Why should it be embarrassing? We know our weaknesses and tried to compensate by doing what we were capable of. Sitting deep and relying on a few chances that always come our way. It's a lot better than going into a match with the belief that we're an outstanding attacking force and losing 3-0. It even almost worked.

hoping for some scraps and trying to grasp at them? like a beggar? that's not embarrassing to you? have some dignity for god's sake ... what happened to the having the stars of the best teams of the best league? (H)

And it has nothing to do with dignity. We might have one or two players in our squad who could be termed 'stars', as you might have noticed when we subbed Henderson on.

yeah it all starts with possession and holding on to the ball. england could not gain the ball, especially in the 2nd half and in the 2nd half of extra time. (in stoppage time of the 1st extra time england actually had a good chance) italy had the ball, england defended their own line very well, then it went out and on the goal kick, england were kicking it past the midfield stripe and Italy was gaining possession then driving up field again. (this cycle kept repeating until the 120th minute) england should have benefited from a short pass off the goal kick in the later stages to give them more time of possession.

italy played the better all around game, they held a 63-37 possession % advantage and had twice as many passes completed than england. england played very consistent defense, keeping goals out, but most of the game was contested in their own half and that limited their chances. one thing i was a bit surprised that when england finally drew a foul in the 120th minute, the ref did not allow any 2nd half extra time stoppage time and blew the whistle before england could take the kick. and a few minutes before that ashley cole was called for a foul when the italy guy just kicked it ahead and ran into cole. it was amazing england defended all those chances. they did show resiliency and skill in not letting italy score, but they also did not give themselves enough chances on the ball throughout the game by allowing Italy to dictate the territory % and the pace of the match.

i didn't see wish in english players's eyes, they behaved like mercenaries being indifferently if they win or lose. If they didn't think they can make it why the fvck did they show up in the first place . Maybe i'm joking about the hymn but England is so bad at NT because it lacks unity and that fighting spirit . The patriotism of english people means kissing queens ass instead of being ethnocentric like Italy for ex :browsmiley:
