Referee Assignments

Week 1
Dallas : Chicago - STOTT/Barkey/Strickland/Bazakos

Kansas City : Columbus - GEIGER/Tovar/Fereday/Yonan

DC : New York - HALL/Quinsenberry/Supple/Jones

Chivas : Salt Lake - SALAZAR/Davidson/Rockwell/Toledo

Houston : Colorado - PRUS/Vergara/Borne/Tait

Stott and Hall have to be considered the two best in the US. Too bad Stott didn't make the World Cup refereeing team.

Great, the baseball guy is calling the game.

Also, what happened to the Chicago 3rd kit? It was sweet

God, I should hang myself for not being at the opening Chivas game... :fool:

Real Salt Lake will have a very "interesting" season this year.
They look like a middle-school team. :funny:

Chivas are doing awesome though.
Alot of youth, great experience in all the important parts, on combination with eleven players that look like they really have passion for the game.
Razonv, Palencia, Loquito, and Mendoza on the attack, great teamwork, movement and passing between them, can't wait to see what this could develope into further on.
Young defence, Regan, Vaughn, Bornstein, with the solid Suarez in the middle, looking good, so far only on shot caught by "El Gusano" Guzan.

2 - 0 for Chivas at half-time.

Chivas 3 - 0 Real Salt Lake
2x Razov
1x "Loquito" Garcia

Well, Chivas debuted 5 players into the MLS, and yet managed to pull a great game.

My thoughts on the players:

18 Brad Guzan (GK) - He's really come a long way, but still seems alittle nervous when defending one-on-one. Just saved a couple of good shots, since there was not alot going on in his area.

25 Lawson Vaughn - Excellent defending, yet still made a couple of rookie mistakes, he can only get better though.
2 Claudio Suarez - This guy is really 37 years old? Was just solid, kept Pope out of sight on set pieces.
24 Tim Regan - Best defender on the field, made some really great saves, and was just as solid as Suarez. Nothing got through him.
13 Jonathan Bornstein - He's the player I'm following on this team, he always shows alot of potential. Had a lot of good teamwork with Mendoza, and shaked Real's defence with good runs forward.

10 Juan Pablo Garcia - Played injured, so he wasn't hugging the ball as much as he likes, yet showed his quality with the great goal. A good contender for the goal of the week.
16 Sacha Kljestan - Not in the game as much, only showed his skills towards the end, on the tired Real defence.
15 Jesse Marsch - Another Solid player in all ways possible, all I can say.

17 Juan Francisco Palencia - He had great teamwork with Razov. Plus, He was all over the field really getting into the captain role. Was abit inaccurate on his shots though, but if I know him well, he really needs to get into rhythm before he starts to get into his game.
9 Ante Razov - Man of the Match - Two execellent goals, could had had more, great passing with Palencia and Mendoza, watch out, this could be his season.
6 Francisco Mendoza - Now this kid can dribble!, just ask the Real defenders how their knees feel. The only thing that's lacking is his passing, he needs to improve it, otherwise he had a great game.

Substitutes

4 - Brent Whitfield
20 - Orlando Perez
28 - Drew Helm

They weren't on the field long enough, can't say anything for them.

Edit:

Team Picture.
Why are they at Disneyland? You may ask...
It's just a crazy Chivas tradition, a year back the Original Chivas team picture was taken while the players dived into a pool, with all their gear on....
I guess, this was a present for the new "kids"... :fool:

Simple answer.

He wants to retire at home.

Plus Chivas will probably pay him more that the Gals ever could.

Oh man, Red Bull NY's home kit is a piece of shit. They've got the adidas rec league template, and could the red bulls on the front possibly be any bigger?

:nape:

They could've at least kept the stripes.

What's the name of the player who scored that half-assed bicycle kick from Houston Dynamo? What poor defending on that.

Start a new team in the Bay area, please!

Well Ching scored 4 goals in that game...

..what can you say about the marking.... :fool:

The Red Bulls shirt looks like something you would order at Cafe Press...

The new Red Bulls kit gives me yet another reason to hate them. I wonder how big the bulls are on the size XXXXXL GK kit that Meola wears?
