Finally Za is gone. Also Sokota will be let go today, and Argel is going to Racing Santander in Spain. The first 2 I hated due to lack heart for the team and slacking ff. I'm going to miss Argel he was a fighter and alway plays 100% for the teams he plays for I'm going to miss the bitch slaps he gives to the visiting players.

Have you guys read the article "A Capital" has today about José Veiga (if not, www.acapital.pt)? The man is in big sh!t, he has huge debts and has made plenty of illegal acts. He's such a corrupt, I always knew that (well, I guess this doesn't come as a surprise to anyone)... I completely despise that man!

The main problem is that this mess with him might also damage Benfica, although indirectly. At least it certainly doesn't do any good to the club's name. Veiga should never have came to Benfica, I always thought that and expressed it here in the forum at the time of his entrance to the club.

O Benfica já tem tudo acertado para contratar Nuno Assis, com quem irá celebrar um contrato válido pelos próximos três anos e meio. O médio-ofensivo ainda alinha este fim-de-semana pelo Vitória de Guimarães, frente ao União de Leiria, mas é esperado na Luz na próxima semana para colocar a sua assinatura no vínculo válido até ao final da época de 2007/08.

Os moldes do contrato já estão definidos com Nuno Assis, assim como as contrapartidas que o Vitória de Guimarães receberá pela saída de um atleta que terminava contrato no final da época. Segundo O JOGO apurou, o emblema minhoto adquire a título definitivo os direitos desportivos de Alex - emprestado pelo Benfica desde o início da época -, assim como a extinção da dívida de 250 mil euros referente ao período em que Ednilson esteve em Guimarães na condição de emprestado.

Nuno Assis é a solução encontrada pelos responsáveis benfiquistas para colmatarem a vaga deixada em aberto com a rescisão amigável do contrato com Zahovic. Aos 27 anos, o médio português tem sido um dos protagonistas da actual edição da SuperLiga, destacando-se pela qualidade que imprime ao futebol ofensivo da equipa orientada por Manuel Machado.

I don't think Mantorras is nearly as good as some newspapers and Benfica fans said he was, but he's definitely an above the average Joe, who Superliga needs badly.
His goal -although it may seem an easy finish to the most - was fantastic and difficult, as any good striker will tell you.
I like him a lot and honestly wish him well.

well he scored 13 goals in about 30 games in his first season in Benfica before the injuries came along. Not bad for a kid making his debut for a major club. He is not that good yet but he has amazing potential, let's see if he can fulfill it now.
