You should have taken Royston Drenthe.

Anyway, a curious point I stumbled upon while writing my Euro 2012 preview is that your team features the best player in England, Italy, and Germany.

Sneijder has only very recently started playing anywhere near his 75% mark let alone 100% this season

His form dropped dramatically, almost simulteanously with PSV's enormous form dip at the end of the season.

and then some  ... but no point in chiding him now; lessons learnt, I hope ...

at least I can be happy for Simon Kjær, and Ajacieds Krohn-Dehli, Eriksen, and Morten Olsen ...

Who was the defender making the long passes, Heitinga or Vlaar? Wasn't exactly Frank de Boer in 1998 finding Bergkamp, but I thought more than a few were pretty good.

that's enough nepotism for now, surely, Bert? 2 losses but somehow still in the tournament doesn't come along too often ...

as for me, this feels like Euro 2004: the Dutch have to boost their goal difference en route to a win, while hoping that the team in the group with 2 wins make it 3 ... except this time I won't be sitting in the cockpit of a BA flight bound to London, listening in with the pilots for score updates ...

^ I heard Gullitt's name being mentioned a couple of days back ... my reaction was that he wasn't the first (Frankie) or second (San Marco) name from that 88 squad I thought of as a replacement ...

but coming from a whole other direction, how about:

time for a second chance, ten years later? if he appoints Kluivert as assistant, I'm in ...

Gullit screwed up everywhere he was coach. No way the KNVB should even think about hiring him.

Oh and keep your hands of Frank de Boer. Without him we won't win the Eredivisie next season. (H)

I can't see Kluivert coaching...

plus, look at this Cruyff t-shirt he's wearing (H):

What about Frank de Boer?
without Lyon's extremely dubious 1-7 away win on the last matchday of the group stage, we'd be talking about a man who's led Ajax to consecutive league titles, along with a good Champions League run ...

but it is not his time yet ... in this transition period, with discord rife in the ranks, and new blood needing integration, van Gaal is ideal for the job, IMO ...

I have that shirt too! (H)
Oh and Kluivert surprisingly seems to be a good coach, even though he's never coached a senior team.
