I wouldn't say that necessarily.

I think they are one of those tough sides that you would rather avoid.

I think United have the team to beat them, but I don't think it will be a walk in the park by any means. Lille is a tough, well-coached squad. And they are hungry.

Not to stir things up, but i thought this was interesting.

MANCHESTER UNITED have been branded a bunch of overpaid fat cats by Euro rivals Lille.

Striker Peter Odemwingie has vowed to dump them out of the Champions League next week.

He said: “We may not have the fat bank accounts like United players, but in order to show we deserve the money they are getting, we have to kick them out.

“We are ready for anything. Names don’t really count in football. We play more like a team and do not beg for recognition.”

United aces like Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney rake in well over £100,000 a week at Old Trafford.

But Odemwingie, nicknamed Osaze, added: “We have quality players who have the experience to face the likes of Ronaldo, Rooney and Ferdinand.

“We have a younger team with strong players, who are ready to prove a point.

“They may have some of the best players on the Continent but we will not look at credentials when we meet. We beat Milan 2-0 in our last match — so playing United is no big deal.”

There are no easy teams left in this stage in the Cl anyway, so whoever we get will always be tough, you have to beat the best to win the champions league, but Lille are ranked outsiders, and their cheap shots at us will only motivate us even more, I think we will avenge our loss last season and beat them.

I think the match against Lille will be pretty easy. Thought Lille qualified to this stage of the competition ... I don't think that they deserve this place :(. Anyway ... the players from Man Utd and Sir Alex Ferguson are focused on all competitions ... and I think that they will give Lille no chance. Man Utd will probably qualify in the final ... if they continue to play like they do now.

I wouldn't be so sure there is no such thing as a walk in the park at this stage. Lille, PSV, Porto and Celtic deserve a spot in this round and deserve respect.

Make the final? United haven't passed the QF since 99 with the exeption of 2002 so i wouldn't jump the gun so soon. (H)

Lille is one of those teams in France that constantly troubles Lyon, and Lyon is on par with or better than United.

Trust me, I'm not dissing United, you have a great squad, but don't discount Lille just because they are not so well-known.

Against Lyon is one thing, against United is another thing.

You're right... Lyon has won the championship of France 5 times in a row and is easily one of the best and deepest squads in Europe.

As I said, I'm not dissing United and I know you guys love your team, but Lyon is as good if not better than Manchester United.

Anyway, I say let's see what happens on the pitch, instead of debating which team is better in a forum, as that is down to being informed and also a lot of opinion comes into play.

Lyon is a good team, but I don't think that they are better then us, winning a league 5 times in a row doesn't say anything, they don't have any team to trully compete with them, like in La Liga you have Barca, Real, Valencia, Sevilla and Valencia fighting for the league, in the EPL you have Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool whom are capable of winning the title, but in Ligue 1, you have Lyon and the rest. It is quite weird, cause the French league is strong, but Lyon everytime wins the league with ease. We managed to beat Lyon at home and drew away, and we weren't even great like this season. It surely won't be a walk in the park against Lille, but we have a great team this season and the hunger is there to win something big this season. If we manage to reach the semis then I would consider this CL season as a success

Fair enough. I do think United will win, as your best players are better than Lille's best and those are the ones who have to shine to win in the CL. Then of course there is the factor that at that level on any day any team can beat anyone and form going into the match will be huge.

As a neutral, I am looking forward to a great matchup from these two.

I realize you and Fernandez don't have on the Manu Rulezzz!!!11111 blinders that we often find with the casual fanboys, which is why I figured I could actually speak about football with you.

And thankfully some of us can actually speak to a Barca fan.

Dont just discard Lyon for their league performances, just note all their wins and performances in the past CLs. Tough to say who is better right now as Lyon have been sluggish since returning from the break.

Do any of you lot think we should be for Ronaldinho? There is strong rumours that the brasilian is in his last season at Barca as a big rift is threatening to rip the club apart.Remember that he snubbed us to come to Barca...Ronaldinho,Man United kit, number 10? Wouldnt that be perfect?
