Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says Arsenal are unlikely to raid Juventus.

A feeding frenzy has been predicted at the Turin giants, following their demotion to Serie B.

It has not taken long for many English sides to be linked with a move for some of Juventus' top men - and the likes of Patrick Vieira, David Trezeguet and Gianluigi Buffon have been linked with Arsenal.

However, Wenger insist that their wages will stay be beyond The Gunners

"We cannot afford to do it which is why we are not overly concerned with what is going on at Juventus," said Wenger.

"It is very unlikely we will make a move for the players because the wages are too high for us.

"What has happened in Italy will inevitably disturb the market because you have a lot of players who come on to the market but don't forget the players of Juventus are very well paid and not many clubs in the world can afford to pay this kind of wages."

Makes sense really, the only player we'd be after would be Buffon, but obviously hes hot property and we wouldnt be able to compete with Milan

Arsene Wenger has definitively stated that Arsenal are 'not interested' in Argentine World Cup forward Javier Saviola, although the Frenchman admits he is an admirer of West Brom's Curtis Davies.

The Gunners have been linked with a number of names over the summer having already captured Tomas Rosicky, and Saviola has featured heavily after his agent Alfredo Cabrera Brizuela claimed the London side were keen to sign his client from Barcelona.

The tricky striker impressed during the World Cup finals and has also been linked with Bolton and Newcastle, but Wenger has now poured cold water on suggestions that The Emirates Stadium could be the player's destination, highlighting the extensive attacking options already at his disposal.

"We are not interested in Saviola at all," said Wenger in The Guardian.

"I have enough forward players.

"We have bought Rosicky. We have [Freddie] Ljungberg, [Robin] van Persie, [Jose Antonio] Reyes, [Thierry] Henry, [Emmanuel] Adebayor, [Theo] Walcott, [Nicklas] Bendtner, [Jeremie] Aliadiere and [Arturo] Lupoli.

"Where do I put the strikers?"

Whilst Wenger is happy with his forward options, a new defender is certainly a priority after Sol Campbell's exit and the uncertainty over Ashley Cole's future.

A number of injuries have also left the Arsenal backline creaking, and to that end Wenger has admitted he is a confirmed fan of West Brom stopper Curtis Davies.

However The Baggies are determined to keep hold of the stopper, with Wenger describing their asking price of £10 million as "too high", and Arsenal are yet to make a formal approach for the former Luton Town man.

"We still want to strengthen our squad at the back," Wenger added.

"We have lost [Philippe] Senderos now for the next three months and we have injuries. [Johan] Djourou has been injured. [Gael] Clichy is injured.

"At the back, if we can find one player who can play centre back, left back, then we are still open.

"I have not made an inquiry and I have not made a bid but I like Curtis Davies."

The Gunners have inevitably been linked with the potential sales emanating from the Italian match-fixing scandal, with Juventus stars Gianluigi Buffon and Lilian Thuram in particular rumoured to be targets.

However, Wenger has previously intimated that wage demands will rule Arsenal out of the race, and the former Monaco boss believes there will be little possibility of loan deals with the Bianconeri.

"They are in Serie B, with a 30-points deduction. That means, in fact, Serie C.

"I cannot see their interest in having a team that are all above 30. I cannot see what kind of interest they could have to keep players out on loan.

"When they come back to them, if they make it in two years, they could be finished."

Although new faces are needed at The Gunners, one of Wenger's primary summer objectives will be to keep hold of unhappy defender Cole.

The England international is rumoured to be interesting a number of Europe's top sides after criticising the club in his upcoming book, but Wenger still believes he can keep the flying left back at the club after convincing captain Thierry Henry to stay over the summer.

"When he (Cole) comes back, I feel the most important (thing) is to work hard and not to talk too much, because football is less about talking and more playing and showing how good you are.

"We have shown many times that we can keep our best players when we want to. We showed that with Henry.

"When he looks back one day, he will see that Arsenal have helped him."

Interesting, we will defiently sign a Centre Back, preferably one that plays on the left side of defense as well

sell cole, buy zambrotta.. he plays left back doesn he?

Hmmm, given your managers recent transfer history, I think we can safely say that Zambrotta is out of the question. In fact, if Zambrotta had a 12 year old son, Wenger would probably buy him. Or you know what, why don't you see if the Barca youth academy has a good 15 year old left back, he might work well for you as well! Actually that Traore kid sounds like a plan as well come to think of it (is he Djimi's little brother?) ! :funny:

I hear this new Emirates stadium is pretty spacious, why don't you guys build a kindergarten in there for all these kids that put on your jerseys?

Barca has one of the biggest and most famous youth academies in the world. Obviously, all of them won't stay with us. They're young, they get more money from leaving, and since its their parents that make the descisions, they sometimes take it. Well you know what, screw them. They'll grow up and realize that they might have been playing with the greatest team in Europe, but instead, they'll be stuck at the kindergarten in Emirates stadium. Their loss, not ours.

This guy is jealous we got Fabregas one of his own and he is stuck with the cheap and cheating deco.

Awwwwwwwwwwww poor me! :boohoo:

I'd rather have Puyol, Xavi, Iniesta, and Oleguer, all who also came from our youth academy, than Mr. Fabregas and that other kid. And there will be many more that rise up and play for the first team, no doubt about that. The sad thing is that one of the best players on your team learned everything he knew at Barcelona. And Deco is leagues ahead of Fabregas, thats not even a comparision!

Good luck to you though, hope the new and improved Chelsea don't steam roll your schoolboy team too badly this year :ewan:

Jesus, and Chelsea players are money whores? At least they tow the club and managerial line in all circumstances or else

Cole had just patched his relationship by performing well, and now he ruins it. What a c*nt. If by some fluke we still buy his sorry ass, i'll eat glass

Arsenal young gun Nicklas Bendtner is desperate to play first team football and says he will leave the club if not included in the squad for the coming season.

The Danish 18-year-old striker has been left in the dark over his status, which has sparked rumours about where his future lies.

He was a fringe player for the reserves last season, but is unwilling to continue in the same vain again in the coming campaign.

"We are anxiously waiting to see the squad," the player's agent Thomas Bendtner said to BT.

"It is very important for Nicklas, but one thing is certain and that is that he will play first team football this season.

"In case he is not in the squad, we will look at other alternatives."

Rangers have been linked with a season-long loan deal for the player in the past, and it may be that Arsene Wenger allows his youngster to grow across the border before unleashing him on The Premiership.

Fair Enough, I cant see him getting game time unless home brand kanu gets injuried
