USA will get raped!

Usa playing the copa america is an upgrade from costa rica imo tho.

STFU you no heart/talent/history/respect bastards. :nape:
Jesus, Peru is a slight step higher than Bolivia....who are you to talk?

USA have a great team and all of the americas will welcome them with open arms.
------------------

Welcome back to the Copa USA. It's great to have the states back (im sure they're excited too as only MLS conflicts have stopped them from joining the last 3 Copas). <being the 2nd most important continental cup worldwide, this is great for them too>

I remember watching USA play live at Copa America 95 and they got a great reception in Uruguay. (Lalas <sp?> was giving fans autographs after the game I remember...........they had lost 1-0 to Bolivia in an unlucky fashion <yet it was Bolivia's greatest team of all time so it wasnt that bad>) )

In case you guys forgot: This is how the Copa America pretty much works.

3 Groups- 12 Teams
From all 3 groups...the first 2 teams qualify (6) + (2) from the best 2 "third places" from all 3 groups.
This means that it's very easy to Qualify.

PROS- You get to play with 3 historical elites (the "big 3/triple derby <whatever you want to call it>" of S. america)
-Argentina- 2 World cups- 14 Copa Americas
-Uruguay- 2 World cups- 14 Copa Americas
-Brazil- 5 World cups- 7 Copa Americas

and also Mexico being an established big team in the football world as of late (atleast in the americas). It's always fun to face them as they just "bring it" (go all out).

The rest of the good teams include- Paraguay, Colombia, Ecuador and Chile

You will be EXTREMELY lucky if either: Venezuela, Bolivia or Peru get drawn into your groups. (these teams are generally very very very easy to beat)

As for the history of the Copa America- Here are the title counts
1) Argentina- 14
2) Uruguay- 14
3) Brazil- 7 (lost many finals...mostly to the 2 above)
4) Paraguay- 2
5) Peru 2-
6) Colombia-1
7) Bolvia- 1

Guys this competition is about 500X more competetive than the Gold Cup/packed stadiums and very passionate, so expect USA to improve alot in the next coming years.

Welcome guys :)

Also don't forget that this is the real chance for Venezuela to do something important. Seeing as in the last qualifiers they did slightly better than usual, being somewhat interesting.

Actually besides being "historically" weak, this could be a strong Copa for Venezuela (IE: Semi Final isnt out of the question since they are pretty tough to beat at home now).

But last time that's what people said of Peru and they barely made it to quarters. (Argentina had some trouble, but they won that game without too much trouble).

Still, Venezuela is a team on the rise so anything can happen.

In my opinion, last time Peru wasn't such a big team on paper, and also they got kinda a weak group(Venezuela, Bolivia and Colombia). There's difference because Peru was once an important team(say your 60-70's Ecuador, when you think of it, even Ecuador made pretty bad on the last Copa América, when they were doing fine in the Wrodl Cup qualifiers) that fel, the only adventage for them was that they were the host. Venezuela is actually a rising team as you said.

Anyway seeing the actual situation more like the group heads will be Venezuela, Argentina and Brazil. So, of those 3, who do you think will United States face in the groups stage? Or what could be easier to defeat for United States?

USA can be at the level of Mexico when they play at their best: this means they could win the whole thing with a few good performances.

I think the groups will lineup like this: (they're very similar at every copa)

A-Venezuela- Rising team with home advantage
- Paraguay- Good/solid team
- Ecuador- Playing well.
- Mexico- Always solid.

B- Argentina- Always good.
- Uruguay- (dont want to be biased so wont type anything)
- USA- Solid team
- Bolivia- lol
(THIS group would be awesome)

C- Brazil- It's Brazil.
- Colombia- genrally good/great
- Chile- super rising team
- Peru- same as always
(tight group)

wow this will be a competetive copa america (they 100% wont put mexico and usa in the same group, so expect some trouble in all 3 groups)

Like I cant even predict who would get eliminated as the "worst 3rd place".

But seeing as they usually "draw" the home team with the easiest group possible, expect Venezuela to have: Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador in their group (or maybe Chile to balance it out)

Glorious

Starting XI
Annoying that New York are just plain red and not the Red and Black stripes that made them look good on the pitch.

Once again the MLS final goes to ET or PK.... This season showed that the regular season meant very little with many dead rubbers.

What i cannot understand is that there will only be 13 teams....why not the 14th?

Initial rendering of the Wizards proposed new stadium

PS: the Rapids stadium is almost complete (Y)

wow! I want one of those in Perth...for my team in the A-League! :p Must admit the SSS's in Australia are great but not architectually unique.

Any more previews of 2007/2008 kits? Shame that Colorado are dropping the Blue and Black stripes for their home kit.
