Ibra had no problems with the system or the players, he and Messi were both in the middle like Messi and Cesc false 9. Zlatan's problem was that conflict with Pep, his ego, etc.

When Rafael van der Vaart and Wesley Sneijder broke through at Ajax, I thought Raffie was the most talented of the two and would therefore have the most succesful career of them both. In terms of talent I still think Raffie has the edge on Wes but in terms of prices won this has proven not to be so.

Well the Messi and Fabregas double false nine system didn't really work out for you guys.

If you have the time, read through this, it's quite long and you might not bother. I'm not saying i agree with everything that's being said in there, just a well written article and some good points.

EDIT: Oh and forgot this which sums it up for the lazy, just an interesting article in general. I don't have any comments really, i consider him as a fantastic player and look how well he's doing in Chelsea playing for Mourinho in a proper system suitable for him.

In 2003, Cesc Fabregas left his great love, Barcelona, and then fell in love again with Arsenal. The decision to return home was about rejoining his first and greatest love. Now that he has been rejected, what he has found is that Arsenal do not want him back. Perhaps Arsene Wenger has watched the Barcelona saga closely and learned what it took the Nou Camp hierarchy far too long to. At Arsenal they now have Aaron Ramsey, Mesut Ozil, Santi Cazorla and Carlos Wilshere. While they may still love Cesc, they don’t need him any more than Barcelona did in 2011 and, unlike Barcelona, they have proven smart enough to make the practical decision, rather than the emotional one. They won’t disrupt what they have to get back what they had lost. This leaves Cesc in a kind of limbo. Neither of the clubs that he wants to play for want him, so he will wind up playing for Chelsea: A club for whom he has no love, and under Mourinho: a coach for whom he most likely has even less. Ironically, he will probably win more there than he ever did with his two loves, but somewhere deep down he may come to know the sad truth of the last three years: He should not have moved, because Arsenal were better off with him and Barcelona, the club of his dreams, were far, far better off without him.

Of course he is. That was just an example, how Messi played with Fabregas in the center, he did the same with Zlatan.

I think the problem was Cesc playing an unnatural position, nothing to do with Messi. Messi and Alexis did something similar with good effect I thought.

Yes, Cesc is a fucking CM. Messi played well with Cesc, Villa, Alexis or Ibra.(in that position or in front of him) Nothing to do with Messi, like you said. Pep moved Cesc there in some games because of injuries and sometimes worked, but Tito and Tata took it to another level, completely failed.

Would you have said the same thing about Fabregas earlier on before he has now proved himself at Chelsea playing in a double pivot alongside Matić (who is fucking great in my opinion)?

I remember lots of people saying it wouldn't work, and that he was signed to rotate with Oscar in the AM position? I fucking sound like Mandieta6 now quoting some things you say trying to get you to explain. : D : D

And what is this talk about Ibra playing behind Messi or in front of him? I think that has more to do with Guardiola moving Messi into the middle, and Ibra just sticking at where he was.

Ibra had a great first half of the season, then his form dropped, had a fallout with Guardiola, and the latter made a wise decision fielding Messi in the center. (MADRID 2-6 game the season before showed that it was an ace in Guardiola's pocket which worked out fantastically playing their best player in the middle). The guy got pissed off and went crying to his slimebag of an agent. (Raiola) Eventually got his move to Milan in the summer.

I watched Barca or La Liga in general more than usual that season (because of Ibra and Ronaldo joining Barca and Real respectively). And i don't really remember that being a tactic. In the end he started acting like a primadonna, and was left on the bench.

Now i wish i could google the lineups Barca used in the second half of the season. I actually tried wikipedia, but no luck, only that he played in 29 matches in La Liga. I doubt he was a starter in all of those hah.. Not going to bother, it would be difficult. And i'm not 100% certain with this.

Dude, seriously. I've always said on Barça thread, there are a few posts about this, that Cesc's BEST position is CM and a more free role. Jesus..

Someone let me know when Xaviesta and chygry stop arguing so I can visit the thread again because it is visually painful.

Apparently chygry realised that writing huge-ass useless long posts will make him "win" the argument.

Never seen it. But a more free role would be AM, no? :D

I am really annoyed with chygry's new tendency to not only post in high frequency but high density as well. I especially don't like that he is directing those posts at Xaviesta.

Yeah right. At Xaviesta? HAHAHAHA... You're the last person allowed to say that.

When somebody starts talking how a team's tactics are focused on scoring from set pieces, then they need correcting. Not getting the obvious and arguing back is where i should have shut up. Some people just don't get it. (sorry Xaviesta, no offense meant)
