Soccer related thread. Hoping to having some amusing anecdotes.

When I first saw Lichtsteiner he was playing for Switzerland, in Euro 2008 I believe. I thought he was a decent defender.

Then I saw he transferred to Juve.

I thought Lichtsteiner looked very much like a center back (his face and body) and would be a failure as a right back. I didn't think he'd be fast or athletic enough.

Few years later he's proved to have had a successful career with Juve as right back/wing back.

That we were going to win La decima last year... oh wait!... (H)

Though Newcastle would get far in the Europa league, when they were competing a few years back... :(

I thought Bale was extremely overrated and was gonna get exposed playing for RM...

But he cost 100+ millions! They must have though he was good!

Let me be frank.

1) Pogba. :(
At least I am admitting it!

2) Sturridge
Thought he was garbage at Chelsea. But turned out he was at the wrong club. A club known for making every striker a flop.

Thought Jeremie Aliadiere was going to be the one who replaced Thierry Henry.

What made you think so? He scored very few goals even when he went on loan.

I thought Reyes would have been Henry's replacement. I was very impressed by him at first and I think he was a striker.

The Legend
Scored a goal in his first (or second) game, moved really well for a young striker and was lighting it up for the reserves. He had that hernia issue and was never quiet the same.

Eto'o. I thought he would be what Diego Costa is now last season.

Also one that hurts is krasic, thought he would lead us to latter CL spots after the relegation

Also had high hopes for palladino...yeah.

I also thought Man U wouldn't suffer as much as they have after SAF stepped down. Turns out that senile old man can manage...

It is more to do with the new manager who didn't have a clue what he was doing than Fergie stepping down.

We apologize for keeping the yellow too long

I was wrong about Cristiano Ronaldo. I thought he was over-rated.

Back in the day, I was also wrong about Hristo Stoichkov. I thought he was good - turns out, i) Romario was carrying him at Barcelona and ii) he got very lucky in the 1994 QF.

No, you've got it backwards.

I thought Barry Bannan was going to be the next Iniesta only with Xabi's passing range.

Also thought a bunch of Chelsea youngsters would make it.
