The Wolf FM2005 Option File Update

Players lost their head

Hello everybody in there,

My first post here...

First I must thank The Wolf and every other "editors" for doing such a crazy amount of work for the community. Cheers !

But as one only reports late trains, not considering the ones that arrive on time, I noticed something annoying in my game : some players have literally lost their head !!! When ? When I installed Wolf's Option File (it's the same with OLE MIC's one). Instead of "wearing" their real face, a suspiciously great amount of known players wear the #161 face.

I once wanted to use EditPES4OptionFile to edit some physical things, and I noticed that the greatest number of white faces available was... 161, instead of the 217 available in the game (same "gap" for the other colors, I guess).

Maybe using EditPes4OptionFile switched some players’ faces (those with face numbers greater than 161) to the #161 face.
Examples : Van Bommel (#183), Sneijder (#188), and much more I can’t remember.

Is it just me ? or the same for everyone ?
In that case, could those poor players have their real face back in further versions of the option file ?

Wolf firstly thank you for your efforts!

Secondly, may I suggest releasing it before the transfer window - that way, you can get feedback/errors and when the time comes, update transfers and release Version 2.0 of the optionfile which would be more perfect than had you released a first version then:)

That was indeed the case, but shouldn't be true from current version (0.7). However, I didn't have any feedback on this version yet.

I wasn't aware EditPes4OptionFile had been updated.

But yet Wolf's latest option file is full of #161 faces (on my computer at least)... I checked other skin colors : same problem.

I can't do anything about Wolf's option file. However, it would be great if you could confirm the problem is solved with the new version.

You mean the new version of EditPes4OptionFile (EP4OF will do better), I guess ?
The answer is Yes ! I've just tried to change a face (Di Biagio's #162, for instance) from the Players > Physical Settings menu and it worked fine, I could save it in my option file, using the "save to..." command : Di Biagio no longer wears #161 face :)

By the way, I got no replies from people having the same problem.
If you use Wolf's option file, could you please confirm that players like Pauleta (Portugal or PSG team), Sneijder (Ajax), Reyna and O'Brien (USA) or Dudek (Poland) all wear that damn #161 face in your game ?

Wolf, this is an amazing project, and i'm so looking forward to playing with this database.

I myself is a keen editor, and i've done a complete PES4 to CM03-04 update on my optionfile. But i'm not quite happy with many of the stats, as they are a bit outdated in my view.

You say you are using Fm2005 data, how do you do that? The Fm data files is not recognised by kschoises editor, which I've tried. You say something about hex editing the FM files into Cm files...

I wonder if Kschoise could expand his editor to using FM data, as well as CM data.

There is a post written by me just above yours, and yet you manage not to write my nick correctly :p.

I'm currently trying to extend my program to FM data compatibility, however it's not an easy process as SIGames haven't published the format for their database yet, and noone has written an editor for it either.

I managed to get all player's names, birthdates, clubs and countries correctly, I also have each player's attribute structure but I still struggle finding which attribute is which, as they aren't displayed as is in the game.

Nygreen has made an editor for FM2005, if not for the people_db and player_db then for a savegame. Maybe you could bypass the problem that way kschoice (look I got it right ;-))?

Thanks for a great editor BTW.

Solution I considered but which has problems :

  • Savegames aren't nearly as available over the web than databases.
Savegames stats are different from those of the database.
It will take much more time to implement savegame loading than to fix the database loading, as I have no clue how it's made.

However, I messaged Michael Nygreen on the subject, I hope he will be able to help me on my matter, if not, maybe he could provide me with savegame format, which would be a lesser harm.

From the multi-page Evo-Web list of players and what shoes they wear, the next option file will be updated for every single player I can find on there to match them with the correct shoes. Because obviously there are dozens of different shoes worn across the EPL alone, I'm going to at least try and get everybody wearing the correct brand which is why the shoes included in the 2005 patch covered more brands than usual rather than having 3 different colors of the F50s.

So is this patch gonna be released at the end of January? Are you running through any problems?

Yep, the 2005 option file will be released with a small update patch for those using the 2005 patch. It will update the balls to even better models and tweak a few other little things. It'll be quite a small update patch in termso f size though as it can be applied to the 2005 0_text.afs directly with AFS Explorer.

The important thing at the moment though is getting the option file completed.

Like Yannick (kschoice) says, the FM2005 database has a different format than the CM4 one. I have the FM2005 game and I think there are extra fields with attributes for players which aren't in PES/WE. Some of the attributes you would have to find some way to combine to get their equivalent attribute in PES/WE. We'd be guessing or estimating exactly what formula to use for this though.

I've been updating using the CM4 database using the update by Clacio as they have the largest research team and are affiliated with Sports Interactive who make the FM/CM series. They also don't tweak stats that the S.I. team have already created. They add new players to the database and correct details.

A BETA of the 2005 option file will probably be out next week. I'll be releasing it for feedback and help with updating the squads and anything which needs to be tweaked before the final release. As it will be playable online and also work in ML, I want to get it as perfect as possible as a few of the online leagues want to use it as the standard option file.

Update PSV Eindhoven-players

Compliments for your hard work, Wolf.
I noted that some Dutch players (in particular PSV-Eindhoven-players) have wrong appearances. Could you use some tips to change them? If so can I post the tips here?
I'm not talking about stats but about the looks and the names.

Grtz,

Limburglos
