third round of the tournament, "if we're lucky". Brazil chose to take him (and it was a huge gamble, as subs were not allowed). Pele went on to recover and give Brazil their title.

Same story with Rooney?

Who needs Wayne Rooney when you have another Everton boy?

Can't doubt his record in an England shirt :jambo:

Why does everyone forget Owen?! He is a much more proven striker then Rooney and the rest of the strikers (Crouch, Bent, Vassel, Defoe etc..) Rooney is class! He works soo hard and is a technicaly a superb player (mentaly he is poor ;P).

But come on some guys say that the place alongside Rooney in the English first 11 is wide open. Thats totally BULLSH*T!! Owen always had a place in the first 11 and will always have it till he quits. He scores more then everyone else. Eriksson said it more then once that his first choises were always Owen & Rooney. So no Crouch, Bent etc.. btw, I as a English NT fan would never accept that someone unexperienced at international level would start at such a big tournament. (even if he deserves it, thats why we have subs ;) )

O well, we ll see. I hope we ll get to see Rooney at the WC, he deserves it! Its a shame that he always gets this before or at a big tournament.

:rockman: Owen & Rooney :rockman:

he's doubtful for the cup too
Yeah, but Owen's injury isnt as bad as Rooneys. Rooney will probably miss the first round. Owen will play from the start, because from what i v heard his injury isnt very bad. He just had some pain after he made his return and the doctor told him that its normal to have pain, but it ll leave when you play some games.

in my personal opinion, Rooney should be in. England can easily qualify from their group without him, and after that then he'd be fit. He's so important to the english side that I don't think anyone would be feeling left out.

Man that would be a horrendous miss for England if both Rooney and Owen arent able to start playing or begin playing in the WC at all. Im not saying England arent capable of doing any good without them, but it just makes it that much more tougher when u have 2 class players like Rooney and Owen out with an injury.

Yeah! And for that matter f*ck the olympics. 4 years of buildup and billion in construction for a few weeks of athletic competition, are they kidding?

This could be the worst post ever, even worse than that "have you ever heard of Wayne Gretzky?" thread

And can someone clarify what Uri Geller possibly had to say about this? The guy needs a real job

lol oh man. Well I agree on one part.. the part about waiting 4 years to see countries playing without their full potential because that is so true. We always hear the WC favourites and most of them underperform a lot which is disappointing. I think this year tho we're gonna be showcased to a lot more attacking-style football, even though it has always been that way, in June it's gonna start with more excitement, action and drama.

CAM ON..its the WORLD CUP! :bouncy::bouncy:
