ADRIANO WINS REUTERS GOAL OF THE SEASON
Tuesday, 31 May 2005 15:54:44

MILAN - According to leading news agency Reuters, the finest goal in the 2004/05 Serie A campaign was Adriano's breathtaking individual effort for Inter in the 3-1 win over Udinese in October. The Brazilian had already blasted home a 30-metre free-kick before he picked the ball up deep in his own half, weaved past three defenders before finding the space to unleash a fierce drive past Udinese keeper Morgan De Sanctis.

Adriano's solo goal beat off competition from other splendid strikes by Gilardino (overhead kick for Parma against Lecce), Fabio Simplicio (long-range effort for Parma against Cagliari) and Zampagna (lob for Messina against Roma).

Delneri takes Palermo post
by Nadia Carminati - created on 31 May 2005

Palermo have appointed Luigi Delneri as their new coach to replace Francesco Guidolin.

The Sicilian club have acted quickly to fill their vacancy after Guidolin stepped down on Sunday following the 3-3 draw against Lazio.

Guidolin had guided Palermo to a historic place in the Uefa Cup next season but had a tense relationship with owner Maurizio Zamparini.

He opted to quit to take a break from football and his place on the bench has been taken by Delneri, who will be in charge of his fourth club in 12 months.

Just under a year ago, Delneri left Chievo Verona for Porto but failed to preside over a single competitive match for the then-European champions.

Delneri then replaced Rudi Voller at Roma in September but lasted only a few months and has now been handed a new challenge by Palermo.

Zamparini said: "We have closed this appointment this afternoon.

"I'm happy. I have lost a good coach and I have found another good one."

Palermo have signed Delneri to a two-year contract which will reportedly earn the coach a sum of €800,000 per season.

:kader: there's so many jokes in that top 10 that it's not even funny.

1. Chelsea score a record number of points in the premiership, lose just 1 game, concede just 15 goals, and they aren't top.

2. Chelsea score a record number of points in the premiership, lose just 1 game, concede just 15 goals, and they aren't even in the top 10.

3.INTER ARE TOP

4. Bayern Munich are 4th - too high, they haven't really convinced, plus its only the German league.

5. Newcastle 6th?? :rofl:They finished lower in the league than Charlton, Birmingham City and Fulham.

6. Juventus barely make the top 10. They have been the best Italian team by far.

7. AC Milan in 2nd place. They brought shame upon Italian football by throwing away a 3-0 lead.

And Finally, CSKA Moskow make 5th place just because they won the UEFA Cup. Astonishing. Didcot Town won the FA Vase so I think they deserve to make the top 3 in the rankings.

Apart from that, the rankings couldn't be more accurate.

Kaladze in new Chelsea claim
by Peter ORourke - created on 1 Jun 2005

Chelsea are on the verge of signing Milan ace Kakha Kaladze, according to the player's father.

The 27-year-old revealed earlier this week that he was likely to leave Milan for Chelsea after growing increasingly frustrated at his lack of first-team chances for the Rossoneri.

Chelsea's reported interest in Kaladze comes as something of a surprise as they are close to agreeing a deal for Athletic Bilbao's Asier Del Horno.

The player's father Karlo Kaladze claims his son will sign at Stamford Bridge once he returns from international duty with Georgia this weekend.

"After Saturday's (World Cup) qualifier against Albania in Tirana, Kakha will fly to London to sign a contract with Chelsea," Kaladze told the local Georgian media.

"Everything has been agreed, it's just a matter of signing a contract."

Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck refused to comment on the speculation regarding the possible signing of Kaladze.

When asked about Kaladze, Buck said: "We have no comment to make on player transfers today."

if he's complaining about playing time with Milan, does he actually think he's going to be a first team player at Chelsea? The guy is the oldest looking 27 year old I've ever seen

i read wrong, its actually a co-ownership deal with the Juventini and the Italian referee commitee, seeing as they have such a long history of working together

As a neutral and a free agent, im the hottest property in Italian football right now, but Im not ruling out a move abroad. If Real Madrid or some Russian club put up enough cash, im willing to don their colours next season. If you remember correctly, I had an unsuccesful trial with Manchester United earlier this season. Like Veron I guess Im just not suit for the English game (:/)

ya, juve have been showing massive interest in me, but i think its solely for the reason im free.

goal.com fabricated a story stating that was in advanced talks with Arsenal, but as usual had no quotes to back it.

i havent had any contact with Moggi or anyone else associated with Juventus. These are all lies been spread by Adriano Galliani, as hes trying to destroy my public image because i refused his terms. The Toronto Lynx made a sad offer, but i refused naturally.

Anyways, Ive officially signed a 5 year contract with Fiorentina. Inter made an eleventh hour bid, but I already tied down my future with the Tuscan side. Ive already been secretly been a Fiorentina fan for a while, but now its official. Mikey is no longer a neutral, and end of an era.

In other news, why does santino still have that avatar? though it was comical at one time, its now beyond outdated ;)

I think it was pretty obvious that I was a Fiorentina fan since ive been on these forums

i actually made an avatar a couple weeks ago, but for some reason i cant upload my own. So its either blank or I bring back the controversial Angola flag.

Are you (mark) coming to T-dot for Italy game?
